Summer Merry aims to make a splash with her extremely powerful Ultimate. Her Ultimate, Devastating Spike, deals massive damage to all enemies and deals TRIPLE damage to Fire type Enemies. Her Active skill <Steady, Steady> increases her Critical Hit Rate and Critical Damage for a period of time. Her Passive 1 increases her Critical Damage and Ultimate Final Damage, and her Passive 2 grants her Ignore Damage Reduction while reducing the cooldown on her ultimate if she scores a kill (5 second cooldown).
A large portion of Summer Merry’s power budget is granted to her Ultimate, dealing upwards of 4,000% AOE Damage (at T5) to Fire enemies. This allows Summer Merry to clear waves with impunity, especially paired with a massive Cooldown Reduction on her Passive each time she scores a kill. This also gives her very strong backloaded damage which is very easy to stack debuffs and buffs around and keeps raids relatively safer because you have lower incoming damage to contend with. Summer Merry will likely be a shoe-in for Fire Heavy maps and the Cowqueen Daily raid (assuming she gets past the hit count immunity mechanic) for some time to come. She also does have potential against bosses which spawn adds, such as the Kraken boss.
Summer Merry does need some manual use to maximise her kit - using her Ultimate while her Active skill and Passive are on cooldown will set back her potential damage output by a lot. She also lacks a strong damaging Active Skill and her Normal Attacks have long wind up, which affects her sustained damage output. Her powerful Passive 2 will still proc even while her Ultimate is off cooldown, making it hard to utilise. These factors, paired with the fact that her Ultimate is only triple damage against Fire enemies, make her just average/ below average in the DPS department on neutral element maps.
Summer Merry’s card, Fiery Gaze, is a very strong but selfish Magic DPS card that works really well for her since her DPS output is heavily tied to her Ultimate. It is a good pick up for other Wizard DPSes, but other Magic DPS cards like Merlin and Vivien cards do offer party utility over sheer numbers. Best used for funneling hard into strong Magic DPS, especially since it offers Critical Damage over Critical Hit rate to further push up potential Damage ceilings. Good, but not a priority over the other cards.
Insanely backloaded Ultimate against Fire enemies.
Impressive wave clear if she can score kills.
Lots of free Critical Hit Rate and Critical Damage buffs.
Really brings that summer splash to your Lobby screen.
Lack of a damaging Active skill.
Passive 2 is clunky to utilise - can still proc even if Ultimate is off cooldown.
Very slow Basic Attack.
Ultimate is only above average against neutral element enemies
