Introduction
The promised day has finally arrived, fellow Duelist brothers and sisters! After nearly 2 months of suffering and feeling inferior to Sorcerers in all regards, it’s time for us to shine! Tier 4 is the moment where Duelist takes the first spot for the best DPS class across nearly all content - yes, this includes Dungeons that were the bane of our existence till now.
So, what has changed for us to make it possible?
It’s not a single thing for sure, but rather a combination of things. First of all, we’re switching away from Physical build to Elemental build, finally being able to take a bigger advantage of the Relics you were gathering in previous maps. Furthermore, while we already have some sources of DEF Shred (some skills have it; Nyx has it), a new dedicated Charm takes it to a new level - basically allowing us to deal ‘true’ damage, ignoring the defenses of the pesky monsters, drastically improving our damage output. The Charm’s name is
Piercing Assault and it’s your number-one target to obtain and ascend on this tier - and to make it even better, you will also use it on Tier 5 and beyond, so it’s a long-term investment on top of being super strong short term!
Gameplay-wise, on top of very strong Charms, the Elemental skills we will be using also have a bigger range, and thanks to it, Dungeons finally won’t be a chore, as you won’t have any issues targeting and killing a lot of enemies per turn. This, combined with even better mobility, makes us a terror in the eyes of monsters!
Here are all the skills on this Tier that are worth mentioning and investing in:
Piercing Assault - this Charm allows us to ignore enemy DEF, and the effect is further improved if we have buffs on ourselves,
Tactical Adaptation - another very strong Charm that combines two passives from the previous tiers, and gives us either a big offensive or defensive buff, depending on how many enemies are nearby,
Flickering Blade - the best skill on this Tier, hands down. While it deals single-target damage, it has a unique mechanic: there’s a 60%chance for the skill to repeat itself if the target is still alive - and this can happen up to two times. There’s a bit of RNG involved, but if luck is on your side, you will do devastating damage with it. Oh, and it has no cooldown at all, so you can use it every single turn,
Blade Storm - the best AoE skill we get at this tier - has a big range and hits hard!

Flame Aura can be replaced by
Darkness Descends if you want more mobility and need the Dispel - also a better option in PVP.Once you get enough Crit Rate from the new gear, you can drop
Insightful Eye and replace it with a more offensive Charm - for example, with
Soul Breaker .This will happen quite soon because S2 gear offers much higher Crit Rate values than S1 gear. Just keep in mind that S2 enemies have 18% Crit Res by default, so you need to reach 118% Crit Rate if you want to have 100% Crit Rate in PVE content.
If you’re strong enough and not dying on the stage/dungeon, replace
Indomitable Will with another offensive Charm. For this spot,
Soul Splash works really well thanks to
Flickering Blade. Always keep
Indomitable Will for PVP.

Sub Stats
All item slots will roll a number of additional stats on them, which are chosen randomly from a universal pool. Below is roughly the order of priority to look out for on your gear; however, just because an item has great additional stats doesn’t make it the best choice. Make sure to consider the item's overall power and whether it has the optimal secondary stats as well.

Fantomon
Here are the best Fantomons you can use on Conqueror:
Nyxarchon - obvious best in slot that deals additional damage and provides DEF shred debuff - used in all content.
Pandarial you won’t be able to obtain the new S2 Fantomon until like 50 days into the season, but it’s a good alternative to Nyx for generic content. It allows you to frontload your damage more by reducing the initial cooldowns and also provides some healing and DMG buffs. Still, DEF shred stacking is the name of the game on T4 and T5, so Nyx often provides more raw damage, especially in longer battles,
Aegiswing - mostly a PVP-focused pet that provides you with another cheat death and, later, also Taunt (in battle mode),
Sylvaerie - gives you basically a permanent ATK and SPD buff - both stats that you really want as a Duelist,
Zeioletus - provides you with additional damage burst every turn - depending on your stats, it may perform better than Sylva, but for most people, the benefit from her buffs will outperform Zeioletus.
Terragon - similar to Zeioletus, but directly working with Physical Damage instead, which should scale better for Warrior classes while also providing ATK reduction on enemies at a low base chance (25%)
Gems
The Inlay system allows you to infuse Gems into your gear, and in season 2, you can infuse 2 Gems per gear once your gear reaches level 130. Gems don’t have to be different in a slot, so you can stack 2 Obsidian Gems just fine. Priority is top-to-bottom, but be aware of your total power; check whether you need it to surpass a certain checkpoint.
Weapon
Obsidian (Black) > Amethyst (Purple) >= Ruby (Red)
Obsidian (Black): The best option due to the DMG Boost% combined with ATK%, but the gem is rarer than others, so it usually costs more on the market. Unless you’re a big spender, it’s better to just sell your Obsidians on the Market and reinvest the currency into your account,
Amethyst (Purple): Provides Crit Rate% and Speed - Crit Rate is really important for Duelist, and Speed is also great, allowing us to lap other classes (and enemies) more easily.
Ruby (Red): Gives a lot of ATK%, but we’re getting a lot of this stat from other sources, so it gets diluted eventually. Still, before this happens, it’s a decent option.
Off-hand
Obsidian (Black) > Amethyst (Purple) >= Citrine (Yellow)
Obsidian (Black): The best option due to the DMG Boost% combined with ATK%, but the gem is rarer than others, so it usually costs more on the market. Unless you’re a big spender, it’s better to just sell your Obsidians on the Market and reinvest the currency into your account,
Amethyst (Purple): Provides Crit Rate% and Speed - Crit Rate is really important for Duelist, and Speed is also great, allowing us to lap other classes (and enemies) more easily.
Citrine (Yellow): Provides only Speed, which makes it a worse option than Amethyst, but Citrines are cheaper and easier to obtain than either Amethyst or Obsidian.
Boots
Amethyst (Purple) > Citrine (Yellow)
Amethyst (Purple): Provides Crit Rate% and Speed - Crit Rate is really important for Duelist, and Speed is also great, allowing us to lap other classes (and enemies) more easily.
Citrine (Yellow): Provides only Speed, which makes it a worse option than Amethyst, but Citrines are cheaper and easier to obtain.
Armor
Moonstone (White) > Beryl (Green) = Sapphire (Blue)
Moonstone (White): The best option that provides DMG RES% and DEF, but it’s very expensive to obtain (same as Obsidian).
Beryl (Green): Provides HP%, increasing your EHP pool.
Usually, you want to mix and match Greens with Blues here to get the biggest boost.
Sapphire (Blue): Provides DEF%, increasing your EHP pool.
Usually, you want to mix and match Greens with Blues here to get the biggest boost.
Helm
Citrine (Yellow) > Beryl (Green) = Sapphire (Blue)
Citrine (Yellow): Best option for this slot, providing tons of Speed.
Beryl (Green) or Sapphire (Blue): In rare cases, you might want to use them in this slot, but only when you have DEF/HP conversion to ATK on your gear. Still, Citrine usually just is the better option here.
