Novaflare Character Enhancement System

After the Version 3.4 update, Silver Wolf, Blade, Kafka, and Jingliu will receive ability adjustments and improvements that improve their performance. In this guide we will go over the buffs themselves and how they impact the character. Full reviews and ratings adjustment will be released when the 3.4 patch goes live - this is just a preview.
Silver Wolf
Main Changes
- Ultimate now hits and debuffs ALL enemies; Toughness Reduction lowered from 30 > 20; DMG Multiplier unchanged.
- Weakness Implant now prioritizes the Weakness corresponding to the first ally in the lineup.
- Weakness Implant on defeated targets will now be transferred to other enemies (with Elite priority).
- Base chance on most effects have been increased:
- Weakness Implant 85% > 120%
- Bugs 72% > 100%
- Ultimate 100% > 120%
- Both old Traces that extend the Weakness Implant duration and further reduce All-Type RES are now included in the Skill by default.
- DEF Reduction Bug improved from 8% to 12%.
- NEW: Regenerates 20 Energy at the start of battle, and 5 Energy at the start of every turn.
- NEW: Gains 10% ATK for every 10% Effect Hit Rate, up to 50%.
- Eidolon changes:
- E2: Enemies are permanently inflicted with20%DMG Vulnerability, and any ally attacks can also apply Bugs (this is useful for debuff application with Acheron).
Changes Overview
Silver Wolf has received all-around improvements - out of the first batch of buffed units, she arguably received the most benefit from the changes, making her a universal and meta support. Her debuffs are much more reliable with higher base chance to apply and guaranteed Weakness Implant to match the first ally. Also, the extra Energy regeneration from the new Trace can allow for more flexible rotation and builds.
Her Ultimate is now one of the highest AoE DMG Multipliers in the game, totaling up to 1900% against 5 targets, while also being able to reduce all enemies' DEF by 57% from her kit alone. Combined with her self-ATK buffs and DMG amplifying debuffs that also work for herself, she can become a sub-dps unit who is especially useful when utilizing her Weakness Implant, and when stacking DEF Reduction.
This makes her a solid pick in teams where they just need a strong DMG amplifier against Memory of Chaos, and especially in Apocalyptic Shadows thanks to her Weakness Implant. Although she will still struggle in Pure Fiction due to her debuffs disappearing when defeated enemies leave the field.
Silver Wolf Build Changes
The main changes to Silver Wolf’s build is now her Effect Hit Rate requirements has been lowered to around 50-67%. Also, the Effect Hit Rate required to guarantee her Weakness Implant and DEF Reduction is now at 40%. Still, you want to build some extra Effect Hit Rate to 50% for the ATK conversion, or to 67% to guarantee the secondary All-Type RES Reduction from Skill and to guarantee the Bug application.
Previously Silver Wolf relied on Before the Tutorial Mission Light Cone for Energy Regeneration and Effect Hit Rate. Now that she has innate regeneration for Ultimate debuff uptime, it allows her to equip more offensive Light Cones such as Cipher’s Signature Light Cone - which is now her best in slot for support build, or other debuffing Light Cones such as Resolution Shines as Pearls of Sweat or the new 3.4 Battle Pass Nihility Light Cone.
Another option is to build Silver Wolf for DMG with Light Cones such as Acheron’s Signature and 4-Pc Genius of Brilliant Stars. This will require high-end builds with a lot of investment into CRIT, Effect Hit Rate, SPD, ATK substats to allow her Ultimate to deal pretty significant AoE DMG.
Kafka
Main Changes
- Skill now triggers DoT on adjacent targets at 50% rate.
- Talent's Follow-up ATK now triggers DoT on the primary target at 80% rate.
- Ultimate DoT trigger rate increased from 100% to 120%.
- Gains 1 Follow-up ATK charge after using Ultimate.
- Base chance Trace removed - now only has 100% base chance to apply DoTs.
- Now buffs all allies whose Effect Hit Rate is over 75%, increasing their ATK by 100%.
- Eidolon changes:
- E1: Vulnerability now triggers on all attacks instead of just the Follow-up ATK.
- E2: DoT buff increased from 25% to 33%.
Changes Overview
Kafka’s buffs slightly pivots her role from a DoT DMG dealer to more of a support role. She can increase the ATK of all allies by 100% if their Effect Hit Rate exceeds 75% (including herself). Funnily enough, this makes it more efficient to build Effect Hit Rate on supports like Robin that benefits from ATK. About the support role, using her Ultimate now also grants her 1 more use of the Talent’s Follow-up ATK, which can now trigger DoTs on the target. Lastly, her Skill now also triggers DoT on adjacent targets. All of it combined makes Kafka trigger DoTs much more often while also buffing the entire team.
Kafka Build Changes
With the removal of the base chance increase Trace, she now wants to build Effect Hit Rate to at least 75% for the guaranteed DoT application and for the 100% ATK increase since it is more efficient in terms of substat value.
Version 3.4 also introduces a brand new Planar Ornament set, Revelry by the Sea, which is a dedicated set for DoT characters. However, it is not a big upgrade over previous sets. For the traditional DMG-focused Kafka, only replace her Body with Effect Hit Rate, and the rest can remain unchanged.
The changes also introduces a new way to build Kafka which is to get as many turns and Ultimate uses as possible by equipping an Energy Rope, either 2-Pc SPD sets or 4-Pc Eagle of the Twilight Line, and a debuffing Light Cone. Before the Tutorial Mission Starts also works on Kafka to maximum Ultimate spam, since her Ultimate will now also grant an extra Talent charge for more DoT triggers.
Blade
Main Changes
- Now has increased Taunt while Skill is active.
- No longer hybrid HP + ATK scaling - now scales purely on HP.
- HP scaling is increased by around 30% across the board to compensate for the ATK scaling removal.
- Follow-up ATK Energy Regeneration increased from 10 to 20.
- Healing now counts toward his HP lost tally for Ultimate DMG, andUltimate now only clears 50% of the HP lost tally instead of the 100%.
- Eidolon changes:
- E1: has been buffed massively, now applying to his Enhanced Basic ATK.
Changes Overview
One of the annoying factors previously for Blade was that he was reliant on enemy attacks for Charges, but he did not have any inherent ways to increase his chance of getting attacked or a guaranteed Taunt. Now, his chance of getting attacked will be increased while his Skill is active, allowing him to gain more Charges, Energy from getting attacked, and also more HP lost tally for his Ultimate.
Most of his Bonus Ability Traces weren't as impactful and have now been replaced with more useful ones, such as increasing his Energy from Follow-up ATKs, from 10 to 20, and also converting healing received to Ultimate's HP lost tally.
Previously Blade was also being held back by underwhelming Eidolons, and while this is still the case for the rest of his Eidolons, his first Eidolon has been buffed to now increase his Enhanced Basic ATK DMG significantly against one designated enemy, potentially doubling the DMG against the primary target.
Blade Build Changes
Most of Blade’s build will remain the same as he hasn’t changed in terms of functionality. Light Cones that increase his chances of being attacked (Yunli’s Signature) are now not really viable on him as before, as stacking Taunt Value has diminishing returns.
Jingliu
Main Changes
- Stat scaling changed from ATK to HP.
- Talent ATK buff changed to CRIT DMG. The buff is no longer based on the amount of HP drained.
- Syzygy stacks limit is increased from 3 to 4.
- Now gains an extra Syzygy stack when entering Enhanced State.
- Gains 1 Syzygy stack after allies lose HP for a total of 20 times. There is no limit on this.
- Traces reworked - removed 10% Action Advance on normal Skill.
- Now regenerates 35 Energy on normal Skill and 38 Energy on Enhanced Skill.
- When obtaining excess Syzygy stacks, enables the next attack toignore 25% DEF.
- Eidolons changes:
- E1: CRIT DMG Boost from 24% > 36%. Additional DMG will now always be triggered regardless of target count, additionally dealing DMG equal to 80% of her HP.
- E4: ATK buff changed to CRIT DMG buff.
- E6: 50% CRIT DMG buff changed to 30% All-Type RES PEN; Additional Syzygy gain from 1 to 2.
Changes Overview
Jingliu was one of the strongest DPS during her release, back when our unit pool was still pretty limited, and without any limited Harmony support. Her self-buffs were extremely high which made her relevant, but in return her base multipliers were on the lower end. Over time once we received stronger supports Jingliu quickly lost her spot on the top of the meta, which is worsened by the fact that her Enhanced State had a mandatory downtime, her normal Skill has a less than standard Energy regeneration of 20, which also lead to her Ultimate rotations being inconsistent due to the high 140 Energy cost.
With the rework, Jingliu now scales purely on HP instead of ATK. This can slightly limit her support pick options although this is not much of an issue anymore due to the amount that has been released. The most important change here is that she now gains 1 "Syzygy" stack after allies lose HP 20 times. Jingliu's Enhanced Skill can drain HP from other allies and count towards this. Having Remembrance characters on the team can assist with her stacks by providing an extra target to lose HP.
With that and by getting hit from enemies enough time, Jingliu can achieve a permanent uptime on her Enhanced State. Having Hyacine (or RMC) with Hyacine Signature Light Cone trivializes requirement by providing an additional target that can lose HP, and also trigger a teamwide HP lost through her Light Cone effect.
Jingliu Build Changes
Unfortunately those that have perfected Jingliu's relics will have to farm new pieces for her. She can no longer use any ATK% stats and now scale solely on HP. In fact, she gains so much CRIT DMG from her Talent and teammates that the optimal way to build her is to run HP% Body, and HP% substats are more valuable than CRIT DMG generally.
This also means that the Destruction Light Cone that is wanted by every character, On the Fall of An Aeon, is no longer viable on her. Instead, the event Light Cone “Ninja Record: Sound Hunt” is now her best accessible option from the Event. One thing that is worth noting is that her Signature Light Cone hasn’t been changed at all, and is being left with its Base HP at the lower end. Currently, Mydei’s Signature Light Cone performs better than her own due to its high Base HP, and the passive works with Jingliu as long as her Max HP exceeds 8334.
