Insight I

While in the [Arise, Qiangliang!] status, after actively casting a Qiangliang enhanced incantation, gain 1 [Justice Talon] or 1 [Peace Talon]; after actively casting an incantation from the overlap section of the Spelldock, gain 0.5 [Justice Talon] and 0.5 [Peace Talon]. When reaching 6 [Justice Talon] and or [Peace Talon] combined, consume 6 of these [Justice Talon] and or [Peace Talon] to cast a [Bane of All Evil] based of Justice Talons to Peace Talons:

  • Cast [Bane of All Evil - Justice] when there's more [Justice Talon].

  • Cast [Bane of All Evil - Peace] when there's more [Peace Talon].

  • Cast [Bane of All Evil - Balance] when there's an equal number of talons.

For every 1 [Justice Talon] or [Peace Talon] consumed, grant 1 stack of [Guardian’s Resolve] to all allies for 2 rounds.

When [Arise, Qiangliang!] ends, all [Justice Talon] and [Peace Talon] are cleared, and every stack of [Swift Resolve] on Liang Yue is converted into 3 stacks of [Guardian's Resolve].

Liang Yue is a 6✦ rarity Arcanist from the Star Afflatus whose kit is based around covering a very broad amount of bases through protecting allies and summoning Qiangliang, the Xiandao Beast.

This is also her primary gimmick. With “Call of Thunder: #0305” (Ultimate), Liang Yue activates [Arise, Qiangliang!] for 3 rounds while providing [Immunity] and DMG Taken Reduction through [Guardian’s Resolve] for all allies.

While [Arise, Qiangliang!] is active, your hand is augmented to do the following things:

  • At the start of the round, your leftmost 3 Incantations will gain a green aura. Casting Incantations with a green aura will grant [Arise, Qiangliang!] a [Peace Talon]. In addition, any (de)buffs with a duration applied by these cards gain +1 duration.

  • At the start of the round, your rightmost 3 Incantations will gain a red aura. Casting Incantations with a red aura will grant [Arise, Qiangliang!] a [Justice Talon]. In addition, these incantations get +1 rank.

  • By casting cards, the two areas slowly overlap. Incantations cast from the overlap between green and red zones grant [Arise, Qiangliang!] half a [Peace Talon] and half a [Justice Talon]. In addition, they gain the benefit of both zones.

When 6 [Talon]s are gathered, Liang Yue will cast [Bane of All Evil], which is a Mass Attack that has secondary effects based on which [Talon] was gathered most and also grants [Guardian’s Resolve].

  • When there are more [Peace Talon]s, Liang Yue casts [Bane of All Evil - Peace]. This adds the effect of inflicting [Poison] and [Burn] while increasing the attack’s damage based on the amount of those on the target.

  • When there are more [Justice Talon]s, Liang Yue casts [Bane of All Evil - Justice]. The attack’s damage is increased dramatically for every [Justice Talon] consumed.

  • When the [Talon]s are equal, Liang Yue casts [Bane of All Evil - Balance]. The attack grants Liang Yue [Swift Resolve], which decreases the number of [Talon]s required for the next [Bane of All Evil] by 1.

Now that that explanation is out of the way, let’s get into Liang Yue’s own skills.

“Banish Evil” is a simple 1-target attack that extends the duration of [Guardian’s Resolve] on all allies. It also grants a [Justice Talon] if cast actively. It’s more or less an incantation that you use to get an extra [Justice Talon].

“Bless Life” is a 1-target buff that grants [Guardian's Blessing I/II/III] (based on rank) to the target for a short duration (or extends its duration if it is already applied). Casting this actively grants a [Peace Talon]. This is your bread and butter, as allies with [Guardian's Blessing] getting hit (or attacking) triggers a “Banish Evil” follow-up attack of the corresponding rank from Liang Yue. In addition, it grants the target +25% DMG Dealt and +25% DMG Reduction.

Gameplay:

In two years we’ll be reading 300 page manuals in order to pilot our characters; Liang Yue is the descent into madness that all gacha games eventually face and we will never be free of the reading issue.

That aside, Liang Yue is pretty wild.

She has an absolutely insane array of different effects, from various sources of DMG Reduction to [Immunity] to DMG Dealt buffs to rank-up to Follow-Up Attacks to [Poison] and [Burn]. This is all then limited by a few things, namely that Liang Yue is extremely AP-negative (a bad thing for a character not intended to be a main carry). In addition, at P0 you will struggle to upkeep [Arise, Qiangliang!], causing a ‘gap’ in duration for your augmented hand.

There’s several things that are effective here though. You will mostly be spamming “Bless Life” to upkeep [Guardian's Blessing] for her FUAs and other buffs. This greatly benefits AP-positive teammates that function around FUAs such as 37 and Flutterpage. In addition, the sheer variety of her effects lets her slot alongside characters like Lopera, Mercuria and Tuesday(-Willow).

So while she definitely has her problems, the versatility of her as someone who can output decent amounts of damage while providing so many different things help her stay high priority for those missing certain effects or for newer players to take advantage of.

Pros & Cons
Pros

  • Very powerful defensive support with [Immunity], [Guardian’s Resolve] and [Guardian's Blessing].

  • Can provide a great variety of offensive benefits such as [Poison], [Burn], Rank-Up, +DMG Dealt.

  • The only unit in the game capable of extending (de)buff effects through [Arise, Qiangliang!] which greatly enhances certain powerful effects such as [Continuous Action I], [Pinpointed], or [Shell Beacon].

  • Decent personal damage output through [Bane of All Evil] and consistent “Banish Evil” follow-ups with [Guardian's Blessing].

Cons

  • Extremely AP-negative which creates difficulty in her job as Sub Carry.

  • At P0 she struggles to upkeep [Arise, Qiangliang!] which is a great deal of her overall power and supportive capability.

Genuinity slightly out-damages Aspirational (Critical DMG/ATK) in this case. This build leans more heavily on ATK than Crit DMG.

Comments

Liang Yue's signature "Ready on Call" grants her a significant amount of Crit Rate and Crit DMG for casting her skills.

Both of Liang Yue's skills are 1-target, making it pretty easy for her to trigger "Stray Off the Path." Although her Ultimate and FUA are mass attacks, the Crit DMG buff is only removed after the attack. The damage from this psychube is actually higher than that from her signature during shorter rotations.

"Blasphemer of Night" is decent for Liang Yue with the right teammates. While she can apply her own [Neg Statuses], it's only through her FUA.

"Long Night Talk" is also a decent alternative for a buffer build, though she needs the right teammates to get two [Pos Statuses] at once.
