Review
Valen is an A-level Warrior from the Lightbearer faction. He is this game's embodiment of an Achilles' heel. Great DPS performance but doesn't have the survivability capability to output it consistently making you drop him the moment you get into midgame onwards.
His ult 'Thundering Swordwork' has amazing scaling, range, and the invulnerability he gets while doing it. He also gains 'Invigoration' for a good amount of time which increases his ATK and amplifies his other skills.
Unlocking Valen's Exclusive Equipment makes 'Invigoration' permanent and also gives him +10% ATK every time he uses 'Thundering Swordwork' which sounds good on paper but unlike 'Seth' he cannot reliably stack this without dying, one of the main reasons why he isn't being used. 'Unseen Blade' is a decent damaging skill for one enemy that can chain lightning to the nearest 2 enemies if Valen has 'Invigoration' active.
Reaching lvl 3 of his Exclusive Equipments fires lightning strikes whenever he uses normal attacks which is good. 'Fury Thunder Strike' is also another skill that is only usable when Valen has 'Invigoration' active which has good damage and range but lacks utility until reaching Supreme+ which gives it a stun to damaged enemies. 'Hero Focus' of ATK is welcome for a DPS.
And now you might be asking "Good so far, why is he bad?" and that's because he is a melee hero that doesn't have ways to stay alive in the frontline. He has great damage output and potentially good utility as well but if he is dead before he does any of those it doesn't matter.

Temporal Essence

Twilight Essence
are very hard to obtain, you have to be really careful with the using them to upgrade the EX weapon. And in this guide we ordered all characters by the priority when it comes to how much they need investment in their EX weapon to work well and where should you stop to get the best bang for your buck.
Why does the +8 breakpoint appear so often?
Because the raw stats you get from upgrading the EX weapon help you more than the passive in some cases. Also, to upgrade the EX from +5 to +8 you need only 30x
