Carolina is a S-Rank Graveborn Mage specializing in dealing high damage against enemies affected by Crowd Control. She excels at applying Crowd Control herself while reducing enemy Magic Defense, making her often paired alongside characters who deal Magic damage and inflict Crowd Control.

Her Ultimate, Frozen Grave, deals damage and freezes the target for 8 seconds, rendering them unable to act. It also creates a field that applies Frostbite to nearby enemies—reducing their Haste and stacking up to 3 times.

Her first skill, Freezing Nova, deals damage to a primary target and adjacent enemies, inflicting Frostbite in the process.

Her second skill, Snowball Witchery, summons 4 snowballs that strike enemies under Crowd Control with a short delay between each hit. Once all snowballs are used, Carolina automatically recasts the skill. At Mythic+, each recast permanently increases snowball damage, stacking up to 7 times. After the third cast, the snowballs gain AoE properties, damaging enemies in adjacent tiles and reducing their Magic defense. At Supreme+, the snowballs also inflict Frostbite.

Now, for a quick overview of her performance in the various game modes:

  • Story and AFK stages - While Carolina is no longer a top pick, she remains a very viable option for clearing AFK Stages, especially when paired with heroes like Eironn, Arden, and Bonnie. However, Eironn and Bonnie have recently found greater use in other team comps, leaving Carolina behind.

  • Dream Realm - Carolina pretty much does nothing in this mode as her primary damage relies on dealing damage to enemies under Crowd Control — something that isn’t possible in this game mode.

  • PVP - In PVP Carolina used to be one of the main companions to Eironn, but with the release of new and more powerful DPS, and the decline of Eironn teams in the regular arena, she has fallen out of use. That said, Carolina is still a perfectly viable choice to pair up with Eironn in the Supreme arena, on par with Arden, but trading higher Single Target damage for less AOE damage.

Conclusion

Carolina may see a resurgence in AFK Stages early in the season, and then her usage typically tapers off over time. Still, she’s a strong investment — her kit is powerful and versatile, even if not applicable in every scenario.

We recommend investing in Carolina up to at least Mythic+, as this unlocks the Passive that boosts her snowball damage with each recast. Upgrading her EX Weapon to +5 enables her to automatically launch a snowball at a Crowd-Controlled enemy whenever she hits them with a normal attack. At +10, this upgrades her Magic Defense Reduction by a good amount. At Supreme+ is mainly worth for the stat boost, but it also adds consistent Frostbite application to her snowballs.

Pros & Cons
Pros

  • Great damage if the enemy is under Crowd Control.

  • Crowd Control.

  • Haste Reduction.

  • Magic Defense Reduction.

Cons

  • Immediately useless if she cannot Crowd Control the enemy.

  • Mostly only used in Eironn teams.

  • Hard to justify new players investing into her after over a year of DPS power creep.

EX Investment

Since the

Temporal Essence
Temporal Essence
and
Twilight Essence
Twilight Essence
are very hard to obtain, you have to be really careful with the using them to upgrade the EX weapon. And in this guide we ordered all characters by the priority when it comes to how much they need investment in their EX weapon to work well and where should you stop to get the best bang for your buck.

Color explanation:

  • +X - where every character starts,
  • +X - the next step that you should do when investing into that character - for some characters this will be enough,
  • +X - the final step you should do when investing into that character - you can go beyond that later though once you have the Essences to spare.
