I Shall Walk, Exist, and Know

A Prophecy Told:

[Array] effect: Allied characters gain DMG Bonus +20%. When a Reality DMG character attacks, gain additional DMG Bonus +20%.

Shape of Bones:

Reality DEF -15%. When attacked, take an additional (the user's ATK x30%) Genesis DMG.

Array:

Battlefield effect. Continuously affects characters on the field (only one type of array can exist at a time, whether on the allied or enemy side).

Review

Getian is a Reality Support of the Beast Afflatus. He's the first character to make use of the Array mechanic, a field effect that buffs all allies.

Getian's gameplay focuses on his Ultimate “I Shall Walk, Exist, and Know”. It places the Array “A Prophecy Told” in the field for three rounds, granting +20% DMG to all allies or +40% if the ally is Reality type, while inflicting the debuff “Shape of Bones” to all enemies on the field for as long as it remains. Due to this, Getian is best paired with a Reality DMG carry. One of his biggest strengths is the fact that an Array is a persistent field effect rather than a typical buff as we've seen so far, and thus can be stacked with other +DMG Buffs. Furthermore, since there can only be one Array in the field at a time, Getian's Ultimate can be used to cancel enemy bosses' Arrays.

Most of Getian's damage comes from his attack “Admonition”, a Mass Attack targeting all enemies debuffed with “Shape of Bones” cast freely at the end of the round for as long as he has Eureka. Due to this design decision, Getian's skill “Old Bones” doesn't have high multipliers. A simple rundown of his playstyle can be summarized as: Cast Ultimate, merge and move cards to gain moxie and stay ready to renew the Array.

Between Getian's Ultimate and Insight 3 passive, it is very easy to keep the “Shape of Bones” status on all enemies. Please note that any new enemy that enters battle will need to have this debuff applied to them, necessitating another cast of his Ultimate or by using “Old Bones”. Unlike Jiu Niangzi, Getian's [Channel] state doesn't get canceled when he acts, only stopping when he runs out of Eureka, so he can always cast “Unique Bearing” to help keep his Eureka values high.

In conclusion, Getian has a relatively simple and passive gameplay that revolves around managing his resources. He's very effective at what he does — passively dealing damage while augmenting the performance of his Reality damage allies.

Pros & Cons

Pros

Powerful buffs and debuffs that turn him into the best friend of any Reality carry.
Since his buffs come from his Array, you can stack them with DMG bonus buffs from other characters.
Passive playstyle, he won't need much AP to keep his Array and debuffs going.

Cons

Limited Team Composition options for 3-P content at P0. You need P2 to access his potential in full. Without P2, he tends to work better in 4-P content.
Managing his resources and uptime can be a bit clunky if in a team with more than one AP-Greedy character.
Limited to Reality teams. He's not a universal support like 6, Isolde or An-An Lee.

“Same Old Story” is Getian's Best in Slot. It's a Psychube tailored for him, with the only downside that it is too specific to Getian. If you don't want to spend on building a Psychube for only one character, his next best options are “Her Second Life” and “Blasphemer of Night”. The first can trigger its passive with Getian's Ultimate, thus helping with the team's survival. Also, Getian's Admonition scales with his ATK, so the bonus ATK from this psychube is useful. The second is a bit off the curve. Getian's “Shape of Bones” is considered a negative status, so it's relatively easy to keep this Psychube passive always triggering, depending on your team. It's a worth pick if you decide to play Getian in a more aggressive approach.
