Irie Alford is one of the best R rarity employees in the game. She is the suggested starter Defender for newbie players because it is super easy to Limit Break her and she does a great job at tanking whatever early game stages throw at the player.
Sadly, the further into the game you get, the less useful she becomes, especially because she, like all low rarity Defenders, does not have MDL.
MDL = Max Damage Limit or DMG Taken Limit is a stat that only appears on SSR rarity Defenders. How does it work? For example, if an employee has 10% MDL it means that any hit that does more damage than 10% of his max HP, will have the part exceeding the MDL value lowered by 80%. This prevents Defenders with MDL from being one-shot by skills/ultimates.
A way to counter MDL is to use employees with great ASPD like Administration Rifleman, Ifrit, or Millia Rage.
- great starter tank,
- pair her with a Striker and they will tank you through the early game easily.
- no MDL,
- powercrept by stronger Defenders.
