Qano is an Odd Affinity Damage Dealer, possessing multiple forms of conditional damage increases as well as rare and powerful, but situational self-buffs.

Skill 1

Qano’s S1 is split between an active and a passive: the active is an ST attack that deals average damage by itself, and has a moderate chance to inflict [ATK-] for 2 turns.

His passive, Dead Calm, increases the Damage of Qano’s attacks if the targets hit have less ATK than him, up to 75%. Additionally, if Qano kills an enemy, his Animus CDs are fully reset.

Qano’s Skill modifiers are fairly low by themselves, so he relies heavily on his passive to pump more DMG. For that reason, getting the skill to level 5 is especially important. Because all of Qano’s skills have very potent level 5 upgrades, they are all high priority, but still, focus on S3 and S1 first for PVE.

Skill 2

S2 is another ST attack, hitting once for good damage. This skill deals more damage the lower the target’s current HP is, receiving up to a 60% increase if the enemy is at 40% HP or lower. If Qano kills his target with this skill, he gets up to 60% Turn Meter.

Much like S1, Qano needs to rely on the conditional DMG buff of his S2 to make it a threatening attack. For that reason, and because the Turn Meter buff on kill is absolutely massive, Level 3 needs to be reached as soon as possible, and quickly getting to Level 5 is highly recommended as well. Prioritise this skill over S1 if you’re bringing Qano for PVP.

Skill 3

S3 is a 3-hit AoE, with the third hit applying [Fracture] on all targets. This skill deals much more damage to Qano’s main target, increasing by up to 75%. Once lvl5, the skill also grants Qano the [Void] buff after attacking, which is the same buff as the Law of Silence Shell.

[Fracture] is a Debuff that increases Qano’s damage on the afflicted targets by 20% per stack present on them. There can be up to 3 stacks on each enemy, and they cannot be purified.

The [Void] effect can play a huge role, especially in PVP, so getting this skill to level 5 is mandatory if you plan to bring Qano in the various PVP modes. 1st priority.

PVE

In PVE, Qano can be compared to Batsby: a strong mix of AoE and ST damage that can quickly get rid of waves of enemies, but lacks the ability to hold his own in pure nuking or in prolonged fights. Qano being of the same Affinity as a powerhouse like Rosa does not help his case, unfortunately.

PVP

Although a viable pick, Qano’s performance is highly dependent on the meta. He’s got strong Turn 1 Cleave potential, especially when paired with Turandot, however that’s also his biggest downside, as that makes gearing him challenging: he needs a lot of SPD and ATK to follow up his openers and have more ATK than his targets, Revelation pushes his damage very high but leaves him vulnerable and Law of Silence grants him more survivability but comes at the cost of losing some damage. Overall, a good addition to the Cleave roster if you’ve got the tools and gear required to play these kinds of strats.

Conclusion

Qano is a viable, but situational pick capable of performing decently in both PVE and PVP, however his greatest strengths are also his biggest weaknesses, making him highly dependent on external factors such as the state of the meta or the direct competition he faces within the same role.

Pros & Cons
Pros

  • Good Damage overall.

  • Built-in [Void] Buff after using S3.

  • CD resets and massive Turn Meter boost on kills with S2.

Cons

  • Struggles in both short and very long fights in PVE.

  • Brings no utility outside of [ATK-].

  • Needs more ATK than his target(s).

Best Builds (Generic)

After the host takes action, follows up on the main target, dealing 200% damage. Each trigger permanently increases this skill's damage multiplier by an additional 250%, up to 5 times.

A heavy-hitting shell whose personal damage scales well throughout the fight. Its main downside is that it cannot buff its wielder, making it a subpar option in most scenarios. Benefits the most from Animuses who take lots of turns as quickly as possible.

Setup for mid/long battles, Qano can spam his skills quite well if he gets kills, on top of cycling his turns really fast with S2.

After the main body acts, it performs a [Follow-up Attack] on the primary target, dealing 2 instances of 110% damage each. If a [CRIT] occurs, it increases the main body Animus’s [CRIT DMG] by 10%, up to a maximum of 8 stacks.

Consistent option for most DPS characters when it comes to raw damage output. Deals 2 sizable hits on a 3 turn cooldown and grants a relatively quickly stacking buff amounting to 60% CRIT DMG once fully charged. Also has more flexible DPS matrixes than other options thanks to it possessing 12P Swiftrush.

Alternate setup for mid/long battles.

Before the main body acts, causes the main Animus to deal additional true indirect damage equal to 12% of the target's max HP with each critical hit during this turn (damage per hit cannot exceed 180% of own ATK). In PVP mode, this will be affected by Etherena Effect - Guardian Field, reducing damage by 30%.

Grants the wearer a buff for one turn on use. While the buff is active, each individual hit of damage dealt by the wearer that critically strikes will cause the target to suffer 12% of their HP as true damage (up to 180% of the wearer's ATK per individual hit). This damage cannot be increased outside of scaling ATK and cannot critically strike itself. Strongest on characters that hit multiple times with abilities, and even stronger in AoE scenarios with multi-hitting abilities. An ability that hits 4 times and hits all enemies (5) can lead to 20 Revelation activations. The damage of this effect is reduced by 30% in PVP.

Burst setup, maximizing AoE damage.

Before the owner takes action, increases their ATK by 1200 for 2 turn(s) and additionally applies a 2-turn [Life Leech - Shell] to them.

Grants the wearer 1200 Flat ATK and a buff allowing them to lifesteal 10% of the damage they deal while active. Damage-wise, the Shell is strongest for characters that don’t rely on their Shell for a large portion of their total damage, like Follow-Up attackers. The lifesteal effect of this Shell also makes it worth considering in PVP and PVE, even if it’s a damage downgrade.

Another Burst setup, focusing more on the ATK scaling.

At the start of the battle, puts the owner Animus in a 1-turn [Void] state; afterward, for every 3 turn(s), enters a 2-turn [Void] state after the turn ends and increases ATK by 30%.

A PVP-focused defensive option for DPS characters, allowing them to enter the Void state at the start of battle, increasing their Effect Resistance by 100%, reducing the area DMG they take by 50%, and also making them un-targettable for its duration.
