Introduction
For those of you reading this guide that are not familiar with gacha games and tried Uma Musume to figure out why everyone is crazy for this horse girl game, rerolling is the act of repeating the beginning of the game multiple times in order to get an optimal result from the initial pulls that the game gives you.
Being a game that places a lot of importance on your support deck in order to breed strong Umas, rerolling is STRONGLY advised in this game.
It is not mandatory and will not affect your experience if you only wish to do the career mode with the characters you like, but the process takes so little time it's very worth investing the effort to have an umazing start.
The Process
We are going to start with the assumption you never played the game before.
- After downloading the game you will be required to create an account, select a guest account here.
- After putting your birthday and Trainer name, you will be prompted to begin the tutorial. Your birthday is actually important because if you are not 18+, it will restrict your ability to spend money in the game. If you are a spender or plan to spend, please keep this in mind.
- After doing the above you will continue with the tutorial that will show you an in-game race and give you a quick rundown of how career mode works. It's okay if it sounds confusing at first because we also have plenty of guides to help you figure out how the game works after you finished rerolling your dream account!
- After completing the tutorial you will be able to redeem your gifts inside the inbox, claim milestones rewards and roll the gacha.
- Now let's say you don't like the outcome of your rolls? That's when the rerolling happens!
- Simply go into the settings, then go back to the title screen:

- After that, simply pick the option ‘Delete User data’ to start again from the beginning!

- After that, you will be able to skip the tutorial - the game will ask if you would like to do so, so it’s not mandatory.
The Reroll Phase
So, you cleared the initial step of setting up your rerolls, now what?
As of now, players starting the game will receive:
- 18370 Carats
- One 3★ Uma exchange (basically pick one of the 3* available at launch)
- 3 SSR Support Card Tickets (what you get is random, but there are good SSR Support cards like andFine Motion [Wave of Gratitude])Super Creek [Piece of Mind]
Please keep in mind that the amount of resources available can change drastically depending on celebrations, ongoing campaigns or compensations available for a limited timeframe.
The game also has two groups of release celebration missions that will award you one random 3★ Uma each from the same pool of Umas that you can select with the Uma exchange voucher.
What are we rerolling for?
The general consensus is to reroll for support cards. Unless you are starting the game to play with your favourite UMA - in that case, feel free to reroll for her first and focus on support cards later. The game can be as competitive as you desire, so if you want to simply enjoy the story you can still do so if you focus on rolling Umas early on.
Why aren’t we suggesting rerolling for Umas?
The reason we do not suggest rerolling for Umas - unless very specific occasions like meta defining horses (such as Xmas Oguri in the future), anniversaries, etc - is that you can obtain their shards for free by playing the game. Events like Legend Races, for example, let you obtain shards for horses over time.
What makes a UMA desirable are their skills, attitudes, growth rates and obviously how much you like the character. But what if you could teach those same skills to other Umas? That’s where support cards come in. With the proper support cards you can virtually take any uma and make her super strong as long as you are playing around their strengths, desired race length, surface and position. Furthermore, you can always borrow a specific UMA from your friends if you wish to use them as parents, allowing you to pass a weaker version of their active skill - this is especially great for Umas mostly used for breeding other umas, what we call ‘parent umas’. If you think this is interesting worry not, we got guides on breeding that will cover up everything!
Last, but not least, Uma dupes aren’t super necessary in the game. Getting a 3★ Uma to 4★ and above simply gives a slight stat boost and an increase on their ultimate skill. They are, however, very useful for Umas starting from 1★ and 2★ as 3★ is when Umas unlock their racing gear skin and they can pass on their ultimate as a parent. So 3 star Umas you roll from the gacha are already good to go and getting dupes later on will not progress your account significantly.
What if I want to reroll for Support Cards?
We are glad you asked!
In general, when rerolling for support cards there are currently three big names that come around often:
Umamusume is a game where support card dupes are significantly more important than having variety early on. Vertical investment is rewarded due to the fact dupes increase the level cap of the support card, thus allowing you to unlock more and more bonuses. A lot of cards will become really strong starting three dupes into them (LB3), so this makes rerolling a great way to get a headstart into the game.
You may think that rerolling only involves SSR cards, and that would be a huge mistake. For the reason explained above, SR cards in Uma Musume are crucial in your progression, since you can get dupes on them more easily compared to non rated up SSR allowing you to increase your performance in career mode. We will break down the most commonly used cards per attribute:
Speed Cards
- : The speed queen of Uma Musume,Kitasan Black [Fire at My Heels]does everything you want and some more. Her stats are super strong, her events provide powerful generic skills, energy and even a chance to boost your mood. She has a lot of special priority and can even increase the power that you get. But there’s a catch:Kitasan Black [Fire at My Heels]is a card that requires a lot of investment to be good. To useKitasan Black [Fire at My Heels]you ideally want it to be at least at LB1 and ideally at LB3 or above. Outside of a rate up banner this is virtually impossible, so trying to get a copy or two would be enough. While you can pick her up as a support from friends, it’s a card that rarely leaves your deck, making it a great choice to max overtime to give you more freedom in picking other invested support cards from your friend list.Kitasan Black [Fire at My Heels]
- : while not as strong asSilence Suzuka [Beyond This Shining Moment], it’s fair to mentionKitasan Black [Fire at My Heels]as a very good speed SSR card to include in your decks early on, especially if you are using a front runner uma. More situational but useful if you happen to get her in your rolls.Silence Suzuka [Beyond This Shining Moment]
- : While only being an SR card,Sweep Tosho [Lamplit Training of a Witch-to-Be]is arguably one of the strongest speed cards in the entire game. It has high special priority (the chance of the card appearing on the training of her own attribute basically) as well as good events that can provide useful skills and the ‘Charming’ status. While it’s not possible to ‘rate up’ the card it’s never gonna be a bad choice when starting out your career as a trainer.Sweep Tosho [Lamplit Training of a Witch-to-Be]
- : Another useful SR card,King Halo [First-Rate Plan]provides useful skills when breeding for specific scenarios (Cloudy days, firm conditions) while also having some skills for sprinters. It’s another SR card that benefits heavily from dupes, since it gains more special priority and when maxed it even increases the power gained when training speed.King Halo [First-Rate Plan]
Other usable cards are
Stamina Cards
- : The Kitasan of Stamina cards,Super Creek [Piece of Mind]is another incredible card that is very popular for two big reasons, her universal stamina skill and her ability to carry your stamina gains. Her events are also nice, providing some energy and more stamina.Super Creek [Piece of Mind], likeSuper Creek [Piece of Mind], really benefits from dupes but in a less drastic way: starting one dupe she already provides more stamina when training and at LB3 she gains starting friendship while maxing out her special priority. Because of this, one or two copies are more than enough and you can aim to max the card out as you progress. Her skill is so powerful that even at 0 dupes you can consider using it in your support deck, letting you pick more important supports that benefit from dupes, likeKitasan Black [Fire at My Heels].Kitasan Black [Fire at My Heels]
- : Another SR card in our notable card list! While the card really shines at MLB4 (as this is when it unlocks the biggest special priority bonus for stamina, even higher compared to Super Creek!) It can be useful even earlier due to the very high Mood bonus, increasing the efficiency of training as long as your mood is great. Not as impactful as the speed cards early on but don’t sleep on it, especially if you don’t have a copy ofManhattan Cafe [My Solo Drawn to Raindrop Drums].Super Creek [Piece of Mind]
Power Cards
We don’t really suggest using SSR power cards as a reroll target for now or at least using them as a deciding factor. The notable card to keep an eye on would be
For the SR cards we suggest keeping an eye on
Wit Cards
In case you don’t get
Guts & Friendship Cards
What makes a good reroll?
A perfect reroll consists of having 2 (or better, all 3!) of
Instead of aiming for all 3 of the cards, another suitable approach is to use your gems to try and get dupes of
Umamusume does not have a standard banner, meaning you will be pulling the current rate up banner and hope that you won’t be ‘lucky’.
We have two suggested ways to reroll depending on your current goal:
- Fast Rerolling
- Time: 5-10 minutes per reroll
- Goal: Obtain one copy of SSR (Speed) with Carats. After obtaining SSRKitasan Black [Fire at My Heels]you can try using the tickets and see if you obtainKitasan Black [Fire at My Heels]ofSuper Creek [Piece of Mind], if not, reroll.Fine Motion [Wave of Gratitude]
- Long Rerolling
- Time: Undefined
- Goal: Obtain one copy of SSR and continue rolling on the banner until pity if the rate up card is good. You can get the remaining Carats for this by playing (fulfill achievements and win Graded races).Kitasan Black [Fire at My Heels]
As a last ditch attempt, you can also sell some of your unwanted SR and R support cards in order to get Cleats that you can exchange for SR+ Guaranteed Make Debut Tickets.
In conclusion, after you get your desired start our final advice at this point is rolling for Umas a few times. Even if you don’t get your desired rate up character , obtaining a variety of 1 and 2 stars Umas will give you the last push to your account - plus, increasing friendship with a Uma unlocks their side stories for even more free carats!
To play PVP you can field up to 15 different Umas, and the more umas you field the higher your points - plus, increasing your team total ‘power’ increases your Team Rank for a good chunk of Carat rewards.
