Great Stellar-Conduct DPS
Some amount of flexibility thanks to Skill giving his special State
Burst costs 80 energy
Very reliant on Odette
Not many supports that match his long field-time requirements
Cyno is a 5-star Electro Polearm character who is most commonly played as an on-field Stellar-Conduct Main DPS. His kit is focused around entering the “Pactsworn Pathclearer” state which infuses his Normal, Charged, and Plunge Attacks with Electro; he also gains a special Elemental Skill, which when timed properly can deal large amounts of direct Stellar-Conduct damage when cast.
Stellar-Conduct replaces the Superconduct reaction when certain characters are on the team. This reaction deals no damage when triggered, instead spawning a Starlight Prism on the ground, converting the surrounding area into a Polestar Field. Being within this field allows characters to activate any “Radiance: Stellar-Conduct” effects in their kit - many of which allow characters to deal direct Stellar-Conduct damage. Additionally the Polestar Field will record and store Electro and Cryo applications, releasing them every 4 seconds in the form of a teamwide Electro and Cryo DMG Bonus buff and a Base Reaction Coefficient for direct Stellar-Conduct damage; these buffs start at 29% and 1.45 at one stack respectively, increasing by 1% and 0.05 for each stack up to a maximum of 40% and 2.
Similar to damaging reactions, direct Stellar-Conduct damage scales with EM and Reaction Damage bonuses, while also ignoring Enemy DEF. It also does not benefit from standard DMG% (e.g. Cryo DMG%, Normal Attack DMG%, etc.). However, unlike typical reaction damage, it can also CRIT, making CRIT stats extremely valuable for Stellar DPS and Sub-DPS characters. Direct Stellar-Conduct damage is considered to be of the element of the unit dealing the damage and is based on the multiplier and scaling stat listed in the Talent description as opposed to the character’s level, with Stellar-Conduct damage additionally being multiplied by the previously mentioned Base Reaction Coefficient.
Cyno’s kit is centred around his “Pactsworn Pathclearer” state; this can be granted by his Elemental Skill for a fixed 6 seconds, or when using his Elemental Burst for a base duration of 10 seconds. While in the state, Cyno gains a special Skill called “Mortuary Rite” with a 4 second cooldown; using it also extends the Pactsworn Pathclearer state from his Burst by 4 seconds each, up to a maximum of 18 seconds.
During the state’s duration, Cyno periodically enters the “Endseer” stance during which a large eye will appear on the screen for a brief period of time. During this period, thanks to Cyno’s Ascension 1 Passive, using Cyno’s special Skill also allows him to fire three “Duststalker Bolts” - with Radiance: Stellar-Conduct, these Bolts are upgraded to deal direct Electro Stellar-Conduct damage. This is where most of his damage comes from, making timing his Skill important; doing so will be referred to in this guide as “getting an Endseer”.
Cyno’s second Ascension Passive increases his damage based on his EM, allowing him to gain some additional value from EM buffs and substats.
Finally, thanks to the “To Temper Thyself and Journey Far” recurring event, Cyno has relatively easy access to his first Constellation. This increases his ATK SPD during Pactsworn Pathclearer by 20%; more importantly, with Radiance: Stellar Conduct, it grants Cyno a sizable 200 Elemental Mastery buff during his state’s duration which serves as a good damage increase. This buff can also be transferred to the next character for the state’s remaining duration if Cyno swaps out early, being especially useful for characters like Odette who have large damage “nukes” that can benefit from the buff’s limited duration.
The following sections will assume Cyno is being played on a Stellar-Conduct team, where his gameplay loop can be summarized as follows,
Setup buffs and consistent Cryo application for Cyno alongside a teammate that enables Stellar-Conduct.
Perform Cyno’s combo, either starting with an Elemental Skill or Elemental Burst.
The notation used to refer to combat inputs in this section will be as follows:
Cyno’s field time is very long, to the point where it is typically optimal to only go for 3 Endseers to fit the rotation within the uptime of the other characters in the party. It’s worth noting while the below combos are optimized for a damage gain, a large portion of his damage can be obtained simply by correctly timing his Mortuary Rite and spamming his Normal Attacks in between thus alleviating the need to follow a fixed combo.
If you do not have his Elemental Burst available, Cyno can use his Elemental Skill to enter the Pactsworn Pathclearer state for a single Endseer so that he can still do some damage in the rotation. It is important to note that the first Endseer always occurs after 6 seconds while subsequent Endseers occur every 4 seconds. This means that repeatedly using his Elemental Skill to enter the Pactsworn Pathclearer state will take more time between Endseers and thus lead to less damage than using his Elemental Burst.

For C6, you want to end the combo with another N1 to get off an extra Duststalker Bolt for a little extra damage without much rotation extension. Extending the rotation to get 4 Endseers is also a viable choice for a highly-invested C6 Cyno.
Disenchantment in Deep ShadowCyno’s only set that realistically works for him, due to providing great stat bonuses and other sets often having difficult to trigger requirements.
Gilded DreamsIf Cyno can trigger a reaction, this set is a passable placeholder; however, this can be very difficult in Cyno’s best teams due to Cyno often running multiple Electro teammates. If he has Staff of Scarlet Sands equipped, Elemental Mastery takes priority over ATK%.

C62.9%Cyno should be paired with a unit who can enable his Radiance: Stellar-Conduct buffs. Currently, Odette is the only synergistic option, with Cryo Traveler and Sandrone forced to play as a quickswap DPS or dead slot. Cyno also needs an off-field Cryo applicant that can keep up with his longer field time.
