Introduction

Team Building in Neverness to Everness is pretty straightforward and is based on a few different factors. Players will want to have their teams structured with a few things in mind: the character’s combat role, their attribute, and how it pairs with other characters, and if their gear has any specific conditions.

Combat Role

The combat roles are separated into three sections: Damage, Buff, and Survival. To best build a team that is relatively easy and safe to play, players will want to aim for the following:

  • 1 or 2 Damage: The main damage dealer(s).
  • 1 or 2 Buff: 1 Buff to increase the team’s attack, or 2 for a hyper-carry style of team.
  • 0 or 1 Survival: A healer or shielder to help keep your team alive. This slot is optional in all game modes because it is possible to play this game without taking any damage.

Esper Types

NTE also classifies Espers into a variety of Types that we can consider when building teams and their archetypes. Some of them we can use as clues to pair individuals together and others we utilize to only have one of them on the team.

  • Damaging Types:
    • Main DPS
    • DoT
    • Damage
    • Follow-up Attack
    • Burst DPS
  • Utility Types:
    • Break Boost
    • Instant Cycle
    • Buff
    • Control
    • DMG Boost
  • Sustain Types:
    • Shield
    • DMG Redirection
    • Healing
    • Survival

While these tags don’t prevent you from running the same two with each other, it is advisable not to overlap them unless the scenario calls for it. An example of this is using multiple DoT characters with Sakiri, who buffs DoT; or using multiple Control characters in a situation where you’re fighting a lot of non-boss enemies.

Attributes & Esper Cycles

When creating a team, structuring it in such a way that Esper Cycles are possible will generally provide a better team than not. This means using team members with adjacent attributes on the Cycle wheel.

For example, a team where you want to proc Discord to Break bosses quickly might look something like this:

Gear

There are a few pieces of gear in the game that have buffing effects, but they do not stack with eachother. This is important to consider when team building so that players do not waste any potential damage buffs. Here’s the relevant gear:

  • Arc:
    • Good Boy's Grand Adventure
    • The Great Thief
  • Cartridge:
    • Speedy Hedgehog
