Review

Index Faust is a Poise Sinking identity whose gimmick is to follow “Prescript” and in turn, follow a set gameplay pattern to ramp up “Grace of the Prescript” status and get stronger the longer the fight goes on. While it could have been done interestingly, in practice, it is mostly inconsequential on top of her Sinking, being an addition one should not focus on.

Starting with her unique effects, which she has 5 that are automatically given or inflicted at turn start, from her 2 built-in passives.

  • “Prescript” status is what this ID is built around; essentially is a secondary objective with various requirements based on the amount of “Grace of the Prescript” status, ranging from hitting a marked enemy or using a marked skill to hitting with an E.G.O or marked Skill 3.

  • “The Prescript’s Target” is essentially just 1 Fragile that is applied to a random enemy at turn start. It also interacts with the rest of her kit

  • “Mark of the Prescript” is just a flower mark on the skill dashboard used for the prescript status

  • “Grace of the Prescript” is the reward for accomplishing the side objective given by the “Prescript” status, gaining 1 after accomplishing a Prescript and 3 if the target had “The Prescript’s Target” status. She will receive a small and sad reward of 3 Offense Level Up for playing around this status. Other than that, this status interacts with the rest of her kit

  • “Karmic Consequence” is the consequence of deviating from the Prescript status, which is just an ignorable amount of 1 Defense Level Down for every 10 stacks and 1 Fragile for every 20 stacks.

As an additional passive, Faust gets up to 20% damage bonus for her marked skills and with more Grace, she gains more Poise and inflicts more Sinking Potency.

Next, let's look at her skills:

  • Skill 1 - Unerringly, As the Prescript Demands - Min Roll 11 - Max Roll 15 (16 in Clash) - Damage-wise, it is an alright skill 1 with negative Poise Count gain.

  • Skill 2 - Undertake the Prescript, Again Undertake - Min Roll 16 - Max Roll 22 (23 in Clash) - As average Skill 2 as it could get. Can provide 2 Sinking Count when Crit lands on the last Coin, but that is the only interesting thing this skill does.

  • Skill 3 - As the Prescript Demands, You will be Eliminated. - Min Roll 17 - Max Roll 23 (24 in Clash) - If this skill lands Criticals on every Coin, it will do above average and be Sinking Count neutral, otherwise it is an underwhelming Skill 3. At 6+ “Grace of the Prescript”, its ability to have all unbreakable Coins on combat bonus is a meaningless bonus, and the main gain is the 30% damage bonus.

  • Defensive Skill - Counter - Prescript-granted, Prescript-woven Fabric - Min Roll 12 - Max Roll 15 - Probably the most unique skill of Index Faust. 3 Coin Counter that also provides decent damage and can output better damage than Skill 1 and even Skill 2 in certain scenarios.

As can be seen, both “Grace of the Prescript” and “Karmic Consequence”, and the overall gimmick of following “Prescript” are unfortunately watered down to an inconsequential level. Aside from that, she does not inflict any Count in the majority of the cases, so she is always negative on top of her Poise economy being awful. The only thing carrying this ID is her season 7 kit, which makes her slightly more powerful compared to the others, hence the rating.

E.G.O. Synergy:
  • Thoracalgia - “Fixes” Index Faust Poise economy, making her a bit more consistent

Pros & Cons
Pros

  • Great damage potential.

Cons

  • Inconsistent Poise and Sinking.

  • Meaningless self buffs and debuffs.

  • Minimal payoff from a greedy gimmick.
