Circle Impact
Aino is a 4-star Hydro Claymore user who is most commonly played as a Support for Lunar teams, offering good Hydro application and buffs with Constellations. As a Moonsign unit, he also features important synergies with other characters in the faction.
Her kit is remarkably simple: her Burst is her primary ability, and using it creates a “Cool Your Jets Ducky” for 14 seconds that periodically fires “Water Balls” at the enemy. By default, these fire every 1.5 seconds and apply Hydro every other hit; however, with Ascendent Gleam, her first Ascension Passive enhances these Water Balls to fire twice as quickly and hit with a larger AoE. This being said, she still generally only applies Hydro every third hit or once every 2.25 seconds due to internal cooldown rules on elemental application. With a cooldown of only 13.5 seconds, it is possible - albeit typically unnecessary - to maintain full uptime on her Burst.
While her second Ascension Passive endeavors to increase Aino’s damage by offering Elemental Mastery scaling to her Burst, her damage is negligible.
Aino’s Skill is similarly basic, causing her to dash towards the enemy when Tapped and deal two attacks with the first hit applying Hydro. The Skill is primarily used for its energy generation; thanks to Aino’s low Burst cost of 50 and freedom to build Energy Recharge, she is generally self-sufficient when it comes to energy. The Hold variant of the Skill allows to aim her Skill’s launch and is typically only used for exploration.
Rounding things out Aino’s base kit are her Normal and Charged Attacks, which are lackluster and only used if required to trigger weapon effects.
As a 4-star, her Constellations are relatively accessible - and in Aino’s case, provide useful additional utility to her core role. C1 allows her to provide 80 Elemental Mastery to herself and the active character with her Burst, while C2 improves her Hydro application by allowing her to fire an off-field attack with the active character that deals Hydro damage every 5 seconds; C4 then further reduces her already negligible ER Requirements. Her C6 caps things off by allowing her to provide an effectively unconditional 35 Reaction DMG% to Lunar Reactions after using her Burst, since any team with Aino and a Lunar reaction enabler has Ascendent Gleam regardless.

Moonsign characters increase the Moonsign level of the party by a stage; at level 1, this grants the Nascent Gleam effect. This has almost no benefits of its own, and is mostly relevant for the incomplete effect of certain character, weapon, and artifact passives.
At level 2 and above, however, it grants Ascendant Gleam – unlocking the full effect of the above passives, alongside allowing non-Moonsign units to increase Lunar Reaction DMG% by up to 36% when using their Skill or Burst. This is based on their stats, which varies by element as follows:
All 5-star Moonsign units can additionally enable the use of and buff the Base Damage (separate from Reaction DMG%) of their corresponding Lunar Reaction. For example, Zibai adds 1 Moonsign level while activating and buffing Lunar-Crystallize, while Illuga just adds 1 Moonsign level to the team.

QE
Can be used to funnel Aino’s energy to an ally due to her fairly easy to meet ER Requirements, while potentially allowing for improved uptime on certain artifact sets like Instructor’s.
Favonius GreatswordR1Generally her BiS since it provides Energy for both her and the team. Since Aino doesn’t want any particular stat except ER, it’s easy to build enough Crit Rate to trigger the effect.
Makhaira AquamarineR1Can be used if Favonius Greatsword’s Energy is superfluous and when paired with ATK-scaling teammates; it requires Aino to build some Elemental Mastery to maximize its value, but requires no management otherwise.
Flame-Forged InsightR5Its massive 24 Energy refund further trivializes Aino’s Burst cost, and so can prove more comfortable than Favonius Greatsword if the team energy is not required.
Silken Moon's SerenadeHer best general option, with the 2-Piece effect also helping with ER Requirements.
Noblesse ObligeAlternative in Flins team without Ineffa, where the second Electro, usually Fischl, prefers to use Silken Moon’s Serenade.
InstructorAnother alternative if there is already another Silken Moon’s Serenade holder in the team.
Deepwood MemoriesAlternative in Nefer team, albeit she is typically a suboptimal holder for the set.Elemental Mastery is only noticeable if Aino is using Makhaira Aquamarine; otherwise, the goblet with highest CRIT Rate (for Favonius) and Energy Recharge substats should be prioritized.
CRIT Rate is used for Favonius Greatsword, while Elemental Mastery is used for Makhaira Aquamarine.

C637.6%Aino typically wants a Lunar hypercarry to support; while she can also enable Moonsign for the Sub-DPS characters they tend to be both less reliant on it, and Aino’s lack of personal damage means the team is more reliant on a strong carry to compensate.
Relative team damage chart. Best listed team is treated as 100%.
Aino’s kit is built for supporting Lunar DPS characters; Flins, Nefer, and Zibai are the three units that clearly fulfil this niche, backed up by their respective Sub-DPS or support of Ineffa, Lauma, and Linnea or Illuga respectively. Columbina is a 25 - 55% DPS increase over C6 Aino depending on the team.
