Katharina is a backline buffer that provides high uptime ATK% and Skill Haste (ASPD% for fury units instead) buffs to her team. On top of that, her special applies a rare debuff immunity buff to allied units.
In PVE, Katharina is a universally good offensive buffer that works on all factions (unlike her counterpart Anila who only buffs Counters). This makes her usable with a variety of teams that include Soldiers/Mechs (e.g. Awakened Curian and Awakened Sigma). While she is overcosted for the offensive power her buffs provide, it only matters for competitive content (e.g. Danger Close). However, unless debuff removal becomes critical in future content, it is unlikely Katharina becomes integral to any strategy.
In PVP, Katharina is a general use offensive buffer, notable for her synergy with fury units (mostly Awakened Karin Wong). While debuff immunity buff her Special Skill offers can prevent important debuffs (e.g. Awakened Seo Yoon's healing reflux), this utility by itself isn't worth the team slot and DP commitment.
