Review
Shadewing is an A-level Graveborn Rogue who curses every enemy on the field with his lasting DoT effects. Similar to the spread of Bonnie’s Aging, Shadewing’s Curse Damage scales with additional DoT inflicted by his allies.
At the start of battle, Shadewing flies over the enemy team for 5s and marks them with “Withering Curse.” The curse lowers all enemies’ Phys and Magic DEF, and converts any DoT damage they receive (from all sources) into Curse value. While flying over the field, he is Invincible. Once the Withering Curse value reaches a cap (either 20% of the enemy's max HP or 4000% of Shadewing's initial ATK), the curse detonates, dealing damage based on the enemy's max HP. This can trigger once every 3s. At EX+10, 85% of the detonation damage is converted to True Damage.
His Ultimate, Crimson Venom, applies DoT that scales with the enemy's lost HP. His first skill, Razor Talons, deals damage and also applies DoT. At Mythic+, he unlocks Curse Feast, at which every Withering Curse detonation will make Shadewing gain energy and a permanent damage boost. When an enemy affected by Crimson Venom is defeated, he also gains Energy based on the remaining duration of the DoT. At Supreme+, he targets an ally in front of him and will drain a part of their HP to gain an ATK boost, Life Drain, and a shield based on the amount drained from the ally.
Story and AFK stages – Shadewing has potential for pushing high-deficit stages, as his DoT effects can affect multiple enemies at the same time while also providing utility from his Phys and Magic DEF shred.
Dream Realm – His performance is pretty average, as there aren’t a lot of DoT units that he can synergize with. Even if you slot him in the team, you will be losing overall damage from the lack of utility other than Phys and Magic DEF shred.
PVP – If you can build a team that supports Shadewing’s initial survival, his Phys & Magic DEF shred, along with the application of his curse onto all enemy heroes, can be a great source of DoT for the current stall meta. While he is slow to ramp up and at times easy to burst down, his curse value will continue applying damage in the event of his defeat. Due to his ability to spread DoT damage and debuffs, he can be utilized in place of someone like Cyran on a Bonnie/Satrana stall team, which is a great way to free up Cyran for alternative setups that you might not usually be able to employ in your Supreme Arena. He also has impressive synergy with units that deal continuous damage, such as Zanie, whose turrets help Shadewing’s curse reach its detonation value faster.
Shadewing is a character who mostly shines on AFK Stages, having the potential to dethrone other DPS or Support options like Faramor or Velara through his DoT effects. He has excellent synergy with Saida, whose Drain Seeds activate Shadewing’s curse DoT at very high speeds.
If he ever becomes the meta choice, you can start by investing him in Mythic+, which unlocks his potential to spam his Ultimate and spread more curse damage, while Supreme+ or Paragons will be necessary for him to compete in PvP for the extra stats.
Great synergy with the current meta DoT/stall units like Bonnie, Satrana and Saida.
Has sources of True Damage in his kit.
His curse DoT continues even in the event of his early defeat.
Can be squishy and lacks shielding/cheat death mechanics to withstand the current burst meta.
Curse damage may take too long to ramp up in high-speed speed high high-intensity PvP settings.
Not viable for a slot in the highly competitive DR meta.
