PSA: Treasures are called Favorite Items in Nikke now. However, they were known as Treasures before Shift Up decided to change the naming scheme. We use both of the terms Treasure and Favourite Item in our guides, but they are the same thing, so do not get confused!

Can you give a brief summary about her?

Bay is probably the weirdest Favorite Item in Nikke yet. She barely gains anything from her Treasure kit. Yet, on her Favourite Item release, her new skills broke the damage system (it is fixed now though). Still, with her new spicy bunny skin incoming, I guess a little review won’t hurt since these are all still welcome changes and ultimately an improvement to Bay’s position in the meta in PvP at least.

The best tank in Nikke now has the ability to heal allies as well now, and that too quite substantially, outperforming notable healers such as Rapunzel since Bay heals 4 allies instead of 3. The problem here is that Bay will not heal herself constantly.

Instead, an odd singular change to add to her Skill 2 makes it so that she only has specific instances of burst healing for herself that trigger when her cover is destroyed, which can ultimately only happen 2 times (unless she is paired alongside Biscuit).

Regardless, the missing piece which Bay had was healing, since she already tanked the team’s damage by directing it to her cover. Now, she is able to act in a more complete manner. The lack of offensive buffs still means that her impact in the overall meta remains wholly unchanged, but her PvP performance should improve.

Where can I expect her to be used?

Bay’s usage does not change at all. This is straight up just a very minor buff to what she already was good at: Tanking and allowing the team to survive for longer. This is notably amazing for PvP, but not good for PvE, which is biased towards buffs provided to the main DPS of the team.

Should I get her Treasure?

For the majority of the Nikke playerbase, our suggestion is a flat out NO. Bay will still not be used in any PvE format as a meta unit.

However, for players who consider themselves PvP Arena enthusiasts, we do suggest getting Bay’s favourite item. You really just need Phase 1, since the other 2 phases are basically a joke. Hence, for PvP players, it is a YES, go get your Bay to SR15, if you haven’t done that already that is.

Kit Analysis

Phase 1: Changes Skill 1

The Upgrade: Bay now heals all allies (excluding herself) with a decent amount of healing on every fully charged shot. This heal is on par with Rapunzel but affects more allies (a maximum of 4 compared to 3 of Rapunzel) so you can definitely run her as an off burst healer.

The problem with BayTr is that Rapunzel’s healing does not need an SR15 doll if you need a non-burst healer (for example), but BayTr will take a huge amount of effort and time to acquire her. When the time comes where you’re finally able to get Bay’s treasure, you probably won’t need Bay as an off burst healer anymore, at which point she will purely be a PvP unit.

This change does benefit your PvP teams however. Bay is often used on sustain compositions anyways, and she further improves these teams thanks to her newfound healing.

Phase 2: Changes Skill 2

The Upgrade: Upon filling the burst generation bar (i.e. reaching B1 stage), if Bay’s cover is broken, she will self-heal by providing herself with a huge Max HP buff.

If you were worried that Skill 1 does not heal Bay, this skill can calm some of your worries (but not really). A very mediocre upgrade all things considered since this skill will almost never activate in a relevant scenario.

Even in PVP, most teams won’t make it till the next burst rotation, so you probably won’t be able to make use of this change. But on the rare chance that you do make it to the next burst’s stage 1, it should perhaps help Bay tank a bit more damage (if she is still alive).

Phase 3: Changes Burst skill

The Upgrade: On her Burst, Bay will rebuild her cover (if it is broken). This effect can only trigger 1 time per battle.

This effect is like Biscuit’s burst, except Biscuit does this for 2 Nikkes, and there’s no limit. In practical cases, this skill is probably leaning toward PVP, where by some “accidents”, Bay’s cover will be broken before she can burst, thus reducing her niche damage protector a lot. Still a very niche change and probably won’t bring much to the table. Nothing game changing at all.

Tier List and Performance

We find BayTr’s additional skills to have little to no impact at all to her performance. There are certain situations and matchups where she performs slightly better thanks to her new healing ability, but it isn’t enough to justify giving BayTr one tier up in rating in any format, even in PvP. Hence, Bay’s ratings will remain the same as her normal version. You can find some detail on how BayTr may be expected to perform in Bay’s normal version’s review.

Investments

Gear Investments

As a Defender, gear and OL are not really important to her (because eventually, all gears will contribute too little compared to stat gain per level, and OL %Def sucks). You can OL her for some CP padding if you like..

  • Essential: -

  • Ideal: 4× Charge Speed

  • Passable: 4× ATK, 4× Elemental Damage, 4× DEF

  • Priority: Low (PvP)

Skill Investments

We do not recommend splurging on Bay’s skills at all. Just having the bare minimal 4/4/4 should do fine for her.

Cube Investments

Since Bay is a Defender with damage share effect, the only cube for her will be Vigor - which increases her Max HP, allowing her to soak even more damage.

Doll Investments

BayTr needs SR 15 for Treasure. You have no choice.

Review
Pros

  • Basically the same Nikke but can heal now.

  • Can rebuild her own cover now (once per battle but still).

  • Still one of the best lobby wallpapers in Nikke! Even her Treasure lobby screen is hot!

  • Her skin will push Nikke’s rating to 16+... probably..?

Cons

  • A huge resource sink (SR15 doll) to barely gain anything. The Return on Investment is terrible.

  • Her niche is in PVP - and even in PVP there are many ways to play around not having her treasure..

  • At least give more than one liner changes to treasures Shift Up..

Investment Tips

Skill Investment

Here's the explanation for all the numbers and colors used in the guide:

  • 10/5/7 means upgrading Skill 1 to lvl 10, Skill 2 to lvl 5, and Burst Skill to lvl 7,
  • Yellow means the immediate investment when u get the unit. There are 3 reasons for this:
    • If the unit is Meta or High Priority, it will have a starting investment of more than 1/1/1 (such as 4/4/4) depending on what the unit provides.
    • If the unit is Medium or Low Priority, 1/1/1 will be mentioned, meaning no immediate investment is required, and you can invest in this character if you need to use it according to the priority listed.
    • If we deem that a unit does not have usable skills to be meta for any gamemode, no investment will be mentioned.
  • Blue means minimum investment to take advantage of the Nikke's skills. There are 2 reasons for this:
    • Sometimes, minimum investments are breakpoints such as for Noir or SAnis.
    • Sometimes, minimum investments are just the ideal way to progress to upgrade that unit, before moving on to Recommended and High.
  • Red means recommended investment for F2P players,
  • Purple means maximum recommended investment, in order to get the best out of the unit. You should only try to reach these investments if you have a surplus of Skill Books leftover.

More info:

  • The skill investment list below features a lot of Level 4 and 7 because they are easier to understand. Any higher levels will cost a new type of resource.
  • However, you may choose to upgrade to Level 5 if you need a stronger effect instead of 4, as the increase in Blue Manual cost from Level 4 to 5 is still low. The leap only starts from Level 6 onward.
  • There is also a leap from Level 3 to 4, so if you want to save a tiny bit of Blue Manuals, then leave at 3 instead of 4.
Gear Investment

This Overload (OL) Recommendations and Priority guide unravels in detail everything you need about a character in terms of priority, overload targets (effects), and order of acquisition, alongside some notes to explain our thinking process.

For OL targets and order of acquisition, we decided to divide the target effects into several categories.

  • Essential: With all gear combined, your unit must have the roll(s) prescribed as a minimum requirement. Example: Charge Speed on Alice. You cannot compromise on these rolls.
  • Ideal: These rolls will improve your unit's performance significantly. Aim for 2 lines of Essential/Ideal per gear for maximum performance and the best Return on Investment (ROI). If you get 3, you are lucky. You can choose to only have 1 as well to save materials. Example: Elemental Damage on Scarlet.
  • Passable: Low-priority line that has either limited value or the impact is not as strong as other rolls. Should this show up as a bonus together with a better line, you can choose to keep them. Example: Charge Speed on Red Hood.

Overload effects are ordered by importance from Left to Right, which means anything on the left provides more value than the right. Effects that belong to the same group generate too similar an impact to make a difference (and are sometimes interchangeable). Try to follow this order as faithfully as possible for maximum mileage.

Additional tips:

  • Priority (PvE/PvP) isn't necessarily lower than Priority (Universal), which has no tag/label. It just indicates that this unit performs only in select types of content.
  • If a suggested effect has the number ×2 next to it, that means you should get the effect on at least 2 gear. The same idea applies to other numbers.
  • Focus on obtaining Essential(s) then you can start worrying about optimizing your rolls. Units require these to function, and the impact is too massive to ignore.
  • If a unit has no Essential(s), that means their performance is not that dependent on OL, but they can still benefit from good effects.
  • Remember that this is just a recommendation list, and attaining perfection is impossible. You will have to make some compromise, pick whichever rolls you desire the most, and conserve as much material as possible.
