How to Fish
Fishing Spot
Locate a Fishing Spot. Upon approaching, hit your interactive key (F by default on PC). Once you have found and interacted with a Fishing Spot, you will be welcomed with the pre-casting stance.

As you may have learned from the brief tutorial in the “Invitation from the Fishing Guild” quest. This menu is where you can select the type of Fishing Pole (M default on PC), type of Bait (N default on PC), and your Research Effect (B default on PC).
Before you can cast, you must have both a Fishing Pole and Bait selected; otherwise, you cannot fish. Once these have been selected and slotted in, you are now ready to fish!

Pre-casting stance & Menu
Cast your line out (LMB by default on PC) so that the Bobber floats on the surface of the water ahead of you.

Bobber and Line Tension Bar
Once your bobber has successfully hooked onto a Fish, Marine Creature, or Ocean Trash, you are notified with a visual exclamation point [ ! ]. From there, you either instantly catch the hooked Fish or Trash (lower catch rarity), or you will enter a fighting phase (higher catch rarity) with the hooked fish.
The difficulty of the fighting phase depends on how rare the fish is (more on this later).
Once you enter the fighting phase, hold the reel-in button (LMB by default on PC). While holding the reel-in button, you will notice your Line Tension bar and Tension % increasing.
If your line's tension bar remains full for too long, your line snaps, causing the fish to escape.

Fishing Zones
There are three zones: 1 (left), 2 (center), and 3 (right).

Align your Fishing Pole with the fish's zone position as it struggles to break free from your grasp. You do this by holding A (to align your Fishing Pole to the left, toward zone 1) or holding D (to align your Fishing Pole to the right, toward zone 3).
You will notice that if your Fishing Pole is not correctly aligned with respect to the hooked fish’s zone, the Fish Icon on your Progress Bar will begin to stagnate or return further away from the Angler Icon on the far left of the Progress Bar.
The fish in the picture displaying the zones is moving towards zone 3, so you would hold D (aligning your Fishing Pole towards zone 3).
When your Fishing Pole matches the current zone of the fish, continue reeling (holding LMB by default on PC). Doing so “fills” the Progress Bar, where the Fish icon will gradually move left toward the Angler icon.
Progress Bar

Once the Fish icon has arrived at the Angler icon, congratulations! You have successfully caught a Fish or… Trash (more on this later).

Fishing Menu
The Fishing Menu is your go-to “fishipedia”. This menu is where you access your Fishing Archive (1), Fishing Research (2), Fishing Store (3), and your Fishing Profile (4). Currently, the Fishing Menu, unlike CBT, does not provide a Fishing Leaderboard in the current version of Blue Protocol: Star Resonance.

To locate the Fishing Menu, open your General Menu (Esc by default on PC) and locate “Fishing”. Alternatively, you can interact with a Fishing Spot, and you can open the Fishing Menu (V by default on PC) post-interaction, even when you are fishing!
Fishing Archive
The Fishing Archive serves as a fishing bestiary, automatically updating as you catch new species or trash.
Every entry tracks useful details, new species, including the largest size you’ve caught, its star rating, size range, and rarity.

Fish are categorized by their habitat as follows:
City Harbor Fish – Found in Asterleeds:

Freshwater Fish – Found in Asteria Plains (inland spots away from the sea):

Seawater Fish – Found in Asteria Plains (coastal spots beyond the mainland):

Fishing Research
Research allows you to “study” the Fish you’ve caught throughout your adventures.
Each Fish has its own Research Level, and every level grants an additional Special Effect.
Special Effects and Sub-effects are both present when researching the Fish, below Level 5. Once Level 5 is obtained on the Fish, they will both combine into just Special Effect.

Leveling up a Fish’s Research is straightforward — simply donate additional fish of the same type by clicking “Research” to increase its level. Each fish can be researched up to Level 5.

Note that researching fish does not grant extra EXP while fishing, nor does it affect your Fishing Pole’s durability. The amount of EXP you earn remains constant and depends solely on the rarity of what you catch—be it trash, fish, or marine creatures (more on this later).
Fishing Store

The Fishing Store is where you can purchase all the Bait and Fishing Poles you have unlocked. It’s accessed via the third tab on the Fishing Menu.
Fishing Profile
The Fishing Profile allows you to track how much Trash, Fish, and Marine Creatures have been caught during your time invested in fishing. You can also track how many Mythical Fish you have caught!
When catching a Mythical Fish, it adds to both totals of “Total Catch” and “Mythical Fishes”.
The profile also displays your Most Caught Fish and your Favourite Fishing Spot!
You can share this profile with anyone whom you choose (located via the Share Icon at the bottom right corner of your profile, in front of the green sellotape)

The “Fishes” section of the Fishing Profile is meant to say “Total Archived Fish Species”. Meaning this is the number of Fish Species you have caught and tracked in your Fishing Archive. If new species are introduced into the game and you catch them, this total will increase.
- The total number of archived fish in Blue Protocol: Star Resonance’s current version is 11.
- We are unsure if the Legendary Whale will count towards this log label or have its own unique log label in the Fishing Profile.
- The “Marine Creatures” section of the Fishing Profile is meant to say “Total Archived Trash”. Meaning this is the number of Trash you have caught and tracked in your Fishing Archive. If new Trash is introduced into the game, and you catch it, this total will increase.
- The total number of archived Trash in Blue Protocol: Star Resonance’s current version is 16.
- To our knowledge, actual Marine Creatures are not logged in your Fishing Profile. We await this to be fixed by the developers of the game.
How to Catch 5 Starred Fish

Catching a 5-starred fish is theoretically possible with any kind of fishing equipment, even with Level 0 Research Effect. However, the probability is extremely low without researching your desired 5-starred fish.
Catching 50 5-star fish will award you a x1

As you continue to research your desired fish, your chances will increase per level. At level 5 (the maximum research level), your desired fish will have the highest chance of being caught as a 5-star. Just keep fishing~
How to Catch Mythical Fish

A Mythical Fish is the fourth fish in your Fishing Archive for City Harbour & Freshwater, and the third fish for Sea Water (as Sea Water only has three fish to be caught and archived).

Most of the achievements you’ll obtain simply by being a curious and dedicated fisherman.
New Fishing Locations added to Blue Protocol: Star Resonance may also bring new achievements.
Efficient Fishing Levelling
At the current state of Blue Protocol: Star Resonance, there are no ways of influencing or enhancing fishing experience points. There is a constant experience point value dependent on rarity and where they are positioned on the Fishing Archive.

The Legendary Whale and Hidden Quest
Legendary Whale

Not much is known about the Legendary Whale other than that the only way it is obtained is where you would think: the deep ocean.
Legendary Whale Clue #1

Sandy, located at the Asterleeds Beach Pier, mentions that there will be a “Boat Race” which references that the expedition mentioned in the Fishing Archive could be a Boat Race.
Legendary Whale Clue #2

Another clue points towards us sailing out to “catching fish you’d never see in shallow waters”, perhaps foreshadowing an expedition such as a “Boat Race” that takes us out, and we all fish for the Legendary Whale and perhaps new species we have yet to discover.
Legendary Whale Clue #3
Of course, it’s all speculation now; however, Sandy is the only NPC that has revealed this information. Let’s all look forward to that expedition!
