Character Progression

Guides

Upgrading characters in this game is fairly straightforward, and there are aspects to it that make it less grindy than some other competitors.

Upgrading your Characters

The maximum character level is 80.

Character Leveling & Ascension

Characters gain levels up to certain breakpoints and must ascend at levels 20 / 40 / 50 / 60 / 70 / 80 using materials obtained from progression content.

Ascension materials come from:

  • Ability Upgrades Domain (40 Pixel per run).
  • Anomaly Pilgrimage (60 Pixel per run – weekly boss materials).
  • Anomaly Hunt (60 Pixel per run – story and overworld bosses).

Leveling Materials

  • To level up your character, you will use: Hunter Guides (which comes in varying tiers)
  • Each tier provides significantly more experience than the previous one.
  • These are farmed through general progression or directly from the EXP & Beetle Coins Domain in the Exploration Guide (40 Pixel per run). Higher-level runs in this domain drop more Elite Hunter Guides for more efficient leveling.

Hunter Level: Your character level is tied to your Hunter Level (account level), you can’t level a character higher than your Hunter Level allows.

Awakening System

Guides

Characters use a duplicate system called the Awakening System. Unlike many other games, NTE allows you to choose the order in which you unlock abilities. So they won’t have the best abilities locked behind the final copy. You can also toggle effects on or off and swap them whenever you like. Full progression requires up to six copies of a character.

Resonances are passive effects or direct stat buffs that activate when you reach specific Awakening milestones, typically at 3 copies and 6 copies. These provide additional power spikes as you progress a character’s duplicates.

Arcs

Guides
  • Arcs are the weapons in the game. They are equipped on characters to boost stats and provide additional effects in combat.
  • There are five Arc types: Solid, Liquid, Gas, Plasma, and Synthesis. Each character can only equip Arcs that match their allowed type.
  • Arcs provide base stats, sub-stats, and unique effects depending on the specific Arc.
  • You can obtain Arcs from multiple sources, including drops from Anomaly bosses, the in-game shop, or through the gacha system using the Tri Key currency (Which you exchange for in the Warp Exchange).
Arc Leveling & Ascension
  • Arcs level up similarly to characters.
  • They hit level caps at 20 / 40 / 50 / 60 / 70 / 80.
  • You need Beetle Coins for leveling, which are farmed from the Exploration Guide EXP & Beetle Coins Domain (40 Pixel per run). Higher-level runs in this domain drop more efficient materials.
  • To ascend Arcs, you use materials from the Exploration Guide Arc Ascension Domain (40 Pixel per run), similar to character ascension.

Consoles

Guides

Consoles are another type of equipment in the game. Like Arcs, they provide stat boosts, but they work a bit differently and can also grant additional bonuses when used as part of a set.

Consoles are divided into two main parts:

  • Cartridges: These determine the set effect. Similar to artifact sets in other games, they provide larger bonuses when equipping multiple pieces from the same set (such as 2-piece or 4-piece effects).
  • Modules: These are the main stat pieces. Each Module provides one main attribute and up to four sub attributes. They function as the primary way to customize and fine-tune your character’s stats.

Much like Arcs, you farm the materials to level them and obtain new ones through the Exploration Guide Console Domain (40 Pixel per run).

You can also: Clear the Rabbit Hole Domain (Southern New Herland District) for Carrota Tokens and then go to the Console tab (Exploration Guide) or any character’s Console page → Rewind to pull random Modules or Cartridges

Higher Hunter Levels (40+) unlock rarer Legendary Modules.
