High Energy refunding

Content requiring AoE is generally trivial and rare
DPS role is locked to a premium team
Venti is a 5-star Anemo Bow character renowned for his powerful Crowd Control, and functions as either an off-field support or an on-field DPS character, with his DPS role allowing for both a traditional CRIT playstyle and a Driver playstyle. Regardless of his chosen role, he provides the team with damage, Resistance shred, and Energy refunding. Furthermore, as a Hexerei unit he can enable other Hexerei units to fully unlock their kit.
His Elemental Skill has two variants depending on how you use it, tapping or holding:
The Tap Variant summons a Wind Domain below the enemy to deal AoE Anemo DMG, launching lighter enemies into the air. It has a quick cast time, solid multipliers, and generates 3 Energy particles.
The Hold Variant instead centers a larger Wind Domain around himself, launching him into the air and generating 4 Energy particles. This Hold cast is rarely optimal in standard combat rotations, and serves mostly as a means to reach higher areas for specific fight mechanics. His 1st Ascension Passive causes the Hold Skill to also create a long lasting upcurrent enabling consistent Plunges, but again it’s largely useless.
Venti’s iconic Elemental Burst then creates a Stormeye with a massive pulling radius for lighter enemies, dealing 20 instances of Anemo DMG over its base 8 second duration. If the Stormeye comes into contact with Pyro, Hydro, Electro, or Cryo (this is also the absorption priority order), it will then deal additional damage over time of the absorbed element, starting 1 second after the element has been absorbed.
And while his Normal Attacks naturally deal Physical damage, his unique Hexerei mechanic alters them during his Elemental Burst’s duration; while the Stormeye is present, Venti’s Normal Attacks will be converted into Anemo DMG Windsunder Arrows which pierce enemies and deal substantially more damage. Landing these infused attacks also increases the Burst’s duration by 1 second whilst also decreasing its cooldown by 0.5s, up to 2 times, extending the Burst’s duration to 10 seconds and 25 total instances of DMG.
Now even if you can’t make use of his Burst’s grouping, Venti retains useful utility for the team; with his fourth Ascension Passive, upon the Burst’s expiration (8 seconds, even if you have extended it to 10 through Windsunder Arrows), Venti will now regenerate 15 Energy for himself and any party members matching the Burst’s absorbed element. This cements him as a potent team battery on top of the rest of his kit. And to continue on this topic, Venti’s Hexerei Passive significantly amplifies team damage. During the Burst’s duration, if the active character triggers a Swirl, said character will receive a 50% Generic DMG buff. This additionally increases the output of Venti’s Burst to 135% of its original damage.

Characters part of the Hexerei faction, after completing their Witch’s Rite Story Quest, unlock special Passive abilities in combat. These are activated when there are 2 Hexerei characters on the team, with Venti themselves counting as one.
Sub DPS: In non-Hexerei teams, Venti’s gameplay loop is quite straightforward: simply cast his Elemental Skill and Burst, then swap off-field. In Hexerei teams, however, you should weave in a single Normal Attack after casting his Burst to trigger the extension through his Hexerei passive. It’s important to perform this N1 quickly to avoid stretching your team’s rotation too long and resulting in a DPS loss rather than a gain.
Main DPS: Venti requires roughly 12 seconds of field time as a Main DPS. You initiate combat with a Skill and Burst, and then continue with his Normal Attack strings. His N5 should be cancelled with a Dash or a Skill when available to avoid its animation (N5d or N5E).
The notation used to refer to combat inputs in this section will be as follows:
EQ N5D N5E N5D N2
Venti's Standard DPS combo that animation cancels his initial Skill thanks to his Burst and then utilizes Dash and Skill cancels on his Normal Attacks.
Venti can Short Hold his Skill which results in a much faster cast time, even if followed up by his Elemental Burst. If using him as a DPS, weaving a Short Hold Skill into the middle of his on-field time can speed up his subsequent attacks.
Venti’s Normal Attacks can be drastically shortened by performing RR Cancels by tapping the Aimed Shot mode repeatedly to cancel his Normal Attack animations. An example combo using RR Cancels is N2RR.
Viridescent Venerer100%Support - TeamBy far the best choice for Anemo Supports for its gigantic RES Shred provided the team’s primary damage source is an Element that can be Swirled - in other words, Pyro, Electro, Cryo, or Hydro. For Main DPS Venti aim for an ATK% Sands, and Energy Recharge or Elemental Mastery will be the choice for Support Venti players depending on if you can hit your requirements through substats or not.
Anemo DMG% and ATK% are the two options for a Main DPS Venti depending on buff saturation in your team. Elemental Mastery would be used in Support builds.
CRIT Circlet is used for Main DPS, Elemental Mastery for Support.
