Spec Overview
Moonstrike Spec, despite being called Moonstrike, actually focuses on the

Moonstrike is a stat-hungry spec that relies on having high Haste and Luck to reach its full potential. Gameplay revolves around using the Blade Intent resource on its core ability, Thundercut, while maintaining Scythe Wheel, a giant homing spinning blade. Moonstrike’s main feature is its stat breakpoints, the main one being that at certain Haste thresholds Thundercut hits can be multiplied by up to 4 times!
When played and geared well, Moonstrike is competitive in high-end content and ends up with abundant resources to spam abilities liberally.
Pros
- Good burst damage.
- Exceptional endgame scaling (with breakpoints).
- Edgy Scythes.
Cons
- Potential relies on breakpoints.
- Low party utility.
- Scythe Wheel can be buggy in certain fights.
Note
These recommendations assume you have Level 140/150 Set Gear and a Level 150 Relic Weapon.
Pieces marked in Orange will be your recommended stats if you use Set pieces. Purple lines are only applicable for non-set gear. Additionally, the Relic weapons will not have Purple Lines or Reforges.
Stat Tuning
We are targeting around 80% Attack Speed to maximize our skill ticks. By leveling up Celestial Flier, you can swap some Haste reforges into Luck, which helps trigger your talents more easily.
Additionally, maintaining a solid Mastery rating is crucial. You should include a small buffer of Versatility (around 10%), provided it does not negatively impact your primary Mastery total.

Optimal Season 1 Endgame Gear
Note
These suggestions assume you have level 80 Gear and a level 90 Weapon.
Pieces marked in Orange will be your recommended stats if you use Set pieces. Purple lines are only applicable for non-set gear. Additionally, the Relic weapons will not have Purple Lines or Reforges.
Stat Tuning
We are targeting around 80% Attack Speed, if using Celestial Flier there will likely be a little bit of overcap but that is completely fine (around 90%) .The Haste will be around the 4000 value which we will easily reach with the set pieces. Luck will be our next best stat after Haste and the one providing the most benefits, also helping trigger your talents more easily.
Additionally, maintaining a solid amount of both Mastery and Versatility in close to equal range rating is crucial (About 560 points). After that we want to also splash a little bit of crit for additional damage, due to how the curves work.

Stat Tuning
We are targeting around 80% Attack Speed, which translates to roughly ~2480 Haste. This requirement offers flexibility: by incorporating higher-tier gems or the Agility stat, you can swap some Haste reforges into Luck, which helps trigger your talents more easily.
Additionally, maintaining a solid Mastery rating is crucial. You should include a small buffer of Versatility (up to 300 points), provided it does not negatively impact your primary Mastery total.

Slot 4 - Mandatory

Blade Intent - Blade Intent is our core resource, which accumulates at a rate of 2 per second baseline and is used exclusively for our main ability -

Thunder Sigil - Thunder Sigils (Sigils for short) are our secondary resource, generated mostly via talents. Sigils are used exclusively to activate our Special ability, Moonstrike, to recover Blade Intent and trigger talents.
Fixed Skills
- - Stormblade’s basic attack is only useful for Moonstrike during downtime in order to trigger one of the class's core talent effects, Piercing Slash. You’ll be spamming it during downtime for this effect, but nothing more.Judgment Cut
![Imagine]()
- Can become Divine Sickle temporarily with the talent “Divine Sickle” unlocked.
- Moonstrike - The Special Skill replacing. Requires 3 Sigils to activate, and while not a key part of our burst rotation is vital during our downtime rotation. Also activates many of our talent node synergies while generating Blade Intent for our next burst window.Iaido Slash
![Imagine]()
- Can become Chaos Breaker temporarily with the talent “Chaos Breaker” unlocked.
- -Our ultimate deals solid AoE damage and generates maximum Sigils on use. It also pulls all eligible enemies in front of you to your position, serving as a grouping tool. Use it to gather enemies or during downtime to use back-to-back Moonstrikes.Oblivion Combo
![Imagine]()
Mandatory Skills
- - The core ability of Moonstrike we’ll be spending all our Blade Intent on. It has no CD, only requires 50 Blade Intent, makes up the majority of our damage, and has a unique scaling effect reliant on your ATK Speed. At 25% ATK Speed, this ability will double its hit count (doubling damage), at 50%, triple, and at 80% quadruple.Thundercut
![Imagine]()
- Can become Thundercleave temporarily with the talent “Moonstrike Delay” unlocked.
- - Spawns one (two with talents) homing blade/s on the floor that deal damage every 2 seconds (scaling with ATK Speed). Despite dealing low base damage, the consistent hits delivered will trigger many Lucky Hit effects in addition to talent procs. This is one of our core abilities, and with talents is an ability you must keep active at all times.Scythe Wheel
![Imagine]()
- - Only used during downtime to generate Sigils after activating Piercing Slash to use more Moonstrikes. Still important to take however, to ensure smooth Blade Intent recovery during downtime.Overdrive
![Imagine]()
Flex Skills (Choose 1)
- - Our main cooldown that generates an additional 20 Blade Intent per second for the next 10 seconds. Also causes all Expertise Blade Intent spenders to trigger Lightning Strikes, dealing extra damage. Interacts with many of our best talents while also feeding us enough Blade Intent to allow us to spam Thundercut. Should be used whenever available and aligned with other cooldowns, such as Imagines when possible.Stormflash

Focus on

- Overclock Wave: Releases an energy wave, interrupting all targets within 5m.
- Provides us with an interrupt to stop elites from casting annoying skills and interrupt some raid and dungeon boss mechanics.
- Unyielding Spirit: Grants 35% additional Resistance for 5s. This skill can store 2 charges.
- A great defensive option to use when we know we will take a big hit.
- Master of Stealth: Conceals the caster's presence to prevent Aggro generation and cleanses all debuffs from the caster for 10s.
- A good tool to use when the tank is pulling enemies in a dungeon to avoid drawing aggro to yourself.
- Energy Reflux: Instantly recovers 50% Stamina and increases Movement Speed by 15% for 5s.
- A good tool for situations when you need to dodge often or chase after high movement enemies.
Talents
Important!
Embedded is our recommended core max-level Moonstrike talent tree containing all the specs' top talents alongside 2 flex points you can spend on player choice talents you like most.
Gameplay Altering Talents
Most of our talents just help us do what we’re already planning on doing better, but some have a drastic impact on our itemization and rotation. Below is an outline of all the gameplay-altering effects you need to be aware of in the Moonstrike Spec and Base Stormblade talents.
Base Stormblade Tree
- Keen Strike - Grants Basic Attacks a 10/20% chance per hit (scaling with enemies and number of hits) to trigger Piercing Slash, dealing damage and causing our next Overdrive to generate 3 Sigils instead of 1. Fuels our ability to use Moonstrike during downtime, improving Blade Intent recovery.
- Overdrive will glow purple when enhanced by Piercing Slash.

- Swift - Improves our Haste% → ATK SPD% scaling from 1:0.6 → 1:1.6, making Haste even more valuable than it already is, making Thundercut breakpoints far easier to hit
Moonstrike Tree
- Thunder Seed - Upon casting Thundercut, gain 2 stacks of a new resource, Charge Seeds. At 15 or above, the next Thundercut consumes them to trigger a Storm Scythe, dealing damage in an area in front of you.
- Moonstrike Delay - After 5 consecutive Thundercuts, the next one evolves into Thundercleave, which deals more damage and doesn’t consume Blade Intent. Use Thundercuts in batches of 5 whenever possible.
- Chaos Breaker - Grants a single use of Chaos Breaker (the evolved form of Moonstrike) after activating Stormflash. Chaos Breaker deals significant damage and immediately fully recovers our Blade Intent. Save it for when out of Blade Intent to immediately refill in order to continue Thundercut usage.
- Moonstrike Sharp Strike - Causes all Moonstrike (the special skill) and Chaos Breaker hits to be guaranteed to be Critical Hits when used while we have 50 Blade Intent or higher. Maintain at least 50 Blade Intent in reserve before using these abilities to ensure this effect is always in play.
- Divine Sickle - Unlocks Divine Sickle, a large and potent single-use ability that replaces your basic attack ability temporarily and will always crit. Is acquired after every 7 Storm Scythes trigger. Ensure you don’t overcap on charges of this ability and waste activations. We recommend using it as soon as available.
- Lightning Flash - Doubles the hit rate of Scythe Wheels (Called Moonstrike by the game) during Stormflash. This doubling is a multiplier separate from ATK Speed, making it a potent tool for turbo-charging lucky hits and talent activations
- Phantom Scythe Realm II - Thundercut now regenerates a portion of its consumed Blade Intent based on our Luck Chance. A must-have talent as it allows far more liberal usage of Thundercut. Boosts the value of luck considerably.
Player Choice Talents
- Thunder Curse - The optimal use of our remaining 2 points, but requires alterations to our rotation to keep active. To get value out of this talent, we must start our rotation by using 2 Moonstrikes to establish its buff, then use a special attack at least every 10 seconds after. The easiest way to build initial stacks is to open your rotation with our ultimate, followed by 2 Moonstrikes. While technically best adds more complexity to the rotation and also eats time that could otherwise be spent using Thunder Cut.
- Moonstrike Sharp Strike - A lower damage alternative to Thunder Curse, but which is much simpler to play. Keep Blade Intent above 50 when using Chaos Breaker or Moonstrike to guarantee it Critically strikes.

Gear
Important!
All gear & talent related info is based on extensive in-game testing, parsing, theory crafting and simulations. If you want to learn more about how damage works to understand our decisions, check out our Damage Formula Guide.
Main Stats
- Luck - One of our main scaling factors. Boosts our Luck-based damage, luck hit rate, and, most importantly, is vital for triggering a huge amount of our most impactful talent tree synergies and nodes. We are aiming for 50% Luck minimum in order to capitalize on our Psychoscope and talent procs.
- Haste - Haste speeds up our rotation, improves the hit rate of our Scythe Wheels, and enhances the hit count of our Thundercuts, making it a must-build stat. We recommend building enough Haste to hit above 50% Attack SPD as soon as possible, with 80% during Imagine buffs being a long-term goal, but not mandatory.
- While Haste is absolutely one of our best stats, it loses value after reaching the final 80% breakpoint, with more than this being less effective.
- Mastery - Mastery grants us 1.5% Final Damage Multiplier per 1% Mastery to Thundercut, Thundercleave, Stormscythe, and Divine Sickle, all of which contribute massively to our damage. Because of how strong unique multipliers are, Mastery is very strong to build towards after reaching sufficient Luck and Haste.
- Versatility - This stat is always beneficial as it provides an extra multiplicative boost on top of all other DMG increases. Stats suffer diminishing returns, so a small amount of versatility is recommended.
- Crit - This Spec has many means of guaranteeing critical hits on potent abilities and doesn’t have any innate Crit scaling. Regardless, Crit is still OK after factoring in diminishing returns, but is our lowest priority.
Bonus Stats
In gear slots you’re not using Set Gear in and which aren’t taken up by your class's signature Class weapon (if you have it), prioritize the following Purple Stats:
Helmet, Armour, Gloves, Boots
Agility%
Weapons & Accessories
ATK SPD% > Melee DMG% = DMG% vs. Bosses = ATK%
Set Gear
Moonstrike’s 2P set bonus is definitely worth equipping as soon as you’re able to complete Raids and is better than Purple Bonuses. The 4P, on the other hand, isn’t quite as strong and is more comparable to purple damage bonuses. Here is what they do:
2-piece SET
When Attack SPD is below 80%, Attack SPD +6%; When Attack SPD is 80% or higher, Expertise Skill Thunder DMG +7%.
4-Piece SET
After 2 uses of Divine Sickle, your next Divine Sickle triggers 1 instance of Reversal Blade, which counts as Divine Sickle.
Class weapon
Our Class weapon is also definitely worth using over purple stats. Instead of a purple stat it grants:
- 6% Luck (Adds right on top of your Luck Chance).
- Increased stats.
Note!
The percentage value shows the impact of the module compared to not having any module equipped (each module is calculated based on it being +6).
Here are the best modules for Stormblade - Moonstrike - listed in priority order:
Lvl 3: +0.93%
Lvl 6: +7.59%

A great module for damage, since we are often fighting at least one Elite or higher-level enemy. Not active outside of Elites/Bosses.
Lvl 3: +0.93%
Lvl 6: +6.57%

Providing Agility and General Physical Damage once at the max level making one of the strongest buff overall.
Lvl 3: +0.81%
Lvl 6: +5.93%

Falls a bit behind our top two options due to the large quantity of Haste we are assuming, but still a reasonable choice and with a higher value if having less haste compared to other options.
Lvl 3: +0.61%
Lvl 6: +4.83%

Even if it provides strength that is not useful, it does provide Def ignore once at the maximum level, making it a competitive choice.
Lvl 3: +0.38%
Lvl 6: +4.34%

It provides Luck DMG Multiplier that we have already in a large quantity making the module very diluted in value. Making this node falls shorter than thought.
Lvl 3: +0.38%
Lvl 6: +3.27%

Grants us some Crit Dmg% as well as some extra DMG%. Since we lack crit, it's not a good option.
Lvl 3: +0.93%
Lvl 6: +2.49%

It provides Adaptive attack and main stats while also providing Elemental Damage for our Special attacks. Due to the Low Special Damage done this option it’s not great.

Universal
- - This imagine is overall the best DPS imagine that we can ask for, providing a 10% Multiplayer additive with our mastery during his active and a stacking 1.2% bonus added to that multiplayer based on hits done up to 5 times. Those buffs last essentially for 35s due to the extension properties this imagine has, providing essentially a 16% final multiplayer that is very strong and makes this imagine the best overall on every DPS. Additionally this imagine provides 1% lifesteal and has 2 Charge making it able to be used roughly every 60s instead of 120s as others, making it having an almost perfect uptime on burst windows.Rorola
![Imagine]()
- Note: When Using Rorola, you will want to focus more on Mastery than Versatility.
- - Similarly to Rorola it has an extension mechanism and Double activation, making it already strong just for this option. Additionally during the activation it provides 8% Atk% and 1% more up to 5 times for every Special Cast. Once at Max stacks it also provides Atk Speed and Cast speed, making a very strong alternative for whales and high end players.Boyce
![Imagine]()
Top Gold Imagines
- - The combination of massive passive +Flat Haste in addition to a +%Haste bonus on use allows us to more easily hit Thunder Cut’s 50% breakpoint, and with optimization, even the 80% breakpoint, boosting damage considerably. While definitely a top option when aiming for breakpoints loses value compared to other options when a breakpoint cannot be reached.Celestial Flier
![Imagine]()
- - Unfortunately, there is no passive +Flat Luck and +%Luck Imagine to choose from, so Phantom Arachnocrab’s +Flat Mastery and +%Mastery on use cooldown is our next best option when it comes to Gold Imagines at lower advancement levels.Phantom Arachnocrab
![Imagine]()
Top Purple Imagines
- - Emerald Caprahorn offers substantial flat Haste through its passive, plus Haste% when activated, which enhances our haste scaling. The equivalent stats and lower cooldown makes the imagine more powerful than A2 or lower Celestial Flier.Emerald Caprahorn [A5]
![Imagine]()
- - Muku Scout 5 grants us a passive 15% ATK provided we are consistently hitting attacks. Upon activation, it doubles the stacks, giving a tremendous 30% ATK buff, amplifying the entirety of our damage. A generic, accessible, and exceptionally strong option.Muku Scout [A5]
![Imagine]()
- - Providing a large amount of Mastery flat with his passive and Mastery% when active, enchanting our mastery scaling making this imagine stronger than the Arachnocrab till the second Advancement.Blackfire Foxen [A5]
![Imagine]()
- - Brigand Scout Leader grants 10% Agility passively and a further 20% temporarily on use, which together form a tremendous damage increase. While powerful for Agility classes, it is specific to exactly that attribute, making it a less flexible investment than more generic options.Brigand Scout Leader [A5]
![Imagine]()
- - Shadow Captain provides lots of Expertise Skill DMG%, so whilst niche, this Imagine is one of our strongest Epic options. A large portion of our damage is Expertise Damage, which Shadow Cap boosts by up to 47%.Shadow Captain [A5]
![Imagine]()
Situational AoE Imagines
- - Storm Goblin King is not able to keep up in single target due to possessing no passive stat increase at the same time as having a less powerful on-use boost compared to alternatives. But in AoE, his lucky hit trigger being fully AoE, combined with many more targets to activate off, makes him a solid multi-target focused option.Storm Goblin King
![Imagine]()
- - Similar to Storm Goblin King in single target, Lizardman Hunter isn’t able to keep up, but in AoE, thanks to the fact that his luck trigger is also AoE, he also becomes a possible choice in multi-target content.Lizardman Hunter [A5]

Class
| Name | Description (Lvl 10) | Note |
|---|---|---|
| 1 Stormflash | Stormflash duration +3.5s; Moonstrike, Thunderstrike Dream DMG +11.4% | Provides extra duration to our burst phase, a must-have! |
| 2 Storm Scythe | Storm Scythe, Divine Sickle Dream DMG +8.5% | Provides good damage to our highest damaging ability. |
| 3 Moonstrike | Moonstrike attack count +3; Moonstrike Dream DMG +10% | Grants additional ticks towards our spinning scythes. Good, but not necessary since we can already keep it up permanently. |
Polarity (Offensive)
| Name | Description (Lvl 10) | Note |
|---|---|---|
| 1 Luck +, Haste - | Luck gained in any way +10%, but Haste gained in any way –6% | Since we are focusing Luck in our build, and we can overcap attack speed in our build, this is a great option! |
| 2 Element | All Element +212 | A good damage boost, contributing towards our luck damage and all skills. |
| 3 Expertise | Expertise Skill Dream DMG +7% | Boosts our highest damaging abilities’ damage. |
| 4 Agility | Agility +75; Agility +2% | Our main damage stat, contributing towards our luck damage and all skills. |
Stasis (Defensive)
| Stasis (Defensive) | ||
|---|---|---|
| Name | Description (Lvl 10) | Note |
| Class - Volt Surge | During Volt Surge and Stormflash, restores 8% Max HP per second | A decent option for us, giving us some HP regen during our burst window. |
| 1 Damage Reduction | When incoming damage exceeds current HP, that damage is reduced by 35% (up to once every 30s) | Helps with survivability. |
| 2 Max HP | Max HP +6000; Max HP +1.5% | Contributes towards our HP pool. |
| 3 HP Stack | If no damage is taken for 8s, Max HP +3.5% for the next 10s, stacking up to 3 times | A decent defensive boost. Allows us to proc Life Wave in moments where we aren’t getting hit. |
Fantasia Impact: Every 20 Lucky Strikes trigger Fantasia Impact, up to once every 10s. Each Lucky Strike triggered reduces the internal CD of Fantasia Impact by 0.35s.
- Fantasia Impact: (Luck Effect) Deal Dmg equal to 1250% ATK to enemies within 3m.
- Split Nodes: Reconstruct -> Multi-Phasic Strike -> Class DEF -> Dual -> Blink Breath
This Psychoscope is one of our best options due to a lot of our damage coming from Lucky Hits anyway. We choose our Multi-Phasic Strike and Dual nodes in order to increase the damage of Fantasia Impact based on our high hit frequency.
Culinary
- Fresh Soup - Grants Elite/Boss DMG% as well as a strong amount of ATK, making it the superior choice.
- Meatfish Skewer - More ATK than Fresh Soup, but without the Elite/Boss DMG%, it is less powerful.
Alchemy
- Electrolytic Lizard Spine Reagent - Usually the best choice for our Alchemy consumable when aiming for maximum damage.
- Starshine Oil - Provides a strong buff to our Physical damage with roughly 10% Phys Boost, but this will often come just shy of beating the Light Damage bonus.
- Haste - Best until reaching the 80% ATK SPD Breakpoint. But use something else past that point
- Luck - The best alternative once our Attack SPD breakpoint has been met.
Rotation & How to Play
Burst Rotation
Our goal with our burst rotation is to execute as many

- Use Scythe Wheel

- Use Imagines if available
- Use Stormflash

- Use Chaos Breaker when less than 50 Blade Intent
- Continue until out of Blade Intent again or Imagine Duration ends.

Downtime Rotation
While waiting for Stormflash, our objective is to recover Blade Intent through the use of Moonstrike, ready for our next burst rotation - ideally, you’ll recover all 400 in time. In addition to this, you must also maintain Scythe Wheel at all times.
Coming out of our burst window, we’ll have a full 6 Sigils thanks to Breath of Mark, dump these immediately into two Moonstrikes, then, if available, follow up with

is available, you can optionally choose to spend some of it onStormflashs to prevent wastage.Thundercut

Full Auto
The logic of full auto can get stuck on when to use/refresh Scythe Wheel and will use Oblivion Combo at inopportune times. Therefore, we do not recommend playing Moonstrike on full auto.
Semi Auto
More effectively, but still not optimally, Moonstrike can be played on semi-auto. If doing so, we recommend removing Scythe Wheel, Oblivion Combo, and your Battle Imagines from the auto settings in favor of using them manually. While semi-auto is usable and likely an upgrade for some players, it is not optimal in endgame.
Note
Auto-play does not dodge attacks or respect mechanics for you; you will have to manually play rotations in endgame content. It’s very likely that playing on auto will cause you to be hit far more often by attacks and boss mechanics; use it with caution.
