Chasca is a 5-star Anemo Bow character who is most commonly played as an on-field DPS. Her gameplay consists of using her Charged Attack to load “shells” during her Skill state, which can take on the Element of one of her allies; she then fires them in volleys of up to 6 to deal damage. As a Nightsoul character, she has access to and utilizes Nightsoul mechanics.
Chasca’s Nightsoul state is tied to her Skill, allowing her to become airborne while modifying her Normal and Charged Attacks. The latter ability defines the bulk of her gameplay: Holding the Normal Attack input allows Chasca to “load” up to 6 shells, which are then fired in a single volley that hit in reverse order - in other words, the 6th shell that shows up on the interface while loading will hit the enemy first. By default, these deal weak Anemo damage; however, the 4th, 5th, and 6th shell will change to match the type of each Pyro, Hydro, Electro, or Cryo (PHEC for short) teammate in a random order and gain significantly increased multipliers.
This incentivizes running 3 PHEC characters and - when this is done - allows Chasca’s 6th, 4th, and 2nd shells to all apply their elements. When keeping in mind her firing order, this means the first and third shells to hit the enemy will apply the element of one of her allies, while the fifth shell will apply Anemo. Her 3rd shell, which is the fourth one to hit the enemy, is a bit of an oddity: her first Ascension Passive gives a chance for this shell to also be converted to an ally’s element, with the probability increasing by 33.3% for each unique PHEC element on the party. The Passive also offers a 15%/35%/65% DMG Bonus buff for each unique element; while these bonuses are nice, it typically does not control teambuilding decisions over using synergistic teammates.
Chasca can move freely during her Charged Attack. This becomes especially relevant when facing multiple enemies, as Chasca’s shells are split evenly among them; to ensure they only hit one target, she can move and angle her view so only one target is seen on screen. As a final note, Chasca’s Nightsoul’s Blessing lasts long enough to fire 4 full volleys of shells, alongside optionally an incomplete 5th volley at the end - it can also be ended prematurely with a Plunging Attack by Holding her Skill.
Chasca’s fourth Ascension Passive allows her to fire a shell whenever a Nightsoul Burst is triggered, even if off-field; this shell is converted to a random PHEC element from one of Chasca’s allies and deals increased damage when converted. However, they are still relatively weak - and worse, due to applying an element, they can disrupt effects that require the user to trigger a reaction such as Scroll of the Hero of Cinder City’s set bonus.
Her Burst fires 7 slightly stronger shells at the enemy, with each PHEC ally converting 2 shells to their element and doubling their damage. While it can deal good damage, Chasca’s Burst is relatively unimportant to her rotations.
Last and certainly least, Chasca’s standard Normal and Charged Attacks - or her Nightsoul’s Blessing Normal Attack - are lackluster and almost never used.

Nightsoul is a mechanic involving Natlanese characters with two distinct components: “Nightsoul Blessing” and “Nightsoul Burst”. Nightsoul Blessing is a state allowing for the generation and/or consumption of Nightsoul points, with many Natlan character kits revolving around triggering effects based on this in some way.
Nightsoul Bursts, on the other hand, is an effect triggered whenever dealing Elemental damage while a Natlanese character is in the party, with the cooldown on its trigger decreasing from 18 to 12 to the minimum of 9 for each Natlanese character present; note that Pyro Traveler is not considered to be Natlanese despite access to Nightsoul mechanics. While having no effect on its own, many character abilities and some artifact set effects only activate when a Nightsoul Burst is triggered, often granting bonuses which can vary in usefulness but are rarely tied to core functionality.
In most of her teams, Chasca uses her Skill, followed by 4 sets of Charged Attacks with 6 shells followed by an incomplete volley on her 5th Charged Attack.
Chasca can lower the firing time of her Charged Attack by quickly releasing the Normal Attack input immediately as a shell is about to be loaded then quickly holding it again to start the next Charged Attack. However, since Chasca automatically fires her shells when reaching 6 or when her Nightsoul’s Blessing is about to end, the Normal Attack button can simply be held down for most of the entire field time at the minor expense of missing 2 additional shells on her final Charged Attack.
In a similar vein, Chasca can hold the attack button after an extremely brief delay after using her Skill; this reduces the height she flies up to, and allows her to start her Charged Attack quicker. Holding down too quickly can cause her to use her Plunging Attack instead, but the margin of error to get it right is quite forgiving.
Another tech that can be useful - especially if doing the above - is Chasca’s ability to gain height against certain enemies in order to avoid their attacks without interrupting her own. To do this, a directional input is given so that Chasca is “moving into” the enemy’s hitbox, which can push her up. While not always useful due to depending both on enemy attack patterns and enemy hitboxes, it can make running sustainless or shieldless Chasca extremely trivial when it is.
Generally, Chasca’s Burst is used in place of the incomplete volley of 4 shells at the end of her Nightsoul’s state so that it can benefit from buffs like 4 Obsidian Codex. However, with Nicole, it can be advisable to use her Charged Attack before Chasca’s Skill in order to benefit from Nicole’s improved ATK buff on all of Chasca’s Charged Attacks.
The notation used to refer to combat inputs in this section will be as follows:
E C(6 6 6 6) C(4) / Q if available
Chasca uses the Short Hold technique discussed above to reduce her animation time, or only fires a C(2) for her final Charged Attack.
Q if available E C(6 6 6 6 4)
Chasca uses the Short Hold technique discussed above to reduce her animation time, or only fires a C(2) for her final Charged Attack.
E C(2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2) C(2) / Q if available
The C2 combo maximizes the AoE shells fired from the Constellation and can prove superior to her standard combo if multiple enemies are present.
Q if available E C(2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2)
The C2 combo maximizes the AoE shells fired from the Constellation and can prove superior to her standard combo if multiple enemies are present.
E C(2 C6 4 4 C6 4 4 C6 4 4 C6)
Chasca’s C6 combos maximize the value of the Constellations buff on her Charged Attacks and also accommodates for the increased loading speed.
E C(2 C6 2 6 C6 2 6 C6 2 6 C6)
Chasca’s C6 combos maximize the value of the Constellations buff on her Charged Attacks and also accommodates for the increased loading speed.

Obsidian CodexChasca’s BiS for personal damage in all situations, offering her 15 DMG% and an obscene 40% CRIT Rate.
Viridescent VenererWhile typically worse than Obsidian Codex, it can be competitive in Lunar-Charged teams and even pull ahead in Stellar Glimmer teams.
Marechaussee HunterViable only with Furina, and a direct Obsidian Codex downgrade.ATK% Goblet is generally her best option and always a competitive pick; DMG% Goblets matching the element of at least 2 allies can situationally prove similar. Elemental Mastery Goblets can prove superior at higher Constellations on teams where Chasca can trigger Vaporize or Melt.

C64.6%Chasca should run 3 PHEC teammates, with at least one - if not all - of them being of different elements. She can focus on dealing consistent raw damage by bringing strong buffers or off-field DPSes; alternatively, she can try and take advantage of Amplifying reactions by bringing some combination of Pyro, Hydro, or Cryo allies. However, since the order in which her final 3 bullets that match ally elements are loaded randomly, these teams can fluctuate between high highs and low lows.

Nicole and Durin are some of Chasca’s best teammates even in a vacuum, with their combined synergy and activating Hexerei Resonance being the cherry on top. The Iansan can then be used for her raw buff volume, Fischl can take advantage of Hexerei Resonance to be a solid substitute, and Citlali can enable Amplifying reactions.

ChascaThanks to their off-field damage, Columbina and Ineffa form an excellent core to help Chasca clear content - particularly in Lunar shills. Since Chasca’s own damage in these teams is not the highest, Viridescent Venerer can potentially prove better depending on relative investment and buffs for the Lunar units.
