Overview

Baek Yoonho [Silver Mane] is one of the strongest boss killers due to the combination of massive Bleed damage he can dish out and the ability to become stronger as his HP decreases. He is a true berserker who focuses on basic attacks and who can self-buff himself decently well on top of all the bonuses he gains the closer to the death he is.

For people who can’t dodge effectively, he may be a dangerous pick, but overall he is one of the best characters you want to bring against bosses. His A1 will allow him to become an utter beast, giving him that extra damage that pushes him to extreme heights.

  • Can't really Burst.

  • Bleed is so strong most Bosses are Immune to it.

  • Will be weakened by a Healer’s presence.

Review

Silver Mane Baek Yoonho or in short SMBaek, is a unique Hunter with the gimmick of becoming stronger the more hurt he is, a typical Berserker. 

First, Let us take a look at his various skills: His Passive allows him to inflict one of the two DOT’s (normally [Bleed]) whenever he hits an enemy with his Core Attack or his Violent Approach Skill. As the [Bleed] does not work on most Endgame Bosses, [Curse of the Magic Beast] is applied instead. He also deals additional damage with his Basic and Core Attacks against targets inflicted by these DOT’s. The second part of his Passive enables his Berserker gameplay, increasing his Skill Damage by 1% for every 2% HP lost, up to a maximum of 49% increase with 1-2% HP left. A notable feature of his [Bleed] is that inflicts 1% HP damage every 3 seconds compared to usual 0.6% per 3 seconds. 

His Second skill, ‘Extreme Attack: Beast Form’ grants him Super Armor, a massive 30% Basic Attack and Attack Speed boost at the cost of 15% Additional Damage taken lasting for 12 seconds. His Ultimate Skill deals huge damage if landed while SMBaek is in critical condition (that is below 30% HP) as its damage increases by 10% for every 10% HP lost in addition to damage gains from his Passive! Talk about a lot of damage.

Advancements

With a recent update devs have finally remembered SMBaek’s existence and buffed his damage and survivability! Let us take a look.

  • A1: His cornerstone, it grants him up to 36% Critical Rate and Critical Damage buffs over 12 seconds whenever he uses his Skill 2 Extreme Attack: Beast Form. He also loses 10% of his Current HP, leading to further damage increase due to his Passive, gains a shield equivalent to 20% of his Max HP to mitigate the HP loss (with a potential 80% uptime) and lastly a 15% Damage Reduction. Absolutely huge as he gains tons of benefits all things considered.

  • A2: Simple but effective 10% HP increase.

  • A3: SMBaek starts the battle at half HP but in return gets a Shield equivalent to HP lost, allowing him to jump directly into battle with a lot of damage gains from Passive. Furthermore, as long as the Shield is not broken, he possesses Super Armor effect allowing him to go ham without fear of messing up the Rotation or Burst window.

  • A4 & A5: Further Damage increases, turning his Basic Attacks into the strongest Left Click spam currently available.

Weapon & Gear

His weapon, Howling White Tiger’s Soul, a mouthful to pronounce is yet another steroid for him, improving his Basic Attacks damage and adding an effect that causes SMBaek to lose 0.5% of his Current HP every second and in return deal True Damage equivalent to 0.5% of enemy’s Current HP. This is very noticeable on high HP enemies where current HP damage is enabled (Unfortunately for him, not that many as Ennio/Workshop enemies are immune among others). Regardless, thanks to all these current HP damage sources he stays as one of best units to cheese High Deficit content.

However this weapon is not a priority currently, given that SMBaek struggles to perform well in current Endgame Content. You can consider getting one copy for minimum Current HP damage effect unlock, but dupes are huge resource sink with low return when looking at more recent and relevant Hunters.

SmBaek's potential scaling through raw stats is very high, and you will want to maximize Attack, Crit stats, but also HP to make his low health thresholds easier to reach without risking a one shot while also increasing his secondary dot damage.

Gear wise, he greatly benefits from 8x Burning Curse set, but can also use 4x Dragon Knight Set as Basic and Core Attacks are his main damage sources. In regards to Jewelry, he is one of few Hunters who can exploit 4x Berserker set to limits, inferior alternatives would be Outstanding Ability (if can tag him out to let him recover), Expert, Executioner or even Champion on the Field. Sub-stats wise, you are looking at Attack, Critical Rate, Critical Damage stats for damage maximization, HP can also be considered to reach low HP% thresholds easier without risking being one-shot.

Team Composition and Synergy

Dark recently has seen a shift from a fairly disjointed roster of Lim Tae Gyu, Lee Bora and SMBaek to a more synergizing and Ultimate centric team of Harper and Charlotte. Despite this, SMBaek remains as a valuable pick for 3rd slot or even being used as the Main DPS of Dark Team. Dark is one of few elements without dedicated Healer/Support and SMBaek has all the tools needed to excel by himself. His recent buffs have also made him a competent Auto unit, although he still falls short if enemies can deal high sustained damage.

As such, you’d better not count him out for he can be a strong option for any Dark weak content, despite his potential struggles against new Dungeon Boss Kaisellin (due to his powerful Lightning Aura dealing continuous damage to Melee Units)

Should you Pull?

In his current state, Maybe. SMBaek might be the first Dark Hunter to be replaced as the Dark meta is shaping itself around Twins, and with those two in focus, it seems inevitable that the 3rd slot would be eventually dedicated to a Supporter that can make them shine, making it harder for SMBaek to squeeze in, especially if we get any Dark Healer. As such, it is better to adopt a wait and see approach before pulling him, as next Workshop of Brilliant Light stages might make it hard to utilize his kit.

Investment
  • F2P - A1, as the gains on his first dupe are very significant.

  • Dolphins - A3, as it considerably shortens his ramp up time and boosts his survivability.

  • Whales - A5, should you decide to invest in him in the first place as there is no scoring content where he is competitive.
