Should You Pull? (TLDR)
Name Day is not a must pull, and as a 5-star, it's difficult for him to compete with the higher rarity. However, Name Day does bring a number of unique and useful buffs for Ultimate-focused teams. He's capable of consistently buffing Ultimate DMG, Ultimate Might and DMG Dealt. His own Ultimate is also capable of making his ally's Ultimate not cost AP for a few turns, particularly useful for characters who cast their Ultimate for more than one turn in a row.
Review
Name Day is a character focused on supporting carries who rely on their ultimates to deal most of their damage.
His mechanics revolve around focusing most of his help on the adjacent ally in front of him, making his placement in the team an integral part of his gameplay. Whenever Name Day takes action, the ally in front gains stacks of [Ceremonious] (increases Ultimate Might). Furthermore, his Ultimate, “Etched in Snow” grants a unique buff [Enname] to the adjacent ally in front, allowing them to cast ultimates with no AP cost, lasting for a few rounds (2 or 3 depending on the Portray level of Name Day).
While supporting a specific team mate is the most relevant part of his kit, Name Day isn't limited to that. “Etched in Snow” also buffs all allies’ Ultimate DMG, and his buff “As You Wish” affects all allies as well, in this case granting them DMG Dealt and DMG Heal. The latter adds an extra layer of depth to his gameplay, making his team slightly sturdier and enabling him as a support option to HP Loss and Bloodtithe teams.
Finally, Name Day's source of damage relies on his Incantation “Circular Maneuvers”, a mass attack which can dispel [Counter] from enemies if cast at rank 2 or above. Its multipliers aren't impressive, and considering that this is Name Day’s only way to deal damage, it's advised to give him a survival build instead, as he won't be nearly as useful as a sub-DPS.
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Many tools to enhance Ultimate power;
- Has a unique buff that makes Ultimates cost no AP;
- Can dispel [Counter] from more than one enemy at once.
Cons
- Most buffs are limited to one ally;
- Slightly limited in use, being only useful with certain Ultimate-focused carries, and even so he has plenty of competition of higher rarity for the same spot.
Portrays
P2 is his best cost-benefit Portray, followed by P3. After that, P5 allows for a more comfortable use of his Ultimate.
Great Synergies
Name Day has great synergy with any carry whose main source of damage comes from ultimates. His most notable partner is Recoleta, but he can also be used alongside Hissabeth, Noire, Melania, Spathodea, Shamane, Windsong, Lilya and others.

Standard Teams
Haven't I Seen this Name Before?[GLB]
TEAM EXPLANATION
- 4th slot options: Fatutu
- A variation of Recoleta’s classical team, for those who don't have one of her more ‘premium’ support options or who simply prefer to use Name Day. This team is very simple and straightforward for those who are already used to Recoleta, just remember to use Name Day's buff and ultimate before her actions.
Cosmic Overture Squad[GLB]
TEAM EXPLANATION
- 4th slot options: Kiperina
- Voyager is Euphoria Version
- Patch 2.7 highlighted characters. While not a fully optimized team, they have decent synergy working together. Hissabeth can fill her own ultimate fairly quickly, with it being also her main source of damage. It can be further enhanced by Name Day's buffs, while the Voyager + Kiperina combo bring extra utility and damage through Impromptu incantations, turning this team into a versatile choice against enemies of primal afflatus.
Cheap Words[GLB]
