Introduction
The 2nd boss of Hall 1 is Black Smith - a Water-weak boss. This boss has a very unique feature: There are 2 cores; one is a real core and one is treated both as a core and a part (can only be accessed with Pierce). This means piercers’ damage is inflated super hard against this boss. Better? Weekly’s buff is also Core Damage Up.
This is the damage milestone for ONE TEAM. Combining total steps from 5 teams will be your final steps.

As we wrote in our previous introduction, No Limit mode is the game where you maximize your Step while minimizing the resources - which means if you can use 5 non-top-tier Nikkes and still reach a desirable Step, go for it. In exchange, funneling all 5 top-tier Nikkes into 1 team but not reaching the next step means you should distribute 1 or 2 to other teams instead to see whether those teams can reach a higher step instead without compromising the main team’s result.

Mechanics explanation
The most annoying part about Black Smith is its stun - Every 2 bombs spawned, it will stun the HIGHEST HP Nikke. You can play around this by
Burst before it stuns
Manipulate HP so BS will stun non-important Nikkes.
The timeline of its skills goes like this:
Spawning Bombs (2 waves)
Try shooting with 2 Guns (10 shots each, total 20 instances of damage)
If guns are destroyed or have shot all ammo, jump to another spot.
When landing, spawn bombs again (2 waves)
Try shooting with 2 guns (if they still exist; skip if both are destroyed)
Jump back in the middle at far range, stun the highest-HP Nikke and summon an Elemental shield. You need to break 2 QTEs to stop the shield and prevent BS from dealing damage to your stunned Nikke.
Once this sequence is completed, Black Smith will repeat it again. Every 2 sequences, Black Smith will do an extra move:
After the elemental shield phase ends (by expiring QTEs or destroying them), Black Smith will jump at the same spot, spawn another Elemental shield and this time, you have to break 3 QTEs.
And that’s all. Black Smith will keep repeating the sequence - sequence - 3 QTEs - sequence - sequence - … until the end of the fight.
Spawning Bombs
Black Smith will spawn 2 waves of bombs. Those bombs deal quite meaningful damage at higher steps, so you need to test yourself to see at which step you can’t tank those bombs anymore. Also, the bomb may cause incorrect targeting because the Nikke you want to receive the stun is no longer the highest HP in the team. Anyway, they can be destroyed.
Shooting Guns
The 2 guns have quite interesting mechanics:
There’s a core inside each gun which can be accessed even without pierce
Once 2 guns are destroyed, they won’t respawn
Instead, another core is spawned behind the real core. This new core is treated as both core + part, so Nikke’s damage benefits from both core damage up and Part damage up.
These 2 guns have relatively low HP, and AI will target them eventually, making it impossible to preserve them.
This phase can last very long (around 10s if 1 gun survives) or very short (skipped because no gun is alive)
Once 2 guns are broken, you can now pierce 2 cores. There’re a few strategies featuring stalling on breaking 2 guns, but if you run piercer(s) in your team, better to destroy those 2 guns quickly to start inflating piercer(s)’ damage.
Stunning Phase
After spawning bombs 2 times (2+2 waves), even if guns are alive, Black Smith will jump back to the middle, pierce the HIGHEST HP Nikke and stun her.
You can prolong this phase to deal more damage to it (only Water Nikkes can bypass the shield).
If you break 2 QTEs, it will cancel the shield immediately and start jumping again.
If you don’t break 2 QTEs, it will prolong the shield until they expire, then deal heavy damage to the stunned target. This damage is unblockable.
Wiping the Stage
After you finish 2 rounds of the stunning phase above, Black Smith will do a special move: screen wiping.
You can prolong this phase to deal more damage to it (only Water Nikkes can bypass the shield).
If you break 3 QTEs, it will cancel the shield immediately and start jumping again.
If you don’t break 3 QTEs, it will prolong the shield until they expire, then deal heavy damage to all 5 Nikkes. This damage can be blocked by shields.
Blacksmith’s weekly buff is Core Damage’s buff, which is insane and should inflate your total damage by a lot. Always go ham during the weekly’s buff.
