Review
Buddy Fairchild is a Plant afflatus Damage dealer who is completely free and also a squirrel, and also maybe one of the best 5-star DPS that you can use at the moment. Buddy Fairchild is a fairly simple character to use, which can be quite refreshing, especially considering how complicated some character builds can be, and the best part is he’s a great option for F2P players.
His entire kit relies on something called [Buddy Badge], which is a 3% ATK buff that can stack up to 10 times. He relies on having this stack in order to then consume the stacks for his AOE Ultimate, which allows it to deal tons more damage; if at least 10 are consumed, his Ultimate is guaranteed to crit. On top of that, his ultimate always grants all allies a 30% DMG boost, which is quite massive. The best part about this is if he has at least 10 stacks of [Buddy Badge], he will gain Moxie just from his third passive and be able to use his Ultimate for no AP cost at all, which is great to pair with other characters who need a lot of AP.
He can build up his stacks in a multitude of ways, one of the main ones being his self-buff skill [I Salute You, Pals!], through which he can gain 5-10 stacks depending on the level of the incantation. If you already have the max stacks, you also get +1 Moxie. His passive also lets him gain 2 stacks of [Buddy Badge] from an ally using their ultimate. He can also gain it from his skill [I Thank You, Nature!] which is a single-target attack and also gives him 2 stacks of [Buddy Badge].
He’s an extremely simple character to use and is probably best paired in a team where you’ll be cycling your ultimates a lot so that he will be able to cast his for free.
Pros
Completely free and easily accessible.
High DMG dealer especially for a 5 star.
[Buddy Badge] is easy to stack and very effective in getting his own damage output off while also having some support thanks to the Ultimate also buffing allies DMG.
Works well with AP heavy allies.

Build 1 - Buddy Fairchild – Ultimate DPS
Prioritizes Critical Rate/DMG and DMG Bonus. Buddy Fairchild's kit has a lot of ATK and DMG Bonus, so focusing on crit here helps to boost his damage a lot.

Unfortunately, Buddy Fairchild doesn't have any tailor-made psychubes and will need to depend on his teammates for some psychubes' activation conditions.
Another Story is a great, self-sufficient option if you have it built. Buddy can't get the Incantation Might because he doesn't have Eureka, but that's not where most of his damage is coming from, anyway. 18% Ultimate Might is really solid, and if you get lucky with merges, you can slowly stack up DMG Bonus to 8%–24%.
With Lopera on the team, you can run Substitutes and Simulacra. Her [Ritual Bullet]s make the activation condition a joke. 16%–32% Critical DMG, 8%–16% ATK, and 10% DMG Bonus is insane for a 5* psychube.
With Euphoria Melania on the team, The Carat of a Heart is simple to activate. You can use [Passion Drain], Buddy's Insight III Moxie +1, and his buff skill at max stacks to rapidly gain Moxie for that 12%–24% Ultimate Might. This psychube's 16% Critical Rate substat is kind of wasted unless you're running Lopera as well.
Her Second Life is an alright consideration especially if you're missing some survivability. Buddy will be spamming his ultimate so much that the ATK x32%–64% healing is rather significant. The 10% ATK is alright, though Buddy already buffs his ATK.
Rehearsal of Dreams gives 18% Ultimate Might, but the extra 12%–24% Ultimate Might from inflicting [Neg Status] effects is impossible to activate without the help of someone like Euphoria An-an Lee. A debuff-heavy support like Isolde, Euphoria An-an Lee, Euphoria Bkornblume, or Loggerhead can help Buddy achieve that 12%–24% DMG Bonus.
A Note on Alternatives:
Although he can get the 18%–36% Critical DMG from Never-Ending Q&A, Buddy misses out on the 12%–24% Ultimate Might. Another reason I can't fully recommend it is that Hissabeth is one of Buddy's best teammates and you'd rather use it on her instead.
As a budget option, Spinning Yarns is alright. While Buddy can't get the 5% Ultimate Might, he can easily achieve the psychube's activation condition (casting a mass ultimate and critting against every enemy) while at full stacks. The main problem is that while 12%–36% DMG Bonus and 8% DMG Bonus is good, it's a bit redundant since Buddy already buffs those stats.

About the team
It just is, don't ask me why. Probably the single strongest 'budget' team available, Buddy is an incredibly self-sufficient Ultimate Carry. He boosts his own ATK massively, generates his own Moxie and has a gigantic Mass Nuke on his Ultimate that is guaranteed to crit which also increases allied DMG Dealt. This meshes well with Melania, who is capable of stacking large amounts of Ult Might and Lopera who is known for her Ult/Incan buffs on top of considerable crit stat buffing. Medpoc just finishes this off with their defensive shredding. Buddy hits HARD, and can also be supported through generally strong buffers like Ulrich and Mercuria or some general units such as Hissabeth, Kakania, Name Day and Druvis III.
