Review
Nerion is an A-level Graveborn Marksman who has unique mechanics that allow him to completely delete enemy backline heroes under the right conditions. His kit revolves around a debuff called Drowning which, when properly set up, can make him a powerhouse in PvP. Unfortunately, if the enemy team comp doesn’t allow for the setup, or if Nerion is in a defensive team, he essentially becomes a very underwhelming unit.
Nerion’s kit revolves around a passive in his Ultimate, Drowning Doom. When an enemy has been under control effects for 6s (or 4s on enemies that deal Magic Damage), Nerion will deal additional damage to them and inflict Drowning on them. He inflicts even more additional damage to Drowning enemies. Both sources of bonus damage last until the end of the battle. The active portion of his Ultimate gives him a 12s ATK and ATK SPD buff and gives his normal attacks an effect called Deluge, which makes them bounce between any Drowning enemies.
At Mythic+, Nerion gains Abyssal Embrace, which causes him to instantly apply drowning to the rearmost enemy when the battle starts. Additionally, this adds an ATK and Haste reduction effect to Drowning enemies and makes them take Damage over Time while under control effects. At +10, he gains a shield (that takes less damage from Magic Attacks) whenever he applies the Drowning debuff to enemies.
Finally, at Supreme+, when all non-summoned enemies in the battle are affected by Drowning, or at least 4 non-summoned enemies have been affected by Drowning, Nerion gains a one-time boost of energy and a permanent Penetration buff while having over 800 energy.
In addition to all the Drowning related parts of his kit, Nerion also has the following:
Tidal Rebuke: A skill that enhances every third Normal Attack, making the attack Knockback the target and Stun them for 2s.
Riptide Wrath: A skill that throws a spear at the location with the most enemies, then causes an eruption at the location 2s later that knocks enemies into the air and deals damage to them.
ATK SPD from his Hero Focus.
Legendary+: Increases his ATK SPD in combat.
Mythic+ (EX Weapon): Nerion applies Drowning to the rearmost enemy when the battle starts, reduces Drowning enemy ATK by 20% and Haste by 40, and causes Drowning enemy to take damage over time when under control effects.
EX+5: Increases the damage over time Drowning enemies take by 10%.
EX+10: When applying the Drowning effect, Nerion gains a shield that takes less damage from magic attacks.
EX+15: Increases the damage over time Drowning enemies take by 10%.
Supreme+: When all non-summoned enemies in the battle are affected by Drowning, or at least 4 non-summoned enemies have been affected by Drowning, Nerion gains a one-time boost of energy and a permanent Penetration buff while over 800 energy.
Refine 2: In Rivalry Mode, Nerion gains 2 ATK SPD and 1% Normal Attack damage when he Normal Attacks, stacking up to 10 times.
Refine 4: In Rivalry mode, Nerion gains 20 ATK SPD and 8 DEF Penetration.
AFK Stages: Nerion may find niche use in battles where he can set up his Drowning effect properly and it is needed to defeat a tough rearmost enemy. This is a very niche usage, though and in general, he is not a good investment for this content.
Dream Realm: Nerion does not see use here.
PvP: In offensive PvP teams with the right setup against the right enemy teams, Nerion can literally delete rearmost enemies (especially Magic Damage Dealers) before the beetle even starts. This can make him incredibly impactful as a tech choice in specific PvP matchups. On defensive teams, he is easily countered by adjustments to positioning and not nearly as useful. This makes him a good investment for PvP-minded players who want to have a powerful tech option, but not a must-have for PvE players or PvP players with limited resources, as he needs at least Mythic+ to make an impact.
Nerion is an interesting tech option for only the most hardcore of PvP players who want to have a variety of options on offensive teams and who understand character kits well enough to know when he can work and when he can’t. Outside of that, he is not worth the investment for average or PvE-focused players who will be better off focusing on heroes that can be more broadly applied to the meta of various game modes.
Can literally delete a member of the enemy team when the battle starts, which can sometimes make matches unwinnable for the opponent.
The crazy PvP stuff he can do requires at least Mythic+ and he is a niche/tech option, not an all-rounder that makes a good investment for the average player.
Easily countered when placed on a defensive PvP team.
Limited use outside of PvP.
Enemies that gain Unaffected buffs completely counter him.
