Analysis

Review

The first unit in the game to get ‘nerfed’, Vivi is still an extremely strong backline post-nerf. Similar to Talia, being a teamwide speed buffer directly contributes to increasing team mana regeneration, while also increasing overall DPS since speed equates to higher attack speed and movement speed. Her DPS significantly ramps up once M1 stacks her wind blades to 5, and this is easily achieved since her S3 boosts her own mana regeneration.

This is further amplified by her artifact which refunds her mana for every M1 cast, making her stack wind blades extremely fast in the endgame. Her ult’s range is also massive, and although no longer global post nerf, the damage multiplier is still very high, and once cast on the backlines with enough wind blades stacked, Vivi can oneshot them. Although she doesn’t have any defensive passives like Naiah, her range is one of the longest in the game, similar to Mephi, and should steer clear from any AoE targeting your frontlines.

Her downsides are very similar to Mephi, where they are both extremely vulnerable to assassins, and both of their M1 targets units in a straight line, meaning backlines might not get targetted if Vivi is in an awkward angle only hitting the frontline.  If you are able to alleviate her squishiness and positioning problem, Vivi is one of the best backlines in the game, since team speed and insane DPS are always valued in any team comp. She would be SSS had her ult been able to access backlines even while targeting tanks, but the fix doesn’t affect her much if you are able to work around it.

Single Bosses

Vivi should be a staple, given how she grants a teamwide speed buff on top of being able to deal tons of damage with her extremely fast M1, scaling as her wind blade stacks go up. As long as the bosses don’t have any single target burst mechanic, her spot should be cemented.

PVP

Vivi is also an excellent backline that provides speed buff and deals good DPS herself, capable of reaching enemy backlines when positioned properly just like Mephi. Be wary of Adrienne hooks due to her extremely long range, and when against assassin comps, it is advisable to bench her since she is extremely squishy

Pros & Cons
Pros

  • Speed Buffer

  • One of highest multipliers on Ult makes up for great damage.

  • Massive Range.

Cons

  • Extremely vulnerable to assassins and adrianne hook.

  • M1 targets in straight line which can cause her to not lit backlines sometimes.

  • Post Nerf, Vivienne can't always hit all backline with ult.
