Review

Dorothy is a DPS that primarily focuses on using [Explosives]. She can mainly utilize the [Discard] action to activate her cards, saving cost in the process. With this in mind, she will require allies that can also do [Explosives], making her quite restrictive when it comes to team building.

Playstyle and Key Mechanics

Discard + [Explosives] is one of the unique playstyles introduced with the introduction of Dorothy. Her cards are quite simple and her key mechanic starts from her Resonance upgrades. But first, let's take a look at her cards:

  • Her first card will be [Legge Bomber], it is a 3-cost Red Card that tosses a projectile that will explode in 3 seconds. Additionally, when it lands, it also deploys [Chained Grenade] and deploys [Zone Lock] to focus basic attack on that area.

  • The next card is [Bingo!], a 3-cost Red Card that will deploy [Chained Grenade] depending on the number of cards in your hand.

  • Lastly, we have [Mega Rampage], which is a Yellow Card that draws 3 cards, mainly the red ones. She will toss [Chained Grenade] depending on the cost of the drawn cards.

Investment

Her awakening mainly focuses on her and [Explosive] damage. By getting more awakening she will be able to apply a random elemental status effect. Now let’s check them out 1 by 1:

  • Awakening 1 - Whenever and [Explosive] detonates, she increases her ATK.

  • Awakening 2 - Makes her [Explosive] apply [Lightning], [Ignite] or [Chill] randomly.

  • Awakening 4 - Makes her [Explosive] apply [Thunder], [Blaze] or [Freeze] instead and a chance to double their damage. If both effects are triggered, she will scale the damage of [Chained Grenade] by 10%.

  • Awakening 5 - Increases the damage of [Explosive] of all allies by 50%.

Resonance
  • Resonance 1 — Instantly uses [Bingo!] whenever encountering a wave.

  • Resonance 2 — Improves the usage of [Legge Bomber] by getting 1 cost whenever it enters.

  • Resonance 4 — Improves the usage of [Legge Bomber] by making it considered use when getting discarded to the discard pile and has an additional effect of reducing the Discard action cooldown by 5 seconds.

  • Resonance 5 — Dorothy will toss a [Chained Grenade] every time a card is discarded in the discard pile.

Synergies

  • Heinrich - Easily one of the best members for her teams, by having a kit that focuses heavily on [Explosives] and the team’s defences by providing shields.

  • Shizuru - Has a cheap [Explosives] card and great drawing capabilities.

  • Dustin - Best premium support for her at the moment, has great cost generation while also being able to reduce a card cost by 0. Dustin also heals quite decently.

Weapon:
  • UR Retraction Bomb MK 3: Whenever a total of 33 [Explosives] explode, drops a [Retraction Bomb MK 3] on the enemy field and triggers [Wildfire]. The yield of the bomb increases according to the accumulated number of [Explosives]. [Retraction Bomb MK 3] is [Explosive].

  • UR Scorching Spike: Whenever [Ignite] is inflicted 8 times or [Blaze] is inflicted 4 times, inflicts [Wildfire].

  • UR Treasure Gun: Using the [Discard] action retrieves a card from the Discarded to your hand.

  • SSR Unbewusstes Probe: Whenever you play a Red Card of cost 3 or more, random enemy receive 3% less healing. This effect stacks up to a maximum of 75%.

  • SSR Million-Tons Revelation: ATK +80

  • SSR: Degenerate Blackrock: Increases wearer's final DMG dealt by 10%. This effect stacks.

  • SR: Dissection Tool C: Using [Discard] action restores 1 Cost. This effect stacks.

  • R Gardener Multi-Tool: Playing a Red Card increases ATK by 0.5%. This effect stacks.

  • R Mass Projector: Using [Leader Skill] increases ATK by 1.5%. This effect stacks.

Armor:
  • UR Lucid Dream Fiber: Wearer's Red Cards heal the wearer for 2% of the damage dealt.

  • UR Grandfather Reactive Armor: At the start of battle, convert 5% ATK of the ally with highest DEF to the wearer's ATK. When taking DMG, transfer 25% of the DMG taken to the ally with highest DEF.

  • SSR Simulated Stars: Using [Leader Skill] restores 5% HP. This effect stacks.

  • SSR External Memory Matrix: Max damage taken per hit is 33% of Max HP.

  • SSR Mecha Armor: Whenever [Slash] / [Rend] inflicted by wearer deals damage, restores HP equal to 5% of the damage dealt.

  • SSR Black Rock Armor: Reduces wearer's final DMG taken by 10%. This effect stacks.

  • SSR High Dimension Construct: Generating a Black Card restores 5% of Max HP. This effect stacks.

  • SR Resonance Fiber: When own skill card is used, restores 2% of Max HP.

  • SSR Divinity Seal: Gains 2 Cost at the battle's beginning. This effect stacks.

  • SSR Fengshui Tactical Drone: For every 8 cards used, increases ATK or DEF by 2%, up to a maximum of 50%.

  • SR Magic Spring: Restores 0.02 Cost per second. This effect stacks.

  • R Harrison Device: Playing a Yellow Card restores 0.3 Cost. This effect does not stack.

Pros

  • Able to use some of her skills when using Discard action, saving cost and cycling the deck faster.

  • Her Skills have great AOE coverage, clearing waves of enemies more efficiently.

Cons

  • Limited team compositions, as she mainly wants other crew members who can do explosives, mainly Heinrich and Shizuru.

  • Will require proper adjustment on drawing and cost generation, as too much drawing will clog the deck; even with her leader skill being able to draw cards, it doesn't have the condition to ignore hand size.

This team functions by using a niche weapon - Dissection Tool C, which provides 1 cost whenever Discard Action is used. As we are using a lot of [Explosives] we take advantage of it by using Retraction Bomb MK 3 which triggers a massive explosion every 33 [Explosives] used. Dorothy and Heinrich are inseparable as they synergize very well, Stella is here for cost reduction, Shizuru for cheap [Explosive] cards and dustin for cost generation, draws and heal.
