Columbina is a 5-star Hydro Catalyst user who is most commonly played as a sub-DPS and support, though she is also capable of taking a main DPS role. Her kit is centred around Lunar Reactions, buffing them and dealing damage based off them in various ways. As a Moonsign unit, she also features important synergies with other characters in the faction.
When Columbina is on the team Bloom, Electro-Charged, and Crystallize are replaced by their respective Lunar variants when triggered. Lunar-Charged spawns a thundercloud which deals Lunar-Charged reaction damage every 2 seconds, while Lunar-Crystallize spawns a Geo Construct called “Moondrifts” that activate the effects of a team’s Geo Resonance; when triggered thrice, it causes “Moondrift Harmony” and deals Lunar-Crystallize reaction damage. Lunar-Bloom is a bit of an oddity - for the most part, it functions just like Bloom, spawning in a completely identical Dendro Core. The only difference is Lunar-Bloom also accumulates Verdant Dew, which is a resource shared between the team; it can be generated every 2.5 seconds and stack up to 3 times. This can be consumed by certain characters to deal direct Lunar-Bloom damage. Similarly, when conditions are met, certain characters can also deal direct Lunar-Charged or Lunar-Crystallize damage.
All Lunar damage is considered damage of the non-Hydro element involved to trigger it; similar to other damaging reactions it scales with EM, reaction damage bonuses, ignores DEF, and does not benefit from standard DMG% — unlike typical reactions, it can also CRIT. Reaction Lunar damage takes into account the level and stats of all characters who contributed to triggering reaction based on their damage dealt to the enemy - 100% of the stats of the strongest participant, then 50% and 8% for second and third respectively. Direct Lunar damage is based on the multiplier and the scaling stat listed in the ability instead of level, though direct Lunar-Crystallize and Lunar-Charged additionally enjoy hidden multipliers of 1.6x and 3x respectively.
Columbina’s Moonsign Passive is responsible for allowing these reactions to be triggered, while also increasing the team’s Moonsign level by 1. It also increases Lunar Reaction Base DMG - a separate multiplier from Reaction DMG - based on Columbina’s Max HP, by up to 7% at 35000 HP.
To this end, Columbina’s Elemental Burst is worth mentioning. When used, it creates a “Lunar Domain” for 20 seconds, which provides a Lunar Reaction DMG Bonus for all units. However it additionally activates Columbina’s second Ascension Passive, which directly modifies the reactions themselves. For Lunar-Charged and Lunar-Crystallize, when dealing damage, it gives them a one-in-three chance to deal an additional instance of damage. Meanwhile Lunar-Bloom is modified to produce a “Moonridge Dew” in addition to the Verdant Dew it would typically produce, allowing up to 3 Moonridge Dew to be produced every 18s. These allow effects that would typically consume Verdant Dew to consume these after all Verdant Dews are expended.
Her Elemental Skill, however, is the real star of her kit. Using summons a “Gravity Ripple” that follows the active character, applying Hydro every 2 seconds to nearby enemies; with Ascendant Gleam, its Area of Effect reaches even further. It also allows Columbina to accumulate Gravity when Lunar reactions are triggered or Lunar damage is dealt. When fully charged, Columbina automatically unleashes a “Gravity Interference” which deals direct Lunar damage that matches the element of the Lunar damage that dealt the most damage while Gravity was being accumulated. This can occur every 6 seconds, and usually will do so in most of her teams. Her first Ascension Passive is also tied to her Skill, giving Columbina 5% CRIT Rate every time Gravity Interference is triggered with up to 15% - since the buff duration is reset when stacks are gained, Columbina more or less maintains permanent uptime on this.
In a refreshing departure from most units designed to operate off-field, Columbina also has a noteworthy Charged Attack - it can consume Verdant Dew the team has accumulated to deal direct Lunar-Bloom damage instead of its usually unspectacular Hydro damage. This allows Columbina to play on-field as a Main DPS; when paired with Lauma, the premier Lunar-Bloom support, she is surprisingly competent at it! Her Normal Attack string itself is hardly noteworthy, though as a Catalyst user she can use the fact they apply Hydro by default to trigger additional reactions.

Moonsign characters increase the Moonsign level of the party by a stage; at level 1, this grants the Nascent Gleam effect. This has almost no benefits of its own, and is mostly relevant for the incomplete effect of certain character, weapon, and artifact passives.
At level 2 and above, however, it grants Ascendant Gleam – unlocking the full effect of the above passives, alongside allowing non-Moonsign units to increase Lunar Reaction DMG% by up to 36% when using their Skill or Burst. This is based on their stats, which varies by element as follows:
All 5-star Moonsign units can additionally enable the use of and buff the Base Damage (separate from Reaction DMG%) of their corresponding Lunar Reaction. For example, Zibai adds 1 Moonsign level while activating and buffing Lunar-Crystallize, while Illuga just adds 1 Moonsign level to the team.
Columbina as an off-field Sub-DPS simply requires her to use her Skill. Her Burst is used if available, but typically isn’t required every rotation; an exception to this are on Lunar-Bloom teams, which often prefer it.
Columbina is similarly simple to use as a Main DPS, as she can simply hold down her Attack button in order to repeatedly use her special Charged Attack so long as the team has Verdant Dew. For those looking to maximize her, however, they can be cancelled with any of her dash, Skill, or Burst as soon as the Verdant Dew is consumed for a minor damage increase. Beyond this, just cycle through teammates as needed to reapply buffs as needed, or to buy time for Verdant Dew generation.
Her Skill and Burst themselves can generally be used at any time during her field time. If available, it is best to cast her Burst immediately after using her Skill to cancel its ending animation lock.
Columbina’s value has a lot of nuance, the long short of which is that she’s significant if the player has or is interested in using a Lunar DPS, especially Zibai. If this isn’t the case, she tends to be good but superfluous.
As a support to the current Lunar Reaction DPS units, Columbina’s combination of reliable Hydro application, damage, and buffs makes her the undisputed best option in their premier teams. She can also provide additional quality-of-life, such as in Lunar-Bloom teams where she smoothens out Nefer’s rotations. The main consideration to make is that she might not be the most valuable investment a player can make for their Lunar DPS if they have to pick and choose; for example, Flins and especially Nefer would both much prefer Ineffa and Lauma, respectively. This can also be true for her value as a raw damage upgrade in certain vertical investment paths, such as for Nefer, though it does give up the flexibility and quality-of-life Columbina brings.
Enabling Lunar reactions alongside her own good damage means that Columbina can still find a home outside dedicated Lunar DPS units. The most prominent example would be her pairing with Ineffa or Linnea to function as a strong core that can pair up with many DPS + Dedicated Support duos so long as they can mesh with Lunar-Charged or Lunar-Crystallize. For many older characters, this can often serve as one of if not their best teams! In some cases, Columbina’s value is strong enough that this holds true even just as the sole Lunar unit. Additionally, she allows these teams to interact with Lunar mechanics, thus improving their matchup disproportionately on some bosses. The flipside to this is that the non-Lunar DPS units Columbina fits with either have similarly strong if not better options, while those she is Best-in-Slot for are almost always not high priority investments.
Finally, as a main DPS, Columbina only has value if the player has or is planning on obtaining Lauma. With Lauma, she is quite competent, albeit nonetheless trailing behind the dedicated Lunar DPS units.
Nocturne's Curtain CallR1Columbina’s best option, regardless of playstyle.
Sacrificial JadeR5Best for Columbina’s damage in an off-field role, though it can make her Burst nearly impossible to use every rotation on some teams.
Favonius CodexR5A great option on teams where Columbina wants to Burst every rotation, providing herself and the team with Energy.
Prototype AmberR5Provides Columbina with Energy and a HP% mainstat, being good for her personal damage while also providing some sustain utility.
Nocturne's Curtain CallR1Columbina’s best option, regardless of playstyle.
Reliquary of TruthR1A close second option for Main DPS Columbina.
Surf's UpR1Good premium stat stick.
Tome of the Eternal FlowR5Good premium stat stick.
Blackmarrow LanternR5F2P option for Columbina.
Ash-Graven Drinking HornR5F2P option for Columbina.
Silken Moon's SerenadeHer best general option, with the 2-Piece effect also helping with Energy Recharge Requirements.
Aubade of Morningstar and MoonWhile best for Columbina’s own damage, some of her teams tend to prefer her on a more supportive Set. Still strong and scales well with investment into Columbina.
Deepwood MemoriesBest if no other reliable holders are available on Lunar-Bloom teams. She can be the optimal holder for Nefer teams, as Silken Moon Serenade’s Energy Recharge tends to be more valuable for Lauma.
Night of the Sky's UnveilingColumbina’s Best-In-Slot in all situations, providing her great stats while increasing the team’s Lunar Reaction damage.
Gilded DreamsA slightly better placeholder option while farming Night of the Sky’s Unveiling.
