Review

This student has been hard at work. Zwei declares her major as a Pierce Damage buffer, drastically improving her ability to buff any Pierce DPS. Crit Rate and Pierce Damage▲ galore. Let’s dive right into a quick summary, shall we?

Can you give a brief summary about this unit?

Be it consistent pierce DPS (e.g. Red Hood or Milk: Blooming Bunny), or be it nuke-type pierce DPS (e.g. Snow White or Maxwell), Zwei now comes to the battlefield with her bag packed with up to ~85% more Pierce Damage▲. If it isn’t clear, Zwei is now the best Pierce Damage buffer in-game, as of her release, beating out even the likes of MirandaTr in some situations. ZweiTr is here to make a statement!

As a cherry on top, she now also provides up to an immense 63.63% Crit Rate buff! This is especially synergistic with, you guessed it, Snow White, who has an internal crit rate buff that can allow for a confirmed crit-hit. This is also notably impressive for a unit like Bunny Milk, who has so many other high-value internal buffs, that Crit buffs are one of the better options to provide to her.

However, Zwei’s weakness is clear. Her professional ability is but a niche. Without pierce being relevant, she is likely to not see any use at all, which is often the case in all elements but Iron-Weak. Furthermore, she lacks a Burst 2 with whom she can effectively synergise with. While Grave might be a good unit to pair her with, both of them provide the same type of buff with high values, which dilutes the effectiveness of their buffs. The same problem exists with Mari or Bunny Ade.

Should I get her Favorite Item?

The answer to this depends on your priorities, and also on how far deep into the game you are. ZweiTr, for all intents and purposes, is a late-game unit who specialises in raid gameplay. Both Solo Raids and Union Raids will find use for her, given the right element and/or situation. With that said, it is easy to conclude that Zwei is a lower priority Favorite Item compared to the likes of Moran, Privaty, or Helm.

Therefore, the answer to your question is Yes, but only if you are aiming to improve your Raid rankings. ZweiTr will be in consideration for multiple raids, depending on the boss type and situation. For Iron-weak Raids (and possibly Fire-Weak and Water-weak as well), if the boss favours Pierce-DPS, it is highly probable that ZweiTr is the BiS for a team in these situations.

To conclude, when you do eventually get her Treasure, Zwei peaks after Phase 3, so we recommend maxing out her favourite Item as soon as possible if you want to use her effectively. Without Phase 3, Zwei does not perform at a higher level than her original kit.

Kit Analysis

Normal Zwei’s kit made her a pierce DPS buffer. Continuing tradition, ZweiTr focuses on improving the pierce buffs that she provides. Also similar to her original kit is that she remains a better buffer for units that may shoot 1 (or 2) round(s) of high value charge damage (e.g. Snow White, Maxwell or Snow White: Heavy Arms), but is still highly effective for units requiring persistent Pierce buffs (e.g. Red Hood and Bunny Milk).

Phase 1 - Burst Skill

■ Affects self.

Changes the weapon in use:

Charge Time: 1.2 sec

■ Affects all allies.

Pierce Attacks 101: Pierce Damage ▲ 25.03% for 10 sec.

As soon as Zwei receives her Favorite Item, there are two changes to her burst skill. The first of these is a very slight improvement in charge time of her weapon. This is not a big improvement by any standards, but it does help Zwei reach maximum stacks of her new Phase 2 and Phase 3 skills if you still plan to fully charge Zwei’s nuke.

The other change to her skills is that her Pierce Damage buff now has the name “Pierce Attacks 101”. This name is referenced in her Phase 2 skill to stack up her new and improved value Crit Rate buffs, meaning that Zwei needs to burst to stack her Crit Rate buff.

Phase 2 - Skill 2

■ Activates when performing a normal attack while in Pierce Attacks 101 status. Affects all allies.

Critical Rate ▲ 15% for 5 sec, stacks up to 3 time(s).

A very simple improvement to what her skill 2 already provided: More Crit Rate buffs! This skill allows the total crit rate provided by Zwei alone to stack up to a maximum of 63.63%, totalling the base crit rate (for units like Snow White, SW: Heavy Arms, or Maxwell) up to a very high 78.63%! While it is possible to cover up the remaining chances up to a 100% (i.e. max crit rate) just through overload gear lines, it is impractical to do so, since it requires very high value lines for (technically) little benefit. It is much more effective to use this skill with units like Snow White, who already possess innate Crit Rate, or with units like Bunny Milk, who scale their damage with Crit buffs since they are already stacked to the brim with other buffs!

Phase 3 - Skill 1

■ Activates when performing a normal attack during Full Burst. Affects all allies.

Pierce Damage ▲ 24.99%, stacks up to 3 Time(s), for 1 round(s).

The last piece of the puzzle is the most important one. During full burst (i.e. whether or not Zwei bursts herself), ZweiTr now provides up to a 74.97% Pierce Damage buff! This value is huge! Practically doubles the output of her buffs from her old version, and is the actual buff that makes Zwei great again!

Since this value stacks and lasts for 1 round only, units like Bunny Milk and Red Hood cannot fully take advantage of it, but it constantly refreshes the 24.99% value for them throughout her burst. Nuke-type Pierce DPS like Snow White, however, are able to fully take advantage of the stacked buffs since they have to wait to fully charge their weapons, which is usually enough time to allow Zwei to shoot 3 normal shots.

Without this buff, ZweiTr does not improve as much in her overall kit. Hence, it is imperative that one gets Zwei’s Favorite Item to Phase 3.

Tier List & Usage Analysis
Campaign: A

There was a time in Campaign where units like Red Hood and Alice were the best in business for mobbing stages. Their ability to deal with multiple mobs by dealing high damage pierce shots, which could also take advantage of core hits, was an unmatched ability.

However, times have changed. ZweiTr faces tough competition as a B1 in the modern Campaign Meta, which is currently dominated by True Damage DPS. The B1 role in Campaign is ideally to provide CDR to the team, since an effective enough B2-CDR currently does not exist. Both of these facts of True Damage being better than Pierce (in almost all situations), and the strictness of the B1 role are reasons as to why Zwei is not able to break into the current meta.

However, ZweiTr is still a blessing for good Pierce DPS, and units like Red Hood are absolutely still very usable and effective campaign carries, especially in early game and lower deficit gameplay. As such, she may be used by players who have better investments in Pierce DPS, alongside an off-burst B1-CDR like Siren.

Bossing: A

Well, you know the drill by now. ZweiTr buffs Pierce DPS. Hence, she can only be as good as the DPS she buffs.

Be it Raids, Anomaly Interception, or Museum, Zwei is able to fight for her spot in multiple elements:

  • Iron-Weak: Units like Red Hood, Bunny Milk, and Snow White are staple units for Iron-Weak Bossing Content, especially in Solo Raids. They also perform highly effectively against Ultra (in both AI and Museum). She was already seen alongside Snow White in the recent Altruia Solo Raid!

  • Fire-Weak: Zwei might also be Best-in-Slot in buffing Alice against a Fire-Weak boss like Stormbringer, who also happens to be one of the new Museum bosses!

  • Water-Weak: Depending on the boss, Snow White: Heavy Arms can also take advantage of Zwei’s buffs in raids. A boss like Blacksmith in Museum, for example, could enforce a pairing of Zwei with SW: HA!

Note that we are placing her in A with a Partner tag because of her Pierce Damage niche.

PvP: B

There is no change in Zwei’s PvP performance. She still has all the same flaws: Not enough burst gen, feeds into jackal, and her buffs are not synergistic with the PvP meta DPS.

Investments
Gear Investments
  • Ideal: 4× Elemental Damage, 4× ATK

  • Filler: -

  • Priority: Low (Boss) - 3

  • Note: Zwei is a support who does not deal enough DPS to be relevant enough to hunt for overload lines. She does not provide any ATK buff or other caster’s buffs either. As such, only overload her for survivability, or if you are looking to min-max damage dealt in Raids.

Skill Investments
  • Skill 1: 10

    • This is the most important new skill for her.

    • Up to ~75% more Pierce Damage▲ buff!

    • Highest Priority skill to max out.

  • Skill 2: 7~10

    • Tons of Crit Rate▲ buffs.

    • Can leave at 7 if not planning to use Zwei with Snow White. However, you should eventually get this skill to Lv10 to maximise her effectiveness.

    • Must get this skill to 10 to minimise ‘mald’ (e.g. with Snow White teams), unless pairing her with Maid Mast.

  • Burst Skill: 7~10

    • Cute upgrade to her Pierce Damage buff.

    • Can keep at 7 if you do not want to fully commit with Pierce teams.

    • Eventually max out this skill, especially if you want to min-max damage dealt.

Cube Investments

Zwei doesn't have a particularly needed cube, however to improve team burst gen, and to prolong her shooting, she may use the resilience cube. If her damage can be somewhat relevant (thanks to her self buffs and a boss that can allow zwei to abuse pierce slightly), she may make use of the Destruction cube or Pierce cube to take advantage of the situation.

Doll Investments

A niche unit with niche usage (for now). If we get a strong Pierce Neutral DPS (as strong as Cindy/SWHA) or a Crit DMG buffer, she should see more relevance. For now, she is a less priority to build compared to MirandaTr and ToveTr, but in 2026, she should be a more future-proof invest than ExiaTr due to possibility of use outside Iron-weak. A luxury, in other words.

Review
Pros

  • Has a new very high value Pierce Damage▲ buff, which she can also provide as an off-burst flex.

  • Provides very high Crit Rate buff for all allies, which constantly refreshes.

  • Is now the best buffer for multiple Pierce DPS.

  • Her cover heal provides solid survivability for the team.

  • Her reload animation is still as satisfying as it used to be!

  • During the first Zwei review, we were begging for better Elysion units. Thank you Ingrid for improving our ability to play Elysion Tower!

Cons

  • Her Pierce Damage buff needs to be stacked, and only lasts for one shot (even though it is refreshable).

  • The stackable Pierce Damage buff does not refresh fast enough for units like Red Hood or Bunny Milk to fully take advantage of it.

  • Niche buffer - can only buff Pierce DPS.

Investment Tips

Skill Investment

Here's the explanation for all the numbers and colors used in the guide:

  • 10/5/7 means upgrading Skill 1 to lvl 10, Skill 2 to lvl 5, and Burst Skill to lvl 7,
  • Yellow means the immediate investment when u get the unit. There are 3 reasons for this:
    • If the unit is Meta or High Priority, it will have a starting investment of more than 1/1/1 (such as 4/4/4) depending on what the unit provides.
    • If the unit is Medium or Low Priority, 1/1/1 will be mentioned, meaning no immediate investment is required, and you can invest in this character if you need to use it according to the priority listed.
    • If we deem that a unit does not have usable skills to be meta for any gamemode, no investment will be mentioned.
  • Blue means minimum investment to take advantage of the Nikke's skills. There are 2 reasons for this:
    • Sometimes, minimum investments are breakpoints such as for Noir or SAnis.
    • Sometimes, minimum investments are just the ideal way to progress to upgrade that unit, before moving on to Recommended and High.
  • Red means recommended investment for F2P players,
  • Purple means maximum recommended investment, in order to get the best out of the unit. You should only try to reach these investments if you have a surplus of Skill Books leftover.

More info:

  • The skill investment list below features a lot of Level 4 and 7 because they are easier to understand. Any higher levels will cost a new type of resource.
  • However, you may choose to upgrade to Level 5 if you need a stronger effect instead of 4, as the increase in Blue Manual cost from Level 4 to 5 is still low. The leap only starts from Level 6 onward.
  • There is also a leap from Level 3 to 4, so if you want to save a tiny bit of Blue Manuals, then leave at 3 instead of 4.
Gear Investment

This Overload (OL) Recommendations and Priority guide unravels in detail everything you need about a character in terms of priority, overload targets (effects), and order of acquisition, alongside some notes to explain our thinking process.

For OL targets and order of acquisition, we decided to divide the target effects into several categories.

  • Essential: With all gear combined, your unit must have the roll(s) prescribed as a minimum requirement. Example: Charge Speed on Alice. You cannot compromise on these rolls.
  • Ideal: These rolls will improve your unit's performance significantly. Aim for 2 lines of Essential/Ideal per gear for maximum performance and the best Return on Investment (ROI). If you get 3, you are lucky. You can choose to only have 1 as well to save materials. Example: Elemental Damage on Scarlet.
  • Passable: Low-priority line that has either limited value or the impact is not as strong as other rolls. Should this show up as a bonus together with a better line, you can choose to keep them. Example: Charge Speed on Red Hood.

Overload effects are ordered by importance from Left to Right, which means anything on the left provides more value than the right. Effects that belong to the same group generate too similar an impact to make a difference (and are sometimes interchangeable). Try to follow this order as faithfully as possible for maximum mileage.

Additional tips:

  • Priority (PvE/PvP) isn't necessarily lower than Priority (Universal), which has no tag/label. It just indicates that this unit performs only in select types of content.
  • If a suggested effect has the number ×2 next to it, that means you should get the effect on at least 2 gear. The same idea applies to other numbers.
  • Focus on obtaining Essential(s) then you can start worrying about optimizing your rolls. Units require these to function, and the impact is too massive to ignore.
  • If a unit has no Essential(s), that means their performance is not that dependent on OL, but they can still benefit from good effects.
  • Remember that this is just a recommendation list, and attaining perfection is impossible. You will have to make some compromise, pick whichever rolls you desire the most, and conserve as much material as possible.

Zwei (Treasure)
Mast: Romantic Maid

Maxwell
Helm: Aquamarine
About the team

A unique bossing team for sure, but one that definitely works. The highest Zwei team in the recent Altruia Solo Raid, it makes use of Mast's ATK buff and Summer Helm's Damage taken buff. It proves to be better than using Grave or Bunny Ade. Zwei's Cover heal allows for the team to survive any incoming damage, since SW and MW both can cover without serious damage loss for the team.

About the team

We saw a unique pairing of B2s before, and now it's a unique pair of B1s!
Miranda's ATK and Crit Damage buffs paired with Zwei's Pierce Damage buffs = a combo worth trying out. While currently only Summer Helm exists as a viable B2-CDR, this team can probably be more effective in the future with a more potent B2-CDR!

About the team

Both Alice, Asuka and Grave can take advantage of Zwei's pierce damage buffs here. There is less dilution here since Zwei cannot stack her Skill 1 fast enough. Hence, pairing Grave Asuka and Alice together can prove useful, especially if it is a boss with core and pierce both being available! Such a boss already exists in Museum: Stormbringer!
