Komugi is a Support primarily for Explosives team or Mech Units team; she can Purge, which pretty much removes negative effects to nearby allies, while at it she can interrupt enemies and generate a decent amount of cost.
Playstyle and Key Mechanics
Komugi is best played on a discard team if you cannot sustain the cost; she’s quite effective on applying [Blaze] and [Wildfire], which can be significant on crew members that rely on them.
For her first card we have [Pinecone Express!] a 3-cost Red Card where she tosses a [Pinecone Drill Bomb] which explodes after 5 seconds after it drills underground, while drilling it inflicts [Lightning] every second, when it explodes she collects one [Pinecone Energy Block] a resource used by her Ultimate.
Next is [Mustard Bone!], a 1-cost Green Card that heals and cleanses allies through [Purge]
Lastly, her ultimate [Daifuku Tank!] consumes all [Pinecone Energy Blocks and summons [The Daifuku]; for each consumed, increase the duration by 2 seconds and DMG dealt by 5%. While using her Ultimate, her stats increase, and whenever a 2+ Cost card is used, she launches [Katsuboshi Rocket] to deal AOE DMG in her targeted area.
Investment
Komugi Awakenings have the majority of them being just QOL effects. You could consider Awakening 2, which is really great for discard setups and quick rotation for any Explosive or Mech Unit teams.
Awakening 1 - [Explosive] deal more DMG for each [Pinecone Energy Block] collected.
Awakening 2 - Reduce the cooldown of the Discard action by 1 for each [Explosive] or [Mech Unit] card.
Awakening 4 - Heals and buffs the DEF of the lowest HP ally when an [Explosive] detonates.
Awakening 5 - Grants a chance for [The Daifuku] to draw a 2+ Cost card when launching a rocket; [Katsuobushi Rocket] deals more damage for each Cost above 2.
Resonance
Resonance 1 — Gain cost per second while [Pinecone Drill Bomb] is drilling.
Resonance 2 — Enhances [Mustard Bone!] to be able to heal nearby allies, and adds an additional effect that increases her ATK when it’s discarded instead.
Resonance 4 — [Pinecone Express!] is considered used when discarded through the Discard action, and if it is used normally, gain additional [Pinecone Energy Block].
Resonance 5 — [Katsuobushi Rocket] inflicts [Blaze] and has a chance to inflict [Wildfire].
Synergies
❗ ❗ ❗ The Synergies mentioned here are merely samples. Taking their core mechanics as an example, you can use many other characters as replacements or other synergies. ❗ ❗ ❗
Dorothy - Primary DPS for the Discard Explosives Team; she easily helps cover cost issues that the team suffers at low investments.
Lycagia - Both of them cover the defensive and sustain aspect of either the Explosives team or a Mech Units team.
Paladi - Komugi’s constant application of Wildfire greatly synergizes with Paladi’s Leader Skill, more so if you have Paladi Awakening 5, reaching the final DMG cap will be easily achieved.
