Review
Can you give a brief summary about this unit?

Chisato, the first unit of the LycoReco collab, is an auxiliary damage dealer who doesn't perceptibly change the meta but is still a solid unit for Iron Weak Solo Raids, especially with dedicated supports like Ada. She deals True DMG and uses Extrasensory power to buff herself.

In Campaign, Chisato is a niche stage target killer, a sniper, in other words. Without AoE, she can't manage mobs, but she has the highest Single-Target damage under high deficit. You can pair her up with a unit that excels in clearing mobs, and you've got a nice combo. Seems good, right? Well, no, Chisato's lack of range (SMG) stunts her and makes her only viable for Iron-weak Stages or stages where the boss (and its core) is reachable. To add to that, with RRH also being an elemental option, there's no reason to wield an unbuilt Chisato.

In Bossing, Chisato's main strengths are her True DMG and dedicated supports, making her biased toward Raids. Outside Raids, Chisato will only ever be useful against Iron-weak bosses with too much DEF, like Altruia and Ultra Museum (only considering one team's damage). In Raids, thanks to her synergizing very well with Ada and Takina, she can be used in Team 3~5 Iron-weak SR or to double-hit Iron-weak UR. Depending on whether we get future True DMG DPS/Supports, her Raid presence may increase or decrease overtime.

In PvP, Chisato has niche uses, but she's not a mainstay. She definitely can make good use of Invulnerability to block skills that target the highest ATK (if she Bursts first) or redirect them away from critical units. However, as an SMG, she feeds Jackal and doesn't have burst gen. Her DPS is also weak and single target, hence not ideal for PvP, which idolizes AoE. That said, she could be used, in theory, in SpA Attack to neutralize Moran thanks to elemental advantage.

Should I pull or mileage this unit?

Chisato is not that important, but being a collab unit and a formidable Raid unit, you should consider getting her because she’s limited (and may be relevant in the future). Therefore:

  • If you are a veteran, yes, get at least one copy because, at endgame, your PvE content is mostly Solo Raid. This is even more true if you focus on Iron-weak.

  • If you are a beginner, you can skip because she is not that meta, but you can also pull since she likely won't rerun. If you lack RRH, RH, Raven, and Eve, she can help you with your Iron-weak bosses till you get better units, many of which are rare or unobtainable.

  • If you like LycoReco or are a collector, feel free to get one.

She is only worth mileage if you don't want to miss them, but you should be aware that using them for 2% pull-rate chars is less ideal.

Should I get dupes?

Chisato does scale on dupes because she has an ATK buff. If you use her in Campaign, they also help with CP padding. However, her being mostly a Raid-only unit limits the received value.

Do note that you cannot obtain any more dupes after the collab ends because she is limited!

Kit Analysis
Skill 1

■ Activates at the start of battle. Affects self.

Charges Extrasensory to 100% continuously, up to 100%. This effect cannot be dispelled.

■ Activates while in Extrasensory status. Affects self.

Only when above 70%: ATK ▲ 53.59% continuously. This effect cannot be dispelled.

Only when above 55%: True Damage ▲ 48.62% continuously. This effect cannot be dispelled.

Only when above 25%: Hit Rate ▲ 22.37% continuously. This effect cannot be dispelled.

■ Affects self every 2 sec.

Extrasensory ▼ 1%.

Chisato uses her power of Extrasensory (undispellable) to strengthen herself. At the start of the battle and every time she uses Burst Skill, Extrasensory is refilled to 100. Various buffs are unlocked as Extrasensory's value changes and drains -1 every 2 secs:

  • Invulnerability: Chisato becomes immune to any damage for 2 secs at the start of the battle or every time she uses Burst Skill. This limits Chisato as an on-burst DPS, removing any possibility of her being used as an off-burst unit.

    • Good in PvP for blocking instant attacks like SGs or skills that target highest ATK like HelmTr's. Be careful, by definition, this Invulnerability (not Extrasensory) can be dispelled, although it is practically impossible to happen.

    • In PvE, this can block key boss's attacks/force through lethal attacks (such as failed Elemental QTEs; not sure why you want to do that).

    • She can also block mobs' attacks despite RNG. Attacks from Needles, Bullwhips, and so on can be nullified.

  • ATK▲ & True DMG▲: As long as Extrasensory is above 70, Chisato gains massive self buffs.

    • Since these are permanent, you want them up as much as possible by Bursting with Chisato, which guarantees their uptime.

    • ATK is good for Campaign for offsetting stat penalty and works wonders with True DMG.

    • Makes Chisato easier to get buffs that target the highest ATK, such as Maxwell’s.

  • Hit Rate▲: As long as Extrasensory is above 25%, Chisato gains Hit Rate, which improves accuracy against far enemies and cores. More noticeable on thin bosses and Campaign.

Skill 2

■ Activates when using Burst Skill. Affects self.

Normal attacks deal true damage for 10 sec.

■ Activates after landing 48 normal attack(s). Affects the target.

Deals 472.18% of final ATK as true damage.

Chisato deals extra True DMG to the target of the 48th shot after landing 48 shots. Her fire rate with MFRA (Min. Firing Round Adjustment) turned on is 24/s, so this triggers once per 2 secs.

  • The damage coefficient is similar to basic attack's if she doesn't core-hit. Basic attacks have 240%/s, whereas S2 has 235%/s. To remind you, her basic attacks have 250% core damage as opposed to the usual 200%.

Chisato also deals True DMG with basic attacks for 10s after using Burst Skill.

  • Lines up with Burst Skill's buff. Great!

  • Basic attacks only deal True DMG if she Bursts, unlike S2, which always deals True DMG.

  • Unlike S2, which is Skill Damage and cannot hit parts, her basic attacks can chip parts. Hence, if timing is possible without sabotaging damage, activate Burst Skill when parts exist to ensure she can destroy them.

Burst Skill

■ Affects self.

Charges Extrasensory to 100%.

ATK ▲ 73.16% for 10 sec.

Chisato buffs herself massively, recharging Extrasensory to 100% and gaining an ATK buff.

  • Triggers Extrasensory's effect immediately, especially Invulnerability.

    • Proper timing can block skills that target the highest ATK in PvP, such as HelmTr's.

  • ATK makes her buff unbalanced, tilted toward ATK. When building her team in SR, prioritize ATK DMG-category such as True DMG, or Damage Taken debuff on enemy.

Tier List & Usage Analysis
Campaign: S

On paper, Chisato is good at Mobbing. High True DMG proportion alongside lots of ATK buffs, but in reality, she doesn't work as expected. Why?

  • Short Weapon Range: Chisato wields an SMG, which only gains effective range bonus against enemies in close range. Most mobs, including the Stage Target, are far away, making hitting them (and their core) painful. What is the use of 250% Core Damage if she misses everything? This can be partially fixed through Hit Rate OL, but she’s still unwieldy.

  • No AoE: Campaign has been selling AoE units more than Single Target because overcoming the mob waves is needed to reach the Stage Target. Then, after that, Single Target becomes useful. So, it's a combination of both. For that reason, VestiTU + Ada/RRH pair nicely. Therefore, Chisato's lack of AoE doesn't make her worse but less impactful than AoE ones. That said, due to her weakness in the previous point, she is not particularly good at shutting down Stage Targets.

Despite these, Chisato possesses the highest Single Target DPS under deficit, which means she is usable, but you must be experienced to utilize her. If any, she is probably only going to matter in Iron-weak stages for late-game players. In fact, as of her release, Chisato is actually the BiS B3 for Altruia, Ch. 44’s boss, which has DEF mechanics, similar to Mirror Container. For beginners without RRH, RH, or BMilk (who are either rare or require ridiculously high investments [beginners should avoid High Investment units]), she can be a useful alternative still against Iron-weak mobs.

A special mention goes to her Invulnerability that might come clutch in certain situations, such as surviving lethal one-shots like Kamikazes, Needles, Volleyballs, Bullwhips, etc. You still have to time it and RNG they hit her, though.

Bossing: A

Chisato’s base damage when True Damage is not utilized is not that high. Compared to Raven, who is already below RRH in most cases, she is 20-30% weaker. Her DPS is similar to Eve, but Eve offers more than just damage. She applies Damage Taken, which boosts everyone. This makes Chisato relatively less valuable than those 4 units, but how about RH & BMilk?

Red Hood’s damage is similar to Chisato but rises when enemy sports clustered parts or concealed parts that allow for multi hits. She also excels against enemies at long range (SR’s effective range). However, her biggest asset is her burst gen. Some Iron-weak comps in UR just don’t have burst gen, and your only ideal options are: Siren, HelmTr, and Red Hood. You can use Liberalio and SWHA, but they provide less impact and should ideally not be removed from other elements/comps (unless you are sure you’re not attacking those elements they’re BiS in). Meanwhile, BMilk has higher damage than Red Hood in a vacuum, but her sophisticated mechanics make burst gen-ning with her more annoying. She is also less scalable, having a higher buff total from herself. Hence, BMilk is only used in Raid, where we can build a team around her, usually with Damage Taken debuffs.

Chisato, on the other hand, shines against bosses with high DEF or are at close range. We have seen her going wild against Ultra Museum, rivaling RH & RRH, and holding the lowest CP clear record for Chapter 44’s boss Altruia. However, since True DMG is somewhat niche, we cannot be sure how she fares in the future. She does have dedicated supports like Ada & Takina, who boost her feasibility in Raid, but it can be long or short before she gets replaced. For now, while Chisato is not a key unit for regular Iron-weak Bossing, she is vital for Iron-weak SR, even if the boss doesn’t favor True DMG (because we need multiple DPS & supports and because True DMG doesn’t contest universal supports as much).

PvP: B

Chisato has niche uses in PvP, but her Burst is lackluster. Let's discuss why:

  • PvP Idolizes AoE: The meta for PvP is either Nukes or Snipes. Nukes refer to AoE attacks that potentially wipe an entire team, whereas Snipes are attacks that steal/assassinate 1 or more key target(s). Frontal attacks like Chisato's Burst have uses but are not meta. They cannot be used for Defense but still can be used for Attack situationally. If you face a Moran P1 without sufficient protection, a Chisato (with Blanc) can whittle her down quickly with True DMG & Elemental Advantage.

  • No Burst Gen: Chisato doesn't have burst gen because she is an SMG, and she also feeds Jackal and may die to Scarlet's counter (if not Invulnerable). This is self-explanatory.

The advantages that Chisato have that contribute to her niche uses are:

  • Invulnerability: For 2 seconds at the start of battle and 2 seconds after she Bursts, she gains Invulnerability. You can use this to block lethal attacks, such as HelmTr's, or SGs' instant P1/P5 attacks. Think of her as a Makima/Nayuta cope; much shorter but long enough. She can also survive Nukes (her team might not), which can make for some interesting counter comps. Perhaps she can use Ada's buff and lifesteal to become "immortal"?

  • Highest ATK + Attacker Class: Chisato is an Attacker who gains an undispellable instant high ATK buff upon entering battle. This makes her a target of Rosanna's dispel and all skills targeting the highest ATK. Use this feature, whether in tandem with Invulnerability or not, to protect your key units.

With that said, Chisato is just a niche counter unit for Attack, which only deserves at most B-A tier in our new TL. We decided on B because she is not as impactful nor flexible as A.

Investments
Gear Investments

As a mainly elemental Raid unit, Chisato wants first and foremost ELE. ATK is still useful, but since she already has a lot of ATK, it's a lesser priority. Next, she wants Max Ammo. Ideally, you get 2~3 to make sure she can keep firing throughout an entire Full Burst. The final lines can be Hit Rate to help her reach farther enemies/cores better or CRT to slightly boost damage.

Skill Investments

Chisato's True DMG is mostly from S2, and since S2 contains her coefficients, it is the most important. Then, upgrade both S1 and Burst. S1 is more important, but both should be leveled evenly.

  • Skill 1: 7~10

    • Increases Chisato's permanent buff value.

  • Skill 2: 10

    • Boosts coefficient of True Skill DMG.

  • Burst Skill: 7~10

    • Boosts ATK value during her Burst.

Cube Investments

Chisato will always be able to make good use of Resilience and Bastion, but their value will drop once Reload Speed exceeds 100% (diminishing return) or when she has a lot of Ammo. Whilst Chisato is unlikely going to be used with 2 Reload Speed buffers, it is important to keep in mind.

A cube that doesn't have such a profound diminishing return is the new True DMG Cube. Chisato doesn't have a lot of ATK DMG-category buffs, so boosting her True DMG will leave a noticeable impact. True DMG still gets diluted with more ATK DMG, but it's not like Reload Speed, which hits brickwall at 110%.

Destruction can be better than True DMG if Chisato consistently hits parts. This is because half of her damage is from basic attacks, and Destruction is twice stronger. On the other hand, True DMG has half its value, and since it doesn't affect Chisato's off-rotation's BA damage, it's slightly less potent.

Do note that, while cube selections are important, their levels are also too. If the level difference is too far, opt for the higher level as the ELE stat will overtake.

Doll Investments

If you use Chisato in Raid, SR 5 is a given seeing her high ATK buff. You can go SR 15 if you want. If you use her in Campaign, which you likely won't, then SR 15 is mandatory for offsetting deficit and CP padding. Stat + Damage Reduction are also important in PvP to guarantee a successful Moran kill.

Review
Pros

  • Has True DMG, making her good under deficit and against bosses with high DEF. BiS against Altruia Campaign and in Museum.

  • Deals extra damage to close-range enemies, which is first for Iron DPS (we don’t count BSoda).

  • True DMG allows for dedicated supports such as Ada & Takina, increasing viability in Raids as they contest universal supports less.

  • 250% Core Damage.

  • Interesting self-invulnerability mechanics which may come in handy in some situations.

  • ATK buffs are undispellable in PvP and can be used to redirect highest ATK skills.

  • Burst unleashes a powerful frontal attack in PvP that can be used to crush unprotected Electric tanks, especially when assisted by Blanc & Ada.

Cons

  • Her damage is from “overloading buffs” and not “high multipliers”, which means she scales less efficiently than most other units, but it’s still fine.

  • Despite viability in Raid, her base damage if True DMG is not utilized is quite low, and she offers no team buff, making her inferior to other choices in most content outside Raid.

  • True Damage is a niche that’s not needed everywhere.

  • SMG has one biggest flaw: They can barely hit anything far. Since all her damage is from landing shots, you should try to land as much as possible, but that’s not possible all the time.

  • This makes her cumbersome to use in Campaign under deficit despite good paper math.

  • No AoE reduces “perceived value” for Mobbing. While ST DPS complements AoE DPS and is nevertheless important, AoE DPS is still more valuable.

  • We wish her Invulnerability were slightly longer, so she could block Rosanna’s wipe in PvP, but we guess we are asking too much…

  • Limited; may not rerun. Careful when planning for dupes.

  • We ran out of jokes.

Investment Tips

Skill Investment

Here's the explanation for all the numbers and colors used in the guide:

  • 10/5/7 means upgrading Skill 1 to lvl 10, Skill 2 to lvl 5, and Burst Skill to lvl 7,
  • Yellow means the immediate investment when u get the unit. There are 3 reasons for this:
    • If the unit is Meta or High Priority, it will have a starting investment of more than 1/1/1 (such as 4/4/4) depending on what the unit provides.
    • If the unit is Medium or Low Priority, 1/1/1 will be mentioned, meaning no immediate investment is required, and you can invest in this character if you need to use it according to the priority listed.
    • If we deem that a unit does not have usable skills to be meta for any gamemode, no investment will be mentioned.
  • Blue means minimum investment to take advantage of the Nikke's skills. There are 2 reasons for this:
    • Sometimes, minimum investments are breakpoints such as for Noir or SAnis.
    • Sometimes, minimum investments are just the ideal way to progress to upgrade that unit, before moving on to Recommended and High.
  • Red means recommended investment for F2P players,
  • Purple means maximum recommended investment, in order to get the best out of the unit. You should only try to reach these investments if you have a surplus of Skill Books leftover.

More info:

  • The skill investment list below features a lot of Level 4 and 7 because they are easier to understand. Any higher levels will cost a new type of resource.
  • However, you may choose to upgrade to Level 5 if you need a stronger effect instead of 4, as the increase in Blue Manual cost from Level 4 to 5 is still low. The leap only starts from Level 6 onward.
  • There is also a leap from Level 3 to 4, so if you want to save a tiny bit of Blue Manuals, then leave at 3 instead of 4.
Gear Investment

This Overload (OL) Recommendations and Priority guide unravels in detail everything you need about a character in terms of priority, overload targets (effects), and order of acquisition, alongside some notes to explain our thinking process.

For OL targets and order of acquisition, we decided to divide the target effects into several categories.

  • Essential: With all gear combined, your unit must have the roll(s) prescribed as a minimum requirement. Example: Charge Speed on Alice. You cannot compromise on these rolls.
  • Ideal: These rolls will improve your unit's performance significantly. Aim for 2 lines of Essential/Ideal per gear for maximum performance and the best Return on Investment (ROI). If you get 3, you are lucky. You can choose to only have 1 as well to save materials. Example: Elemental Damage on Scarlet.
  • Passable: Low-priority line that has either limited value or the impact is not as strong as other rolls. Should this show up as a bonus together with a better line, you can choose to keep them. Example: Charge Speed on Red Hood.

Overload effects are ordered by importance from Left to Right, which means anything on the left provides more value than the right. Effects that belong to the same group generate too similar an impact to make a difference (and are sometimes interchangeable). Try to follow this order as faithfully as possible for maximum mileage.

Additional tips:

  • Priority (PvE/PvP) isn't necessarily lower than Priority (Universal), which has no tag/label. It just indicates that this unit performs only in select types of content.
  • If a suggested effect has the number ×2 next to it, that means you should get the effect on at least 2 gear. The same idea applies to other numbers.
  • Focus on obtaining Essential(s) then you can start worrying about optimizing your rolls. Units require these to function, and the impact is too massive to ignore.
  • If a unit has no Essential(s), that means their performance is not that dependent on OL, but they can still benefit from good effects.
  • Remember that this is just a recommendation list, and attaining perfection is impossible. You will have to make some compromise, pick whichever rolls you desire the most, and conserve as much material as possible.

So Much True Damage

Mode: Union / Solo Raids || Element: Iron

Characters
Moran (Treasure)
Takina Inoue
Chisato Nishikigi
Laplace (Treasure)
Frima (Treasure)
About the team

This team features 1 big spec: True DMG. Everyone except Moran in this team deals True Damage, and Frima+Takina will provide up to 230% True Damage buff, enough to make this team viable to a certain level. Still, by using this team, you agree that Moran won't be the one using Burst (aka CDR Totem). If your Moran Treasure is Phase 3, don't waste her like this, replace her with other subs or just replace Frima's Treasure.

Substitutions

Moran Treasure Phase 3 can be replaced by either D:Killer Wife or Rouge. Even Volume is fine.
Frima Treasure can be replaced by Ada Wong, but we assume you have Ada and boss doesn't require you to heal constantly (Frima Treasure heals a lot).

Campaign Coper

Mode: Campaign || Element: All

Characters
Little Mermaid (Siren)
Crown
Vesti: Tactical Upgrade
Chisato Nishikigi
Ada Wong
About the team

Just as we said in the review, Chisato can be used as a stage target sniper, assuming you can hit it. With around 40% Hit Rate (2 OL lines on average), she will have spread as small as normal AR, so you should be fine hitting mid to far enemies.

Substitutions

Siren can be replaced by Moran (Treasure) or Rapi: Red Hood.

Iron-weak Solo Raid True DMG Team Idea I

Mode: Union / Solo Raids || Element: Iron

Characters
Liter
Takina Inoue
Chisato Nishikigi
Laplace (Treasure)
Ada Wong
About the team

A reasonable team idea for Iron-weak Solo Raid. In this team, we feature both Laplace Treasure and Ada Wong, which means this team is a 2 True DMG B3 Hypercarry comp. Ada Wong provides healing to B3 and buffs the B3 vigorously.

Substitutions

Liter can be replaced by Moran for increased survivability.

Team 374

Iron-weak Solo Raid True DMG Team Idea II

Mode: Union / Solo Raids || Element: Iron

Characters
Liter
Takina Inoue
Chisato Nishikigi
Maxwell
Privaty (Treasure)
About the team

A reasonable team idea for Iron-weak Solo Raid. In this team, we feature both DPS Takina and Chisato as hypercarries. Maxwell and PrivatyTr provide the necessary buffs for them to perform.

Substitutions

Maxwell and PrivatyTr can be replaced by other buffers/debuffers. ATK is preferred due to how much True Damage Takina can provide (despite downtime). Plus, Takina has no ATK buff.
Liter can be replaced by Moran for increased survivability.

Iron-weak Solo Raid True DMG Team Idea III

Mode: Union / Solo Raids || Element: Iron

Characters
Moran (Treasure)
Takina Inoue
Chisato Nishikigi
Diesel: Winter Sweets
Ada Wong
About the team

A reasonable team idea for Iron-weak Solo Raid. In this team, we feature 3 DPS, but the primary focuses are Chisato & Takina. XDiesel here serves as a debuffer who can make good use of Ada Wong, who also synergizes well with Chisato.

Substitutions

Moran can be replaced by Liter.

About the team

This team adopts the same idea but uses Takina as off-burst. Takina as off-burst only loses personal DPS (and a small Damage Taken), so using the Burst of another B2 doesn't seem like a bad idea, even more the case if your Takina isn't DPS-built.
