Review
Lobotomy EGO: Hornet Meursault, who will be referred to as Hornet Meursault for the rest of this review, is a Damage Dealer ID from the 7th Walpurgisnacht who primarily specializes in Burn, with a few slivers of Bleed Infliction just for flavor.
Starting with his unique effect, which he has plenty of:
Spore is a status that gives Burn Count for every 3 stacks, with a maximum of 3 Burn Count on turn end and 1 Bind next turn. This status does not decay on turn end.
Spore Round [Base] inflicts 2 Spore when spent, while Spore Round [Buckshot] inflicts 3 Spore when spent. His entire mechanic revolves around these two types of Unique Ammo.
Loyalty Pheromone is a buff that stacks up to 3 times, with each stack giving one status of Protection, Haste, Clash Power Up, respectively.
Hornet Meursault has two passives, which do the following:
The first passive is always active, lets him start with 10 Spore Round [Base] and 6 Spore Round [Buckshot] and allows him to inflict Spore through consumption of Ammo. If he does not have Spore Round [Buckshot], he will spend 2 SP and 2 Spore Round [Base]. If he doesn’t have any kind of Spore Round, however, he will spend SP and perform a reload. If the target with Spore is killed, he gains 1 stack of Loyalty Pheromones.
The second passive requiring 3 Wrath Owned inflicts double Spore next turn and refunds some Spore Rounds on kill against the target with Spore.
With all of this covered, let’s go over his Skills:
Skill 1 - "Warning Shot" - 2 Coins - 12 Min Roll - 16 Max Roll (17 Clash) - A standard breaking Skill 1 as far as most Skill 1’s go. This skill will inflict a total of 4 Spore, as well as an additional Pierce Fragility if Meursault has the maximum amount of Spore Rounds before using this skill.
Skill 2 - "E.G.O Alteration - Buckshot" - 3 Coins - 16 Min Roll - 19 Max Roll (21 Clash) - A Decent Skill 2 with two Attack Weight, although this skill does -50% damage against sub-targets, making this skill pretty good for spreading around Spore to multiple targets. This skill would also inflict a total of 9 Spores per target.
Skill 3 - "Field Test - Dusk Spark" - 4 Coins - 16 Min Roll - 28 Max Roll (30 Clash) - Very high damaging S3 with AoE Capabilities, having 2 natural Attack Weight and can get 1 more if Meursault has 3 Loyalty Pheromones. Although this AoE potential works more like an unfocused volley rather than an actual true AoE. This skill can deal an additional +50% damage for every excess Attack Weight beyond the number of actual targets, for an additional bonus +100% damage overall against solo targets. This skill also has a special effect on the 4th Coin, where, although the Coin damages all targets, it’ll only deal -50% damage against sub-targets. However, in return for that, if the target’s Spore is at max Stack, it’ll deal the target’s (Burn Potency * Spore Stack / 10) Wrath damage, and all Spores on the target will expire. This “burn nuke” is capped at 148 total Wrath Damage.
Defensive Skill - Spore Germination - Evade - 1 Coin - 14 Min Roll - Max Roll 17 - This evade causes Meursault to Reload, and when Meursault evades, he can restore up to 25 HP. This activates once per turn.
Overall, Meursault’s damage skills go up higher and higher as more Spores get inflicted onto the target. However, in terms of being good for a Burn team, Hornet Meursault is not quite that significant at all. The “burn nuke” from Meursault’s S3, which is the overall damage nuke you’re building up towards when using this ID, gets completely outclassed by an ID such as Thumb Meursault, who has significantly more damage ramp-up and power than Hornet Meursault.
While this ID certainly isn’t bad for a Walpurgisnacht ID, Hornet Meursault leaves way too much to be desired to have a stable spot in a Burn Team, especially when being compared to Thumb Meursault, who is a current staple inside of a Burn Team.
Good and consistent Damage
Spore helps out with Burn Count infliction
Almost no worthwhile utility whatsoever
Burn Count infliction is really easy to do without Spore
Extremely castrated kit design with the capped Burn Nuke and extremely limited AoE
