Talent

Triggers when HP Percentage falls below 60%. Gains Thunderflow for 10 sec. Can trigger 1 time(s) per battle.

Ethereal Joan accumulates Electro Capacity by dealing DMG. Dealing DMG equal to 1000% of her Base Max HP fills the Electro Capacity, entering Overcharge state for 18 sec. During this state, DMG dealt increases by 50%, and Special and Basic ATK coefficients increase by 1.5 times. After Ethereal Joan casts any skill, deals additional Piercing DMG equal to 20% of that skill's DMG to all enemies and applies 1 stack of Thunderbrand.

After Overcharge state ends, Electro Capacity accumulation restarts. There is a 6 sec cooldown before Overcharge state can be triggered again.

[Thunderflow]: Gains immunity to any DMG, HP Loss, and Control effects. Increases CRIT Rate by 30%, and applies All DMG Taken Down (Moderate) to all allies for 10 sec.

Joan [Ethereal] is a Warrior that deals massive AOE damage and does Piercing damage, making her effective against enemies who can increase their Physical and Magic defense. Additionally, as a Piercing damage dealer, she excels at crushing shields thanks to the effect of being able to deal double damage against them. She is also the new Oathsworn for the new Synergy, Lunar Vigil. Lunar Vigil consists of Her, Acapella, Albrecht and Theophane. This synergy features the regular synergy bonuses and increased Damage Dealt by 10% up to a maximum of 40% according to the number of buffs the target has (10% each debuff). She is also one of the Vassals that received Resonantia Effects from the heirloom Vault, giving her additional effects on her skills according to her Spirit Siphon Tier.

Now, let’s break down her kit to see what she is capable of.

Starting with her Basic Attack Crescent Cleave, a cone-shaped attack that deals damage to all enemies in front of her, this is fairly short-ranged given that she is a melee vassal.

Next is her Special Thunder Clouds, an incredible AOE skill that triggers every two Basic Attacks. This skill unleashes thunderbolts around the radius of her target, dealing massive damage, hitting multiple enemies at once. Having ATK SPD blessings will be incredible with her to constantly proc this skill.

Then her Ultimate costing 4 bloodsouls deals two instances of damage in a cone-shaped area in the selected direction. This Ultimate can stun all the enemies within the range and its Critical Damage is also increased by 50%.

Lastly, her Talent, there are two parts to her talent, starting with Thunderflow, which can be triggered once her HP percentage falls to 60% and this buff will last for 10 seconds. Thunderflow provides her Invincibility, meaning she’ll take no damage, will ignore any Control Effects for the duration. Not only that she also buffs herself with 30% Crit Rate and buffs all allies with All DMG Taken Down (Moderate), further making the team durable. The second part of this talent is Overcharge. Overcharge is a state that is only achievable after Joan [Ethereal] fills up her Electro Capacity (Electro Capacity is based on 1000% of her Max HP).

Once filled, she enters this state and receives damage buffs such as: Increased Damage Dealt by 50%, increased Basic Attack and Special coefficient by 1.5 times. Additionally, each skill deals an additional 20% Damage on top of the skill’s current damage to all enemies. This also applies a mark called Thunderbrand, which can trigger a stun when the stack reaches five.

Now for her Resonantia Effects;

  • R1 Static Overflow - Makes her gain a certain amount of electro capacity once she triggers Thunderflow.

  • R3 Blood Memory - She gains more HP, has more All DMG Reduction and Crit Resist Rate.

  • R5 Breaking Point - She increases the use of Thunderflow by 1, making her twice as durable.

  • R7 Deliverance - During her overcharge state, she can also gain ATK SPD up Major and this is active as long as she is in overcharge state.

  • R9 Severance - More HP, ATK, Physical and Magical Defense.

Overall, Joan [Ethereal]  is an incredible frontliner capable of being tanky and cleaving enemies along her path. Although her range is not the greatest compared to the current Meta DPS, such as Aiona [Timeless], Alexi, Fanny, and Seraphina, she’s still at least comparable to their ranks.

Teambuilding-wise, she already stole two important supports, namely: Acapella and Albrecht. Her synergy is still lacking given that there's only three vassal as initiates, in the future Moonton will probably add more debuffers for the synergy as its the main focus of the synergy, for now they will work well with Fanny another Piercing damage DPS or Hati [Transcendent] as Continuous DMG are considered debuff they will help hit the threshold of four buffs minimum.

If you're trying to get the most out of her Resonantia, go ahead and get her R7. This is a stopping point to obtain every important effect; however, she's fine for her base copy, as you will eventually get more dupes along the way.

Pros & Cons
Pros

  • Has Damage Immunity for 10 seconds (20 seconds at R5). Makes bursting her difficult.

  • Great AOE and Control coverage from her Special and Ultimate.

  • Piercing DMG dealer capable of ignoring a portion of the target’s defense regardless of whether they buff themselves.

  • She can also improve all allies' durability thanks to Thunderflow.

Cons

  • Skills are quite short, requiring enemies to be converging to make her skills effective.

  • She stole two of the best supporters (Acapella and Albrecht).

  • Synergy needs more debuffers that are also part of it.

  • High investment ceiling, performance will greatly vary depending on the number of spirit siphons. (Great for Whales, Bad for F2Ps).

Skill Investment

The numbers in the skill levels are placed in this order: Basic / Special / Ultimate. You can find more information about the colors in the section below.

Here's the explanation for all the numbers and colors used in the guide:

  • 10/5/7 means upgrading Basic to lvl 10, Special to lvl 5, and Ultimate to lvl 7,
  • Blue means the immediate investment when u get the unit (and are using them),
  • Orange means recommended investment for F2P players,
  • Red means maximum recommended investment, in order to get the best out of the unit.

More info:

  • The skill investment list below features a lot of Level 4 and 7 because they are easier to understand. Any higher levels will cost a new type of resource.
  • However, you may choose to upgrade to Level 5 if you need a stronger effect instead of 4, as the increase in Blue Manual cost from Level 4 to 5 is still low. The leap only starts from Level 6 onward.
  • There is also a leap from Level 3 to 4, so if you want to save a tiny bit of Blue Manuals, then leave at 3 instead of 4.

Priority explained:

  • Meta: Most important characters used everywhere.
  • High: Good in various PvE content.
  • Medium: Good in at least one PvE content.
  • Low: Can perform well in some PVE content, but they're niche.
  • PvP: These units are mainly used in PvP.

The Recommended and Flex stats listed below aren't placed in specific order. We may order them in the future once we have a better understanding of the damage formula, but currently the order does not matter.
