Many people probably know the meme scene about “Pizza with nothing”. Now we have an Identity that is the equivalent of that. Haute Couture::Boutique du Rouge Ishmael is an Identity that lacks identity.
Haute Couture::Boutique du Rouge Ishmael is a Bleed identity that does nothing better than past identities, and her “tanking” is quite special. On a brighter note, she doesn’t need to interact with the Charge mechanic, due to her having the Multicrack special of consuming HP to achieve conditionals. So to summarize, she is a Charge identity with Bleed sprinkled into it (we already have IDs that do well with this combination and it's called HoS Ring IDs), and can be categorized as “tank” (for about 2 turns in Changing Room state, does nothing in said turns) who also consumes her own HP as fast as possible. In other words, her kit is a mess, like her sense of fashion.
Starting with her unique effects:
Changing Room - A state in which she will gain 2 stacks and activates when Ishmael reaches 0 HP, nullifying damage that would kill her or when using Defensive Skill at 10% or lower HP. In exchange, she gains an HP shield equal to her max HP, 10 Aggro, and becomes REALLY hard to kill for 2 turns; however, aside from using her second Defensive Skill, “As the Voice Says, I Gladly Withdraw into Myself,” she is standing there, taking hits while doing basically nothing, as the buffs that she provides while using it being 1 Power Up to 2 Allies and 1 Damage Up (Rouge IDs only) are really not worth it compared to the damage loss.
Full Makeover - Applies when Changing Room stacks drop to 0. Raises her min & max speed by 1, max HP by 25%, reduces damage taken by 10%, and gives +1 Bleed potency infliction. However, the biggest payoff from this effect is rotation reset. Essentially, Ishmael can get Skill 3, Skill 2 and Skill 2 rotation again right after Changing Room, giving her a burst of damage to make up for 2 turns of doing nothing.
Pulsation - Unique Charge, will be referred to as Charge throughout this review.
Her Passives are as follows:
Built-in ones: explains the whole Changing Room and Full Makeover shenanigans and is your typical “gain Charge potency when spending Charge count.
Her sin-based passive (1/1/2 Wrath/Lust/Envy owned)grants 2 Clash power when her Charge Count is less than 10 and amplifies her healing On Hit when in Full Makeover mode, which barely makes up for the HP consumed on Skill 2 and 3 usage.
Now for her skills:
Skill 1 - Ahh… You Can't Hear It, Can You? - 2 Coins - Min Roll 11 - Max Roll 11 (Clash 15) - Very bad skill that you won’t use ideally unless you’re aiming for the Charge and Bleed count.
Skill 2 - Indeed, the Silence of the Voice Did Not Signify Its Absence! - 2 Coins - Min Roll - 16 - Max Roll 22 - Essentially, Multicrack Faust skill 2. This skill consumes A TON of HP until you get the Full Makeover status, with the benefit of healing and reuse in said state. This skill does all right status infliction, fine damage and 1 Lust Fragility next turn can be useful, but that is all great about this skill.
Skill 3 - Scrape It Out, Rip It Off, and Nail It Down! - 3 Coins - Min Roll 14 - Max Roll 29 - Basically, a Skill 2 that traded Lust Fragility for higher damage, more HP consumption, and slightly higher healing. IF you ramp Ishmael up, then damage is quite good, but before that, it is not that impressive. Provided she lives long enough.
Defensive Skill - Of Course… There was Meaning to this World After All - Clashable Counter - 2 Coins - Min Roll 14 - Max Roll 16 - The only use of that defensive skill is to force Ishmael to kill herself to force her entry into Changing Room status and basically replace Skill 1 when in Full Makeover, while also healing her even more if she is in the Full Makeover state.
Defensive Skill - As the Voice Says, I Gladly Withdraw into Myself - Clashable Guard - Roll 14 - Changing Room exclusive skill, which was explained at the beginning. She is constantly gaining and eating her own Charge to speed up her ramp-up. There is not much to it, except turning Ishmael into a piñata.
Now that we see Haute Couture::Boutique du Rouge Ishmael kit in full light, we can see it is not a well-thought-out mishmash of things that just exist. She wants to consume her first HP bar as fast as possible, while also trying to do multiple other things, resulting in a fairly mid payoff. Unimpressive is the “Temu Bloodfiend” clothing she is wearing.
Charge - She can synergize with it by lessening her HP consumption and gaining “some” damage buff that synergizes with her, but she does not need it as her HP bar can be converted into Charge.
Bleed - She can work here, but Kurokumo Ish’s Bleed activation and synergy with Kurokumo Heath are usually better in most scenarios.
Wingbeat - Can somewhat alleviate her HP loss per turn, provided you can afford the Gluttony resource.
Alright damage and ramp-up (compared to other Charge Identities).
Can cheat her rotation with Full Makeover.
Cheats her own Charge gimmick with HP.
Is trying to kill herself constantly, with basically no means of healing lost HP back.
Does nothing for 2 turns…
… and the payoff afterwards is very RNG-dependent and mediocre.
