Legacies Guide

Before each run in Umamusume, you can choose two of your trained umas to act as the new uma’s legacies. Most people will refer to these as the “parent” umas. These parents will pass down various things to your new uma, including stats and aptitudes, both at the start of the run and during the two events in April during training.

You can see the Sparks of your uma on the “Inspiration” tab of their stat screen.

Guide

These are the only things that matter for how good of a parent the uma is. An S rank uma and a C rank uma with the same sparks will give the same bonuses when used as a parent.

So, what are these bonuses exactly?

Before the Run

Blue sparks will increase your uma’s starting stats. The more stars, the more it will be increased.

★★★★★
51221

That Nice Nature parent above has 1 star of Speed for +5, then the grandparent Halo has 2 stars of Stamina for +12, and the grandparent Rudolf has 3 stars of Stamina for +21.

Guide

Pinks will increase your aptitudes, up to A rank. The first upgrade takes one star, and each additional one takes 3, up to a maximum of 10. So, you can raise an aptitude by at most four ranks at the start.

Number of Stars:G Rank goes to…
1~3F
4~6E
7~9D
10~12C
13~15C

We can see by the highlighting in the above image that the Long aptitude has been raised thanks to the Long factors. The Turf hasn’t been raised, since it’s already at A.

The green factors on your parents will give you hints for their unique skills, but the green factors on your grandparents will not.

Those are the only sparks that do anything at the start. You may also notice the affinity score at the top right.

Guide

Affinity is a number that represents the compatibility between your uma and her legacies. Each uma has a set compatibility score with each other uma.

Affinity Calculator

This can be raised by doing more races. Each graded race a parent wins that their grandparent also won gives +1 affinity. The triangle means it’s 50 or less, and the double circles mean it’s 151 or more. It scales linearly, so having 148 and having 152 is not a big difference, despite going from circle to double circle. It’s just an easy reference for how good your affinity is. The higher your affinity, the better your inspiration events. Speaking of which…

Inspiration Events

During the second and third years of a training run, in April, there will be an inspiration event. This is where the uma is running with the shooting stars.

All the sparks can trigger here to give you additional benefits, but how often they do isn’t straight forward. First, here’s the base chance of the different types of sparks activating:

Spark type↓ / Base chance→☆1 Rate☆2 Rate☆3 Rate
Blue70%80%90%
Pink1%3%5%
Green (Unique Skill)5%10%15%
Race Whites1%2%3%
Other Whites3%6%9%

These numbers are then increased by your affinity, as a percent. So, if you had 50 affinity with your parent, their sparks would have a 1.5x chance of being activated during these events. This is halved on grandparents.

Notably, this means if you have really bad affinity with your parents, you might not even get their blues! This makes umas with poor base affinity, like Urara, also bad parents. Umas also have zero affinity with themselves, so an uma being her own grandparent is also bad.

When a blue triggers here, you get stats in a range based on how many stars it has. This is also weighted by affinity, with more affinity meaning higher average rolls.

Pinks will raise your aptitudes, and can push them up to S. Even a single star triggering will do this.

Greens and skill whites give you hints for that skill.

Scenario whites will give you stats. The URA Scenario white will give +10~30 Speed and Stamina.

Race whites vary depending on the race, but will give you between 3~9 of two stats, or one stat and a hint for a skill.

The End of the Run

At the end of the run, you get to see which sparks your newly trained uma gets. How are these determined?

For blues, the stat is chosen randomly between the five stats, and then it checks how high that stat is to determine how many stars to give you.

Stat Value<600600~1100>1100
1 Star Factor~90%~50%~20%
2 Star Factor~10%~45%~70%
3 Star Factor0%~6%~10%

For pinks, it’s chosen between all of your aptitudes that are at A or better. For them, the stars follow the same pattern as stats above 1100. That is, a 10% chance for 3 stars, and a 20% chance of 1 star.

We’re lacking data about green stars, but in a magazine interview, the devs said having a higher skill level will make it more likely to have high stars.

You have a chance to get white sparks for each skill you have. If it’s a white skill, it’s a 20% chance. If it’s a ◎ skill, it’s 25%. If it’s a gold skill, it’s 40%. For each parent or grandparent that also has the spark, you add 2.5%, or 5% for the gold skills. So, if everyone in your legacy had the same white, and you got that white’s gold skill during the run, it would be a 70% chance of getting the spark.

For each G1 race you won, you also have a 20~30% chance of getting a white spark for that race.

If you finished the scenario, there’s another 20~30% chance of getting a white spark for the scenario.
