Devastating Axe

Kruger launches a mighty slash to knock down an enemy for 1.5s, dealing 450% damage and inflicting them with 3 stacks of Shatter Armor. Each stack reduces the target's Phys DEF by 10%, up to 4 stacks on a target

Unlocks at level 51: If Kruger is present, the ally inflicts enemies with an extra stack of Shatter Armor when reducing their Phys DEF.

Unlocks at level 111: Increases damage to 465%.

Unlocks at level 171: Increases damage to 480%.

Kruger launches a powerful attack to the adjacent enemies who are not Vulnerable with Shatter Armor lower than 4 stacks, dealing 400% damage and inflicting Vulnerable. For Vulnerable enemies, their physical damage taken is increased by 40%, and 40% of their damage taken is transformed to Kruger's HP.

When a battle starts, Kruger gains a shield that blocks damage equal to 40% of his HP for 15s if no allies are present within the surrounding 1 tile. The shield also grants him control immunity. Additionally, Kruger gains 30 Life Drain when no allies are detected within the surrounding tile.

Unlocks at Ex. Weapon +5: Increases the shield value to 44%.

Unlocks at Ex. Weapon +10: Removes the distance limit for the Vital Strike (the other restrictions remain). Kruger can rush to Vulnerable enemies and cast Vital Strike to deal damage.

Unlocks at Ex. Weapon +15: Increases the shield value to 48%.

Review

Kruger is an A-Level Support from the Mauler faction. He is a Physical Defense debuffer mainly used in Dream Realm and nowhere else. Even though niche, he is the best at his job (aside from Mythic+ Reinier - will get to that).

When talking about Kruger, it's all about the debuffs that he is providing to make your physical heroes deal more damage. Starting from his ult, 'Devasting Axe'; Kruger dunks on the enemy and knocks them down for a little bit and gives them 3 stacks of the debuff 'Shatter Armor' which will reduce their Physical Defense by 10% on every stack and caps at 4 stacks. One thing to note here is that on lvl 2 of 'Devastating Axe', it will add another stack of Shatter Armor if an ally reduces physical defense on enemies which is good in paper but Kruger itself doesn't have any problems reaching 4 stacks on an enemy and he isn't good against multiple enemies cause they either die too fast or Kruger itself dies too fast.

And there's his first Attack Skill 'Smashing Assault'; which Kruger slashes an enemy every few seconds and applies a stack of 'Shatter Armor'. Most of the time in Dream Realm, you will get 2 chances to use this skill before using 'Devastating Axe' which is kinda overkill but it reaches 4 stacks of 'Shatter Armor' easily.

And then his other Attack Skill 'Vital Strike', this might be confusing for the grammar ingame but what it basically does is "If the enemy has 4 stacks of 'Shatter Armor', Kruger will use this skill to deal a lot of damage and inflict 'Vulnerable'" which the enemy takes 40% more physical damage from your allies and if Kruger does damage to said 'Vulnerable' enemy, he will heal 40% of the damage. Kruger will not do Vital Strike again on the same target if they have 'Vulnerable' already.

As for the rest of his kit, it's mostly just for more tankiness. I recommend only getting 1 Kruger early if you're new just to have him for Dream Realm bosses then if you want to make him tanky then put him at least Mythic+ cause Supreme+ passive will rarely see any use. The reason why you might replace/switch Kruger with a Mythic+ Reinier is that he can make Odie damage better cause his damage-taken debuff is usable by both physical and magic damage.

  • Useless on any other gamemode aside from Dream Realm.

are very hard to obtain, you have to be really careful with the using them to upgrade the EX weapon. And in this guide we ordered all characters by the priority when it comes to how much they need investment in their EX weapon to work well and where should you stop to get the best bang for your buck.

Why does the +8 breakpoint appear so often?

Because the raw stats you get from upgrading the EX weapon help you more than the passive in some cases. Also, to upgrade the EX from +5 to +8 you need only 30x

Color explanation:

  • +0 - the base investment for the character,
