Primal Lord System
Primal Lord is a boss killing event where together with everyone on your server you aim to kill the Raid Boss who spawns on the world map. The less time it takes for the Raid Boss to die, the bigger rewards everyone on the server will receive.
Here are the rules that govern the event:
- You can challenge the Primal Lord 3 times a day,
- After each challenge, you will instantly obtain personal rewards based on the total damage dealt to the Primal Lord. Those rewards include Essence,Gold,Experience and chests with equipment,
- Players will be ranked based on the total damage dealt to the Primal Lord during the event:
- The top 20 players will receive a special title - Wolfslayer and top 200 players will receive a unique border + and various amounts of Twilight Essence
- After killing the Primal Boss, an Eternal Inscription will spawn where it died. There, the names of the top 20 players who dealt the most damage will be recorded,
- The server rewards include: Diamonds,Invite Letter, A-Level Soulstones and chests with equipment.
Lone Gaze
Lone Gaze is one of the two available Primal Lord bosses you will encounter in AFK Journey. In this guide we will go over the boss mechanics and the best characters and teams to use against him.
Boss Mechanics
04.04.2024 update - compared to the PTR, the damage of the boss has been lowered, so you no longer need to run 3 healers and 2 in a lot of cases is enough (spenders will be able to just use 1 healer). We have updated the suggestions below to reflect that.
After the damage nerfs, Lone Gaze isn't that different from the Dream Realm bosses and only as a new player you will have to add one additional layer of 'security' in the form of a second healer/support compared to the Dream Realm setups you're used to.
Skills
- Ultimate - Every 10, 40 and 70 seconds a mist will descend on the battlefield. It will shroud the Wolf King, allowing him to summon wolf packs to attack mist-covered enemies. The Wolf King has a chance to dodge attacks within the mist,
- Skill 1 - Charges towards the farthest target and strikes. Summons spectral wolves to attack the farthest target when the mist exists.
- Skill 2 - Deals damage twice to the targets within a 1-tile arc. Then deals damage to the enemies within 1 tile and inflicts an interruption effect.
- Passive - Gains stats boost when defeating a non-summoned enemy.
Tips and tricks
- Use 1-2 healers. While the boss damage was nerfed compared to his PTR version, he still deals a lot of damage, and especially F2P players should use 2 healers to keep the team alive for the whole duration of the battle,
- Consider using damage dealers who can keep themselves alive and provide additional utility to the team.
Best Characters
In a lot of cases, the characters that you have most dupes of will be able to survive longer and deal more damage. So while below we will give a lot of suggestions about who works best on this boss, sometimes just using your most ascended characters will work better for you - like for example if you invested into Cecia, she potentially will do the most damage for you. So keep this in mind.
Supports / Healers
If you're a F2P player, even with the nerf you will most likely want to run 2 Supports still as it is important to avoid letting the boss gain buff stacks from killing team members. These supports can be pretty much everyone but Fay and Niru. For spenders, who have their characters ascended quite high, just Smokey should be enough to keep the alive.
- Obviously, Smokey & Meerky are the backbone of every team for this boss - they will be able to keep your team alive with heals and support them with buffs,
- The character that shines here the brightest for F2P players is Koko as she can reduce the damage the whole team takes, by staggering it which will allow the whole team to survive longer and deal more damage.
Damage dealers
Use whoever can deal the most damage here, but if the character also has mobility and the ability to keep themselves alive, it will help them a lot.
- Odie andMarilee - both are great ranged DPS who shine in Dream Realm due to their massive single target damage output. Still, considering that Smokey and Koko will be pretty popular, Odie will be the primary choice as he will allow you to activate the Mauler faction bonus,
- Shakir - has great damage, is mobile and his aura can also reduce the damage taken by nearby allies (and buff them). On top of that he can keep himself alive thanks to the Drain,
- Vala - has great damage and mobility - she will shine especially well once the boss HP falls below 50% as then she will always stay in her sword mode,
- Korin - has good damage (at Mythic+), is mobile and can help the team with his shields,
- Seth - has good damage, is mobile and can keep himself alive really well.
Debuffers
- Reinier when ascended to Mythic+ will be in team of those who have him, but only spenders will be able to afford that at the current stage of the game,
- Everyone else can use the good, old Kruger orThoran who will also double up as the frontline (and with the nerfed boss damage, survive there without issues while buffing the team's damage).
Sample Teams (F2P)

As we mentioned earlier, F2P or early game players will still need 2 healers to keep the team alive.
