Overview

Leading the rest of the collab units, Soyeon joins the game as a Wind Breaker unit. Let’s see if her rapping capabilities can get her a spot at the top of the tier list.

Pros & Cons
Pros

  • Limited character.

  • Works at lower dupes.

Cons

  • Sidegrade to a non limited hunter.

  • Limited to multi team content.

Review

Soyeon is an Attack scaling Wind Breaker capable of bringing good personal damage and a mix of buffing and debuffing prowess. Let’s see how she performs!

Her Basic Attack, Rapid Verse, is your typical 3 hit combo dealing weak Break damage. Her Core Attack, Remix Shot, is similar, dealing weak Break damage.

Her Skill 1, Kill the Mic, deals medium Break instead and also adds [Super Armor] to Soeyon when she uses this skill, her Skill 2 is Hook and Chain and also deals medium Break without any additional effect.

Her QTE Cypher Flow deals Medium Break as well and finally, her Ultimate Killing Verse inflicts Heavy Break on the enemy. The final piece of her base kit is her Support Skill that grants the [Lockdown] buff on SJW and inflicts [Underdog] on the enemy, increasing the Wind damage received  and damage taken.

So far she looks pretty basic, but as we’ve seen with the other characters most of their perks come from their buffs.

Ascension Passives
  • At A0, using her Skill 1 and 2 (and their upgraded version, more details later!) will load Soyeon’s Magnum with 1 bullet - this is a special counter that will be used for extra effects on specific skills. Using Hook and Chain triggers the [Beat Maker] effect and using Kill the Mic within 20 seconds of the expiration of [Beat Maker] grants Soyeon the [Drop the beat] buff. Confused? Let’s discuss what these buffs do.

  • [Beat Maker] turns Kill the Mic to Kill the Mic 2, increasing its damage by 100%. Hook and Chain becomes Hook and Chain 2, increasing the damage by 50%. Soyeon gains [Super Armor] when using one of the two skills and the buff expires after using either of the skills - or when 10 seconds have passed.

  • Meanwhile, [Drop the Beat] is related to her Core Attacks: it readies it upon activation and turns it into Remix Shot Ver 2, raising the damage by 50% and firing an extra shot when she has bullets loaded, consuming one round of [Magnum] and activating the [Magnum Chain] buff. This buff raises her Core Attack damage by 15%, recovers her MP by 8 and charges the user's Power Gauge by 3 seconds. This buff can stack up to 6 times.

  • At A1, when Soyeon or team members Break an enemy, the duration of the Break status is extended by 3 seconds. When using her Skill 1 and 2 she now recharges 2 rounds of [Magnum] instead of 1 and when she hits the enemy with her enhanced Skill 1 or 2 she inflicts the enemy with the [Diss Battle] debuff, increasing the Wind damage taken and the damage received by 1% per stack, capping at 5. This debuff lasts 30 seconds

  • A2 is your generic Break effectiveness increase, never bad to ensure you can Break the target as fast as possible.

  • A3 adds the [Beat Boost] to the entire team, buffing the Ultimate damage by 15% and the Wind damage by 10%. This is an infinite duration boost, so it’s pretty nice and impactful. She also grants the third Wind party member 10% Power Gauge charge when loading her Magnum with rounds.

  • At A4 she increases the Wind damage of all the allies by 3% for every Wind ally in the team, great in Guild Bosses.

  • Lastly, A5 pimps up her existing buffs: [Magnum Chain] now adds 30% Core damage instead of 15% and [Diss Battle] now can stack up to 10 times, doubling the maximum debuff value.

Weapon and Gear

Soyeon’s weapon, Blazing Flash, buffs the Basic Skill damage of the team by 30%. This is a very significant buff, cementing Soyeon’s role as a hybrid Breaker/buffer in Wind teams.

Being a Breaker you can use the two 8 piece sets, Burning Greed and Chaotic Desire. Greed is great when you want to improve the team’s Critical Rate or when you don’t have another member running the set - in case you are using support SJW in raid, while Chaotic Desire lets Soyeon deal more damage and provide an elemental damage buff to the team.

Gearwise you should focus on Attack, Critical Rate and Critical Damage, as this will maximise her damage.

Team Setups

Soyeon is a powerful Wind Breaker that can be paired with Mirei or Lennart and be a very suitable replacement or alternative to Goto. Who you want to use as a first choice depends on the DPS: Lennart can use both Goto and Soyeon (even together!) but Mirei might appreciate Soyeon more considering she isn’t increasing her MP consumption, while buffing her Basic Skill damage that is a significant portion of her kit.

Should you roll for Soyeon?

Let’s start the discussion with the usual disclaimer for all the collab characters: Soyeon is a collab unit that may very likely never come back. Because of that she can appear as a very appealing unit, considering you either get her now or might never get more copies in the future. As part of the collaboration players will get one copy of Soyeon for free, and it’s very easy to get her to A1 to unlock her [Diss Battle] debuff.

Wind at the moment is a very solid element, especially with the addition of Jinah, but she is a sidegrade to Goto, meaning she is not a necessity for players not invested in Guild Boss.

However, the tune changes significantly if you are planning to be more competitive in Guild Boss or PoD. With all the buffs based on the number of allies of a specific element and the recent introduction of Jinah, Soyeon wraps up the Wind team as she can support Mirei in team 2 while inflicting debuffs on the enemy to maximise your team 1 damage. If you decide to invest in her she will lead you to higher Rage counts… and be prepared for the Diss Tracks if you won’t believe in her being capable of making a difference!

  • For F2P players with not many resources A1 Soyeon is the first stopping point, since it adds her [Diss Battle] buff for more damage on the enemy while getting more rounds.

  • Dolphins and small spenders should aim for A3 since it introduces her [Beat Boost] buff while also charging up the Power Gauge of your slot 3 ally.

  • If you are a dedicated Guild Boss or PoD player you probably guessed it - A5 is the way to go, as she will elevate your score for more consistency.

Best Weapons

For SSR characters, you always want to use their Signature/EX Weapon - they are simply the best for them. Until you obtain the signature weapon, just use the options listed below. The priority is set from left to right. Also, If you have a Signature/EX weapon for a Hunter that is not in your team you can consider using it for the raw stats alone - as long as it matches the character.
