"If you're not good with a dish, just make it more often! I don't cook to show off! I do it to make a pretty and joyful feast!"
Da Pan hails from the prestigious Hongshan Academy of Sciences, but after leaving, he took up all kinds of "dispersed key logistical support roles" — from chef and electrician to chauffeur and street vendor. His latest move? Joining the Specialist Tech Division of Endfield Industries as an independent.
Of all the roles he's taken on, the one he's most proud of is being a traveling chef. He's passionate about exploring new recipes and creating inventive dishes. Nothing makes him happier than crafting delicious meals that win praise from every diner he serves.
There's a water bottle Da Pan keeps with him at all times, though few ever notice it. Those who can read Yanese characters might wonder about its origin. But if they're from Hongshan, they'll know exactly where it came from and the weight it carries as an honor awarded only to a Vanguard Scientist.

Umbral Monument
Free and boosted Crush application with Combo Skill, freeing up SP to use on Vulnerable applying Battle Skills.
Solid personal Physical DMG% buffs.
His stack application is above average as he applies 1 Vulnerable on Battle Skill and 2 with Ultimate.
Can lower the cooldown of Combo Skill significantly when played optimally, thanks to Salty or Mild talent.
Cooldown-based Crush can sometimes leave scenarios where the team has Vulnerable ready but no spender.
Combo and main source of damage cannot be accessed without maxing out Vulnerable, demanding a more all-in Physical strategy than most.
Da Pan is a 5-star, Physical, Great Sword damage dealer whose kit revolves around building up 4 Vulnerability stacks on enemies with the help of his team. In order to spend them with his Combo Skill to inflict damage, boosted Crush reactions. Da Pan’s Combo Skill can only be triggered after the enemy reaches 4 Vulnerability stacks. Meaning that to be played effectively, he almost always wants to be played with other characters capable of inflicting Vulnerable.
While the focal point of Da Pan’s kit is definitely his ability to trigger Crush without investing SP, the rest of his kit is also a great mix of utility and buffs. Despite being a Vulnerable consumer, Da Pan’s own Vulnerable application is no slouch. He’s capable of applying 1 through Lift every time he uses his Battle Skill and another 2 through a combo of Lift and Knock Down with his Ultimate, making launching fully stacked combos on cooldown a very realistic goal. All of these Physical effects also mean Da Pan can dish out quite a lot of Stagger in teams as well.
Furthermore, Da Pan also has self-buffing in his talents, which grants him the ability to gain Physical DMG% when played as intended. This, when combined with the built-in boost to Crush in his Combo Skill, makes his reactions hit that much harder.
If your team builds a lot of Vulnerability stacks and doesn’t have a way to consume them yet, Da Pan might be a character to consider slotting in to make use of them without needing to invest a single point of SP.
Da Pan’s combo is the heart of his kit and what he and his team will be playing around with in fights. Its trigger requirement is hefty, only becoming available when an enemy reaches a full 4 Vulnerability stacks. Its cooldown also isn ’t as short as you’d hope. Luckily, though, this can be solved through Da Pan’s talents and effective play.
Using it deals a large amount of Physical damage, some Stagger, and applies Crush, which in most cases will consume the 4 Vulnerable needed to activate it in order to deal even more Physical damage. For further Crush synergy this ability also has a built-in bonus DMG% scaler, which scales additively with other sources of DMG% like Physical DMG%.
Tip: While usually not optimal, it’s possible to hold Da Pan’s combo in reserve, trigger Crush or Breach with a different character, then use the combo to immediately reapply a stack of Vulnerability on the target
Da Pan’s Battle Skill is far simpler; it’s a standard 100 SP attack that deals some AoE Physical Damage, Stagger, and applies Lift to enemies it hits. This isn’t a must-use ability, but you’ll usually still find it optimal to do so in order to trigger set and weapon effects. This skill becomes much more interesting and powerful after unlocking Da Pan’s potential 5, though.
Da Pan’s ultimate thankfully has a bit more to it and is far more unique. It costs 90 energy, summons a chopping board which launches all enemies hit in an AoE into the air, applying Lift and Vulnerability. Then, deals a series of quick slashes which deal Physical damage, followed by a large slam which applies Knock Down and another stack of Vulnerability.
Summing it up, the ultimate does solid damage and applies 2 Vulnerability on use, making it a stand-out addition to any Physical team that can make use of a burst of Vulnerability stacks. Da Pan’s ultimate also has major interactions with his Salty or Mild talent, which can drastically impact when you want to use it for those looking to optimize.
Da Pan’s talents are a combination of damage and key mechanics, which can smooth out his rotation in high Vulnerable application teams.
His first talent, Reduce and Thicke,n grants Da Pan a buff for every Vulnerability stack he consumes, up to a limit of 4. Each stack lasts 10 seconds and grants him +6% Physical DMG, meaning when using his Combo Skill to Crush 4 Vulnerability stacks, he’ll gain a 24% Physical DMG bonus total. You don’t have to play Da Pan any differently to take advantage of the bulk of the value this provides. But if you’re looking to optimize, aiming to fit the majority of Da Pan’s high multiplier abilities in this buff window is a goal to strive for.
Da Pan’s other talent is Salty or Mild, which adds a new mechanic to his Ultimate. After hitting with the final sequence of his Ultimate, Da Pan gains a stack of Prep Ingredients per enemy struck up to a limit of 2; each stack lasts 20 seconds. Da Pan’s Combo Skill consumes Prep Ingredients on hit and reduces its next cooldown by -40% per stack consumed, allowing him to get around his sometimes restrictive 19–20 seconds Combo Skill cooldown, ensuring he’s ready to Crush whenever you have resources available to accumulate 4 Vulnerable. This is especially important when considering the spike of Vulnerability stacks he generates through his Ultimate.
Playing Da Pan on a baseline isn’t hard. Nevertheless, if you want to consistently make maximum use of his Ultimate’s extra Vulnerability stacks, ensure all his highest hitting abilities occur during his talent's buff, and that you trigger the cooldown reduction of his talent. The Basics are:
Use Da Pan’s Battle Skill at least once per rotation to accumulate Vulnerability stacks and trigger set and weapon bonuses. When using the Aethertech set, make sure to use the Battle Skill to inflict the 4th and final Vulnerable to activate its bonus effect.
At 4 stacks, and with as many buffs up as possible, use Da Pan’s Combo Skill to activate Crush.
When Ultimate is available, use it to quickly accumulate Vulnerability Stacks, ideally without wastage or interrupting your team's usual rotation. This is easier said than done when needing to play around Da Pan’s combo cooldown if you’re not triggering his cooldown reduction talent.
For more advanced players, you can aim to try to achieve the following for greater success:
Use Da Pan’s Ultimate while his talent Physical DMG% buff is active for a damage boost. Aligning this and talent stack duration while ensuring Vulnerable isn’t wasted isn’t easy, though.
Consume Prep Ingredients generated by Da Pan’s Ultimate with Combo Skill to lower combo cooldown, allowing Da Pan to Crush more often enuring the duration of the buff doesn’t expire. This is usually key to consuming the extra Vulnerability stacks generated by Da Pan’s and other operators’ ultimates when the team has no other Vulnerable spenders in the team.

The percentages show the performance of the weapon based on calculations, but in some cases, some Weapons might provide additional QOL that can't be quantified and it would push that weapon ahead of others in the priority (and in those cases, we would put that weapon higher).
The solo percentage shows how the weapon impacts Da Pan performance if you look at their damage in the vacuum, while the team percentage shows the impact of the weapon when taking into account full team, including buffs etc.
Stat 1 Boost - 9/9
Main Attribute: +132
Stat 2 Boost - 9/9
Attack: +39.00%
Passive Boost - 4/9
Physical DMG Bonus: +16.00%
Stat 1 Boost - 9/9
Strength: +156
Stat 2 Boost - 9/9
Critical Rate: +19.50%
Passive Boost - 4/9
An alternative generic 6-star option you can use if you don't yet have Exemplar. But which falls behind as it grants imperfect passives stats, which are at a lower value as well, the third stat is Crit Rate, which on release is an undesirable damage stat for Da Pan. All that, plus the fact that its Weapon Effect is also underwhelming, makes it a noticeable downgrade over Da Pan's best.
Stat 1 Boost - 9/9
Strength: +124
Stat 2 Boost - 9/9
Arts Intensity: +62
Passive Boost - 9/9
Arts Intensity: +28
Da Pan's best 5-star option, which is competitive with Sundered Prince at max dupes, thanks to its solid passive stats, which grant Da Pan a whole lot of Arts Intensity, which is usually a bit rough for DPS characters, but as a Crush Specialist, it's fine for Da Pan. The main thing holding this weapon back from better performance is its lower base Attack and stats due to rarity. Its Weapon Effect is also very easily activated by D Pan and is a large boost to his overall damage output.
Stat 1 Boost - 9/9
Strength: +93
Stat 2 Boost - 9/9
Attack: +23.40%
Passive Boost - 9/9
Last resort option if you're lacking any of the choices above. Has the correct passive stats, but all at much lower base values, setting it significantly behind all other choices
The solo percentage shows how the set and gear impact Da Pan performance if you look at their damage in the vacuum, while the team percentage shows the impact when taking into account full team, including buffs etc.
Between the pre-release version of Endfield and 1.0, there was some major balance adjustments. The two major ones that have affected some of the %'s on a few of our build guides are the major buff to Physical Status effects (namely Breach and Crush), and the the nerf to Bonus DMG% vs Staggered gear pieces. All other character buffs/nerfs have also now been factored in but they have minimal impact on %'s. Note - no recommendations have changed as a result of this update, only the relative differences between weapons, sets and pieces was affected.
Attack +8%. When the wearer applies Vulnerability, Physical DMG +8% for 15s. This effect can reach 4 stacks. If the target already has 4 stack(s) of Vulnerability, the wearer gains an additional Physical DMG +16% for 10s. This effect cannot stack.
Aethertech has almost a full set of ideal set pieces for Da Pan, with all three stats being correct. This, combined with its powerful Set Bonus, which triggers on Vulnerable application (which Da Pan applies more than most other Operators do, thanks to his Ultimate) and its additional effect that triggers when applying up to 4 Vulnerable stacks (which Da Pan teams all want to achieve to trigger his combo) make it his standout choice. Other options could be considered for utility, but when it comes to damage, Aethertech is the go-to.

Keep in mind that the gear pieces below are being compared against having nothing equipped on the character at all. This means that in some cases, when you include Weapons, other pieces, outside buffs etc, the values of some pieces may change. For more accurate information, check the section above where we picked the best combination when you look at all pieces equipped.
Pieces marked with a star* can perform better than listed - this applies to:
Grants Da Pan’s Ultimate another new effect, causing it to grant him a buff which increases his Physical DMG by +30% for the next 15s after killing an enemy with it. This passive has limited use in challenging boss fights and definitely takes planning and attention in order to trigger, but for those willing to optimize, it can be useful, especially in fights with multiple weaker enemies. Note: Stack size is limited to 1; this potential’s damage boost has not been included in Da Pan’s damage calculations due to our single-target-focused criteria.
Increases the stack size of Prep Ingredients from 2 to 3 and increases its duration from 20 to 30s. This potential might not seem like much, but it offers Da Pan a huge quality of life when playing around Prep Ingredients. With it, Da Pan no longer needs to worry about Prep Ingredients timing out when using his Ultimate too soon before his Combo Skill. Its 30-second duration is now much longer than the full 19-20 second CD of Da Pan’s Combo Skill. This means, at worse even if you use your Ultimate directly after Combo Skill to take advantage of Reduce and Thicken’s Physical DMG boost, you’ll still have time to spare to consume stacks and reduce your next combo’s cooldown. Note: This potential is powerful, but is more for quality of life and flexibility than damage increases. That’s why it doesn’t show as a damage improvement in calculations.
A small boost to strength and Physical DMG%, resulting in a minor damage increase for Da Pan, but nothing game-changing.
Reduces Da Pan’s Ultimate Cost by -15%, taking it from 90 energy to 7,7 improving accessibility, leading to more damage, Stagger, Vulnerability stacks, and Salty or Mild activations for more cooldown reduction on Da Pan’s Combo Skill throughout the fight. This allows him to more consistently Crush, even when paired with allies outputting above average Vulnerable Infliction.
Causes Da Pan’s Battle Skill to become enhanced once every 45 seconds, applying 2 Vulnerable on use instead of 1. This is an incredibly potent improvement when played around and can allow for incredibly quick Vulnerable accumulation, which Da Pan or his teammates can convert into instant damage. A very strong potential, but it will require you to change your standard rotation for one that includes the extra Vulnerability stack it grants. Note: Due to the shake-up of rotation caused by this potential and how good it is, being determined by your team's ability to actually consume the additional Vulnerability stacks provided, we haven’t included it in our calculations for now.
In this section we're showing the team setup used for the above calculations as well as the damage split for Da Pan based on where it comes from. The setup isn't always best in slot for each character and also please keep in mind that with different team members, Weapons, and Gear, the calculations will change.

A 6-star Greatsword which almost feels like it was designed for Da Pan and is definitely his best option, which performs well above all other alternatives thanks to its optimal combination of passive stats for Da Pan, which go along nicely with its synergistic Weapon Effect that grants him even more of his desired stats when using his Battle Skill or Ultimate. For Da Pan mains, this is definitely a weapon to track down. Its flexible main stat also means it can be used as a stat stick on other characters in the worst-case scenario.
