Review
Rice Shower believes she brings misfortune to others, but does her kit bring misfortune to the player? Rice Shower is a Medium/Long Distance runner. While she has a B aptitude in Front, you’ll almost always be using her in Pace Chaser. Her kit is consistent in the sense that most effects activate reliably, but she has several problems that prevent her from being a fully good racer UMA. Still, her consistency makes her great for Team Trials.
One issue is her stat bonuses: Stamina +10% and Guts +20%. These are not ideal, since Guts is usually not a stat you want to prioritize, making her harder to build.
Her unique skill, Blue Rose Closer, activates fairly consistently, but its effect is unfortunately not very strong. Determined Descent, the gold version of Straight Descent, is only situationally useful if the downhill section of a race occurs right before or as the Last Spurt begins. Otherwise, it does not provide much value. She also has Highlander, which is essentially the same but for uphill sections. In general, acceleration skills are only truly effective when they activate around the Last Spurt. So while this skillset can be helpful depending on the race, it remains situational. She does have Subdued Pace Chaser, which, like all Subdued skills for any race style, is quite strong and activates consistently, making it a good debuff skill.
Her most common distance will most likely be Long, and thankfully she comes with several recovery skills. Deep Breath is a bit inconsistent, like most straight recovery skills. Her gold recovery skill, Cooldown, the gold version of Hydrate, has the same issue, making it weaker compared to Gourmand, another gold Hydrate skill. Despite this, having built-in recovery is still helpful, so she is not too hard to build, though her stat bonuses remain a drawback.
On the career mode side, in the event Looking on the Bright Side in her career mode, you can get Firm Conditions by picking the bottom option. This is a strong skill and usually better than choosing the +10 Guts option. Another warning is that her race can be quite tough, since when you enter the Tenno Sho Spring, you should already have around 600 stamina or some recovery skill to make up for it, otherwise you risk failing the run.
Overall, Rice Shower is an Uma with mostly situational usage as a pure racer, excelling in certain specific races. She has Determined Descent, which is useful on some tracks, but other Umas with the skill perform much better, and others can simply inherit the white version or obtain the gold version from a support card. However, in Team Trials, her reliably activating skill set, including her Unique, makes her a solid choice, since Team Trials are all about maximizing score.
