Introduction
This guide is to help new players understand the game from the basics and explain mechanics beyond the game's tutorial. While Trickcal falls more on the side of a casual game, it is quite easy to brick your account long-term if some systems aren't properly used due to how long it takes to level up and acquire some of those resources.
It is worth noting that the in-game tutorials explain the battle mechanics, such as the Personality Type effectiveness chart, Passive Bonuses for units with the same Personalities and/or Race, etc, well enough that it isn't too difficult to understand from it.
This guide will serve as a brief introduction to many topics with their in-depth guides linked if present.
Rerolling
The main targets to reroll are Eldain/Eternal Life Apostles (Including
Yomi) to learn the optimal Rerolling process and how gacha works in general, check out our dedicated guides:
Progression and Stamina
Progression in this game is quite straightforward, as it mainly entails pushing the Story mode until you can't. The Story features its own normal Stamina named
Candy. Story stages also unlock various Gears and there isn't much to think about the same.
Star Candy is the main currency used for farming the five Dungeon game modes. We will have a dedicated guide going over these different dungeons, but to summarize, as a new player you should be farming the Skill Materials Dungeon until you can max out the skills of your main Apostles to Level 7.
Character Leveling and Stars
Character Levels are based on your account and each dupe can increase a character's maximum level which results in extra stats. You need to use
Apostle Certificate for this, which you can get from the gacha or in the shop using mileage. By default, an apostles level cap is 75 and they get increased level cap for reaching 3★, 4★, and 5★.
- 3★ gets +5 to level cap (base 3★ Apostles get this inherently)
- 4★ gets +15 to level cap
- 5★ gets +25 to level cap
This level cap is activated instantly, for example: if your account level is 25 (meaning your current global level cap is also 25) your 3★ Apostles can be leveled up to lvl30, 4★ Apostles to lvl40 and so on.
Obtaining Gear and Upgrading
Each Apostle has six gear slots and each slot accepts a specific piece of equipment that provides stats. When you equip all six necessary pieces, you can "Rank up" your gear page, which will consume all equipped gear and change the required pieces to higher-tier ones, and provide a significant stat boost.
Gear is primarily obtained from Story stages, with each stage giving you a couple of specific gear drops. While the lower-rank gear drops from Story stages directly, the higher-rank gear requires recipes, which would need multiple specific drops to craft.
Each piece will tell you which stage drops the required materials and you can complete them directly from the gear screen. Once you obtain or craft a piece of gear, you can equip it for a small Gold cost.
Equipped gear can be upgraded up to +5 using Gear Upgrade Material, unneeded gear pieces, and some
Gold. However it is not recommended to upgrade your gear before hitting Rank 6. It is important to keep in mind that when you rank up you will lose the stats from both the gear pieces and their upgrade levels, which means it's possible to become temporarily weaker if you rank up but can't immediately upgrade the new gear.

Team Building
There's not much nuance to team building in Trickcal; the majority of the time, you will be using your Eldain Apostles as the core of your team, then adding regular apostles to enable personality and race buffs. Some stages will be weak to specific personalities, so you'll just adjust for that stage if that's the case. Here are all the personality and race buffs you can enable:
Personality Bonuses
All personalities give the same bonus to your team:
| Characters | HP and Damage Bonus |
|---|---|
| 2 | +6% |
| 4 | +28% |
| 6 | +66% |
| 7 | +91% |
| 8 | +120% |
| 9 | +153% |
Race Bonuses
Each race has a unique bonus they give.
Dragon: Reduces incoming Crit Rate and Crit Damage.
Sprite: Buffs your team's Skill Damage.
Witch: Increases the Crit Rate and Crit Damage of your team.
Elf: Increases the Attack Speed of your team.
Werebeast: Increases the Basic Attack Damage of your team.
Phantom: Reduces your team's Damage Taken by a percentage.
Elemental: Boosts your team's SP and HP recovery rate.
Mystic: Fielding at least one
Mystic unit will provide a 2% Attack and Magical Attack boost, this effect doesn't go beyond 1
Mystic unit.
Race Bonus Tables
Check each race below for detailed stat breakdowns by number of characters:
| Characters | Incoming CRIT Rate Reduction | Incoming CRIT DMG Reduction |
|---|---|---|
| 2 | 3% | 6% |
| 3 | 4.5% | 9% |
| 4 | 6% | 12% |
| 5 | 7.5% | 15% |
| 6 | 9% | 18% |
Character Boards and Pastels
This is something you only worry about upon reaching Level 9 on your account, as it is not worth grinding Pastels until you're able to farm
Ultra Pastel. You can also obtain Pastels in events and shops as well.
Character Boards are extremely important once you're able to access
Ultra Pastel as you can unlock some special nodes that apply buffs to all characters on your account, making them extremely important to your progression and the reason why you shouldn't grind Pastels until you can farm
Ultra Pastel.
