Review
Joining the ongoing trend of DEF scaling DPS, Lennart Niermann is a very powerful Wind DPS, specialized in inflicting tremendous damage against low mobility enemies.
Incredible Damage potential.
Very simple to play.
Requires Dupes to work.
Needs enemies to stay immobile.
Super long CDs.
Lennart Niermann is a very straightforward Hunter, with incredibly powerful skills that each have a massive cooldown.
His Basic Attacks do nothing special, and represent only a very tiny fraction of his damage. His Core Attack however is interesting, its teleport ability lets you automatically close in on the enemy as long as they’re within 5m of Lennart.
His skill 1 and 2 have a lot in common: both deal enormous damage, feature long CD, have an expensive Mana cost, and take multiple seconds to fully deal their damage within their respective AoEs. Skill 1, Fenriszahn, deals its damage within a small range over 5 seconds without advancements, while Skill 2, Kaisers Rache, deals a bit less damage over 7 seconds at base but in a much larger area. Both skills respectively send the enemy Airborne and inflict Knock Down.
His Support and QTE skills offer nothing special outside of the usual damage, making him a fairly underwhelming Support candidate.
His Ultimate, Todes-Symphonie, however has one of the highest base multipliers in the game at a total 8530.5% damage at lvl10, but that damage is dealt over 7 seconds at no advancements.
At A0, Lennart applies a [Hunter Mark] on the enemies upon using his Ultimate. The debuff lasts 20 secs and changes to [Hunter’s Cage] if the inflicted enemy has/obtains any active HP recovery or [Unrecoverable] effect. The cage debuff lasts for 20 secs and increases by 15% the damage taken by the target from Lennart.
On top of that, whenever Lennart uses Skill 1 or 2 he gains 6 stacks of [Analysis] while using his Ult gives him 12 stacks instantly. The buff stacks up to 20 times without duration, and gives 1 instance of [Super Armor] but 1 stack is consumed every time he takes a hit.
On top of that, as long as Lennart has at least 1 stack of [Analysis], his DEF is increased by 20%.
A1: If 20 stacks of [Analysis] are reached, the [Analysis] stacks are removed in favor of the [Defensive Divination Circle] effect, that is granted to the entire team, giving everyone in his team Super Armor, 30% Crit DMG and 30% DEF for 20 secs.
A2: Lennart’s Wind damage increases by 30%. This is one of the strongest personal buffs on an A2 node.
A3: The duration of Skill 1, 2 and the Ultimate increase by 3 seconds. Also, when any Wind team member uses their Basic Skills, Lennart recovers 3% of his MP and gains 5% Ultimate Gauge.
A4: Every Wind ally in the team gives 14% DEF to the Wind allies in the team and aside from that, the entire team’s HP is increased by 8%.
A5: [Hunter’s Cage] effect is doubled, to 30% increase in the damage received from Lennart for 40 secs, he gets 10 stacks of [Analysis] upon entering a stage, and his Ultimate CD is reduced to 20 secs.
Lennart’s weapon, The Weight of Responsibility, gives him up to 50% DEF depending on its advancement, and makes his S1, S2, Ultimate or Support Paralyze enemies for up to 5 secs. This effect has a 20 sec CD.
Accordingly, you want this weapon A5 as soon as you can.
For his gear, Lennart is one of the few characters with different builds depending on his Advancement:
At A3 and above, Lennart makes the most use out of 4 Iron Will and 4 Obsidian, with 8 Infamy being a viable option for Guild Boss and Power of Destruction.
Below A3 however, Lennart is too Mana hungry and cannot use the Obsidian set at all. For this reason either stick to 8 Infamy, or go for a combo of 4 Iron Will/Curse + 4 Curse/Infamy.
A3 Lennart can afford to go for fully offensive substats, so pick what you need among Crit DMG, DMG Increase and DEF Pen. 1 Crit RATE is a viable option if you can’t get any artifacts with it.
For the sets:
Nameless Demon for ATK slot, as A5 Lennart spams his Ultimate and none of the others are currently useful to him anyway;
Watcher or Nameless Demon (with Guardian Set support!) in the DEF slot;
Watcher for the HP slot.
Goto Ryuji is an exceptional teammate for Lennart, massively boosting his damage, while Lennart buffs Goto’s HP, amplifying their synergy.
Han Se-Mi is currently the only viable option for Wind buffs, but this could change very soon with the G-IDLE collab.
If you’re looking for a beast of a DPS, yes. Lennart, once A3-5, deals absurd amounts of damage to low mobility enemies, and much like Kanae and now Water Cha he sets himself apart from the rest of the Hunter roster.
Keep in mind however that the G-IDLE collab is fast approaching, and 5 collab Hunters have been confirmed to release within the next couple of months.
We still don’t know if they’ll be limited, but if you’re interested in them it’s potentially a LOT of summons required to collect and advance them all.
Also, if you’re currently satisfied with the performance of your Mirei and aren’t interested in taking your Scores in GB and PoD to new heights there’s little reason to pull for Lennart.
For F2P: A3 is our recommendation. Lennart has a barely functioning kit for long fights without the insane Mana regen on his A3 and you’re likely to face the same troubles you could experience with Kanae without enough Mana regen;
For Dolphins and Whales: Go all the way to A5. Lennart’s damage is ridiculous, and you’re shooting yourself in the foot if you decide to stick with your Mirei for content like Guild Boss or PoD.
Lennart Niermann rating takes into account their performance in all matter of PVE content.

For SSR characters, you always want to use their Signature/EX Weapon - they are simply the best for them. Until you obtain the signature weapon, just use the options listed below. The priority is set from left to right. Also, If you have a Signature/EX weapon for a Hunter that is not in your team you can consider using it for the raw stats alone - as long as it matches the character.
