Primal Lord System

Guides

Primal Lord is a boss killing event where together with everyone on your server you aim to kill the Raid Boss who spawns on the world map. The less time it takes for the Raid Boss to die, the bigger rewards everyone on the server will receive.

Here are the rules that govern the event:

  • You can challenge the Primal Lord 3 times a day,
  • After each challenge, you will instantly obtain personal rewards based on the total damage dealt to the Primal Lord. Those rewards include

Alpha Bear

Alpha Bear is one of the two available Primal Lord bosses you will encounter in AFK Journey. In this guide we will go over the boss mechanics and the best characters and teams to use against him.

Boss Mechanics

Skills
  • Ultimate - Summons a swarm that deals 80% damage per second to each enemy covered in honey for 3s. When all enemy heroes are marked with honey, a mega swarm is summoned, dealing 250% damage per second till the end of the battle.
  • Skill 1 - Throws honey at an enemy hero, marking them until the end of the battle and dealing 100% damage. The healing received by the marked enemy is reduced by 80% and cannot be dispelled.
  • Skill 2 - Throws honey at enemies in adjacent tiles, dealing 50% damage and marking them. Smashes the ground when there are no enemies in adjacent tiles, dealing 400% damage to all enemies.
  • Skill 3 - Makes and pulls a Terraball towards the enemy, dealing 100% damage to all enemies in its path.
Tips and tricks
  • Use a single character with 1 Range, who will 'tank' the boss. That's because of the Skill 2 as you want prevent the Bear from using his massive AoE - so you always need someone 'hugging' the boss,
  • Avoid using damage dealers with the Range of 1 as they will have issues surviving close to the boss,
  • Because the boss can reduce the healing received by an ally, characters that provide Shields help a lot,
  • Consider using damage dealers who can keep themselves alive and provide additional utility to the team.

Best Characters

Supports / Healers

If you're a F2P player you will most likely want to run 2 Support as the constant honey DoT hurts a lot and you want to survive for as long as possible. For spenders, who have their characters ascended quite high, just Smokey should be enough to keep the team alive.

Damage dealers

Use whoever you have most ascended from DPS here, but if the character also has the ability to keep themselves alive, it will help them a lot.

Debuffers

Sample Teams (F2P)

As we mentioned earlier, F2P or early game players will need 2 healers to keep the team alive. Here are the roles you want to cover:

  • x2 Supports
  • x1 Debuffer
  • x1 Tank
  • x2 DPS

Sample Teams (Spenders)

Team #1

The best spender teams pre level 300. Huge thanks to Zeeebo who came up with it! Suprisingly,

Koko is used as a tank in the team, teleported to the frontline by
Reinier
Reinier
and she actually can keep tanking really well and help the team with buffs and shields.

Team #2

This team will only work for uber-whales who already are past 300 level when it comes to their characters. For everyone else, using the Team #1 will work better as Smokey isn't enough to keep the team alive.

Team #3

This team will only work for uber-whales who already are past 300 level when it comes to their characters. For everyone else, using the Team #1 will work better as Smokey isn't enough to keep the team alive.

This is the exact same team as the previous one, but once the boss falls below 50%, replacing Marilee with

Vala allows you to push the damage even further.
