Review

Liliam is a Disorder Affinity Nuker/Controller hybrid, capable of singling out a target and inflicting massive damage to them with very little outside assistance.

Skill 1

Liliam’s S1 features both a passive and active effect:

  • The passive effect renders Liliam fully immune to all manners of Controls, ranging from Silence to Stun to Taunt, or even Freeze and Sleep, while also gaining complete immunity to any effect that reduces Turn meter, such as Holden’s S2 or Freya’s passive, to name a few.

  • The active component is a simple, yet efficient, 1-hit single target attack that deals good damage while providing Heal to Liliam based on the damage dealt.

Skill 2

Her S2 is her only Control tool, but can single-handedly turn the tides of a battle in your favor. First, Liliam attacks a single enemy twice, dealing higher damage the lower the HP% of the enemy is, then she is guaranteed to inflict [Stun] to them regardless of ACC or RES  as long as their HP is below 70%. If that wasn’t enough, should the target die, the [Stun] is instead applied to the entire enemy team.

Skill 3

Upon using her S3, Liliam gains [ATK+] and [SPD+] for 2 turns, then she delivers a huge single target strike to an enemy, which is amplified by up to 50% if said enemy has more than 60% of their Max HP. As a cherry on top, this Skill also fully ignores [Shields] and [Seals] part of the enemy’s Max HP, based on half the damage the attack dealt.

[Seal] is a Debuff that can’t be interacted with (cannot be Purified, transferred, etc), which permanently removes that HP, making Healing the target afflicted by it much weaker while also reducing the impact of any HP-based abilities or effects like Tiamat’s attacks.

PVP

Liliam is designed as a PVP specialist, with both S2&3 capable of inflicting high damage and debilitating effects, while her S1 passive makes controlling her impossible.

Due to her single target nature, Liliam isn’t a favored choice for pure cleave playstyle, which aims to obliterate the enemy team on their very first turn. With that said, Liliam is still certainly capable of dealing massive damage to enemies when built with pure offense in mind if that’s what you’re after.

While Liliam doesn’t instantly slot into top tier cleave compositions she does have a place in bruiser based teams building tankier with defensive shells and matrix sets. When played in this way, Liliam will sacrifice a lot of her damage and most of her one-shot potential in exchange for a playstyle that allows her to completely ignore control effects while dishing out [stuns] and [seals] of her own. With this playstyle, Liliam can serve as a foil to HP scaling characters, healers, and control compositions while being an all-inclusive self-buffing package of her own to then whittle down foes while also unleashing her more controlling aspects.

Also noteworthy is Liliam’s extremely high base SPD for a Damage dealer, going all the way up to 140 once her S3 is fully leveled up, which can rival or get very close to most openers. That makes it much easier for Liliam to maintain a reasonable SPD value without having to invest too much into it, offering more leeway when tuning her gear to tackle enemy Defenses.

PVE

In PVE, Liliam doesn’t bring much new to the table that her SR counterpart Diting doesn’t already do better.

In a vacuum, Liliam’s personal buffs could allow her to keep up with Diting in extended fights, but most teams already provide the buffs Liliam grants herself. [ATK] is incredibly common, and Lily, Fuqiu, or Nilu usually have [SPD] covered, meaning Liliam’s greatest advantage is usually cancelled out.

To make things worse, Liliam’s signature control resistance doesn’t have nearly as much impact in PVE as it does in PVP; her [Seal] doesn’t work on bosses, her [Stun] only situationally works, and most bosses don’t have shields for her to ignore.

Conclusion

PVP is where Liliam shines; most of her kit serves to directly counter a portion of the meta, and her self-buffs are something you may not always have in every PVP draft or team. In PVE, a large amount of Liliam’s kit, or what makes her special, either doesn’t work or is greatly diminished; her buffs are far more easily covered by top PVE than in PVP, and other characters do what she does better in most encounters.

Pros & Cons
Pros

  • High single-target damage.

  • Brings her own [ATK] & [SPD] buffs, freeing up slots in some teams.

  • Very fast for a Damage Dealer.

  • Permanently reduces the Health pool of enemies hit by S3.

  • ST and AoE Stun apply regardless of Effect ACC.

  • Immune to all Hard CCs and negative Turn meter manipulation.

  • Low CDs on Skills once S3 is Lv5.

Cons

  • Selfish buffs, inviting redundancy.

  • Needs high levels on all Skills to function properly.

  • A large amount of kit dedicated to PVP

Best Build

The builds below are tailored more toward PVE and we only mention PVP in some places - like for alternative Shells or Module choices. But PVE is our focus.

Best Shells

For some DPS characters, we're showing two set of numbers. The top one on shows the performance in single-target scenario and the bottom on blue background in AoE scenario (4 targets). If there's just one number, it means the character only has single-target capability.

100%

After the main body acts, it performs a [Follow-up Attack] on the primary target, dealing 2 instances of 110% damage each. If a [CRIT] occurs, it increases the main body Animus’s [CRIT DMG] by 6%, up to a maximum of 10 stacks.

Consistent option for most DPS characters when it comes to raw damage output. Deals 2 sizable hits on a 3 turn cooldown and grants a relatively quickly stacking buff amounting to 60% CRIT DMG once fully charged. Also has more flexible DPS matrixes than other options thanks to it possessing 12P Swiftrush.

The higher sustained damage option for Liliam over longer fights thanks to its stacking CRIT DMG boost.

Before the owner takes action, increases their ATK by 1200 for 2 turn(s) and additionally applies a 2-turn [Life Leech - Shell] to them.

Grants the wearer 1200 Flat ATK and a buff allowing them to lifesteal 10% of the damage they deal while active. Damage-wise, the Shell is strongest for characters that don’t rely on their Shell for a large portion of their total damage, like Follow-Up attackers. The lifesteal effect of this Shell also makes it worth considering in PVP and PVE, even if it’s a damage downgrade.

A better burst damage option than White Fang boasting a stronger (but temporary) buff and additional Life Steal for Liliam while active. This makes it makes it the superior choice if the fight is decided before or shortly after its duration expires. Loses out to White Fang in longer fights where Count has downtime. Count can also be used as a fully offensive PVP build alternative.

PVP Setup

Below you can find some alternative setups you can use, but only in PVP.

1

At the start of the battle, puts the owner Animus in a 1-turn [Void] state; afterward, for every 4 turn(s), enters a 2-turn [Void] state after the turn ends and increases ATK by 10%.

A PVP-focused defensive option for DPS characters, allowing them to enter the Void state at the start of battle, increasing their Effect Resistance by 60%, reducing the area DMG they take by 50%, and also making them un-targettable for its duration.

For those who want a more defensive option than Count while still maintaing the ability to use high damage potential Matrix combos.

2

Triggers when the main body takes DMG greater than 25% of Max HP within a turn, healing the main body for 25% Max HP and increasing Turn Meter progress by 25%.

A strong personal sustain option for characters, granting them a 25% max HP restore and 25% gauge boost upon taking hits within a single turn greater than 25% of their max HP (on a 2-turn cooldown). Has situational use in PVE but shines the most in PVP, granting your teams extra healing and gauge boost on a semi-frequent cooldown.

Grants Liliam access to the most potent defensive PVP matrixes, while also offering her a guarenteed recovery through healing and gauge boosting. If you can survive the enemies burst, this shell gives you a chance to swing the fight back in your favor.

When the owner Animus is about to die, halves their current Turn Meter, removes all effects on them, recovers 60% of their Max HP, and puts them into a 1-turn [Iced] state.,

The cooldown of the skill can't be reduced.

Allows the wearer to cheat death once every 6 turns. Upon dying, they will instead recover 60% HP and enter a special state, becoming immune to turn meter reductions, debuffs, buffs, and also gaining 200% increased DEF until the start of their next turn. A powerful option for keeping vulnerable high-value units alive in PVP.

Similar to Lighthouse but even more defensive, thanks to its cheat death mechanic - but at the cost of the gauge boosting Lighthouse provides.

For every 3 actions accumulated by enemy units, increases the owner's Turn Meter by 35%, and can be triggered up to 1 times per turn.

Grants the wearer a 35% gauge boost for every 3 enemy actions that occur, once per turn. A solid choice for Supports in content that sees multiple enemies acting per one turn of the wearer. Loses value against singular enemies or enemies that move slowly or not at all (due to control effects).

An alternative gauge boosting option to Lighthouse that doesn't rely on getting hit but needs the enemy move 3 times before triggering. Holds the edge over Lighthouse when against team that have multiple characters dedicated to set-up or control, while also having superior gauge boosting.

6 debuffs

6/12:  CRIT Rate +12%

12/12:  CRIT Rate +12%. When attacking, for each debuff or control effect on the target, DMG increases by 6%, up to 36%.

Strongest Pure DPS 12P set for most characters, offering a maximum of 36% increased damage while the target has 6 debuffs. Not easy to build up to or maximize the full effect. The set does not boost Shell damage.

127.59%

6/12:  CRIT DMG +18%

12/12:  CRIT DMG +18%. The first three instances of damage dealt by Animus during the turn increase by 25%, 15%, and 5% respectively.

A strong but character-dependent 12P DPS option. Grants a diminishing DMG% boost to attacks that is most powerful for single-hit abilities and weaker on characters with many multi-hit abilities. The boost does not apply to FuA or Shells.

123.12%

3 debuffs

6/12:  CRIT Rate +12%

12/12:  CRIT Rate +12%. When attacking, for each debuff or control effect on the target, DMG increases by 6%, up to 36%.

117.11%

4/12:  ATK +10%

8/12:  ATK +25%

12/12:  ATK +45%

Generic DPS option for ATK scalers. Loses out to more specialised options, but is accessible.

8 Piece sets:

116.33%

4/8:  ATK +10%

8/8:  ATK +10%. When an Animus lands a CRIT, the DMG result of that his increases by an additional 12%.

Go-to best option for most ATK + CRIT-based DPS characters when maximising raw damage output, thanks to its 12% DMG increase for the wearer (and their Shells) critical strikes.

111.82%

4/8:  ATK +10%

8/8:  ATK +10%. When Attacking, if the target's HP is above 50%, additionally ignore 30% of their DEF.

A solid alternative to Fury and other DPS 8P sets in teams that do not have access to [-DEF]. In these teams, it will perform above its listing, giving it a chance to compete with and outperform other options. Gets worse the more DEF ignore and reductions you have.

109.73%

4/12:  ATK +10%

8/12:  ATK +25%

12/12:  ATK +45%

Generic DPS option for ATK scalers. Loses out to more specialised options, but is accessible.

117%

6/6:  SPD +15% & ATK +20%

Best set for most ATK-based DPS thanks to it being present on most of the best DPS Shells. It loses significant value in teams where teammates can allow the DPS to run low-speed builds, making Furyedge a better choice.

113.21%

6/6:  CRIT Rate +12% & CRIT DMG +20%

The top damage-focused option when speed isn’t a factor. In many endgame teams, the main DPS relies on their teammates to boost them, thus avoiding the need for Speed. This set pulls ahead of alternatives like Swiftraid/smite in these situations.

1

6/12:  Effect RES +18%

12/12:  Effect RES +18%. When the total DMG taken in a turn exceeds 20% of Max HP, the excess DMG is additionally reduced by 55%.

Exceptional anti-burst defensive set, most notably used in PVP to prevent enemies from one-shotting your team with aggressive combo compositions. It can also be used in specific PvE encounters, but it is far more niche.

2

4/8:  DEF +10%

8/8:  DEF +10%. Upon hit, Animuses have a 25% chance to counterattack with a basic attack.

Incredibly potent specialist set for DPS and Support characters. Grants the wearer a 25% chance upon being attacked to use their Basic ATK along with all its passive effects. Most powerful on characters with potent Basic Attacks that have passive effects and/or can redirect attacks toward themselves.

3

4/8:  DEF +10%

8/8:  DEF +10%. After being attacked, advances Turn Meter by 10%.

A powerful specialist option for Supports and, in some cases, DPS characters. When used in PVP, it can allow you to ‘catch up’ against teams that move before you, giving you a chance to fight back. In PvE, it can be a strong gauge boosting tool in fights against many enemies or bosses that hit your team incredibly frequently.

4

6/6:  DEF +25% & Effect RES +20%

A no-speed defensive choice for your Inferno 6P set. It can be worth it on some characters, specifically DEF stackers, but it often loses out to SPD-based alternatives.

Stat comments

Liliam has four stats to pay attention to across gear:

  • Crit Rate: Reaching 100% CRIT RATE is vital for maximizing Liliam's damage and consistency. Reach it as quickly as possible.
  • Crit DMG: While building CRIT RATE and especially after it's maxed CRIT DMG should be your next most important target to stack as high as possible.
  • ATK: As a third priority stacking ATK% will also increase Liliam's damage nicely, but isn't as high value as either CRIT stat.
  • SPD: When played alongside a Gauge Booster like Lily, Tsukiyo Mi or other characters that grant her Action Gauge Liliam may not need to build that much SPD or any at all. Alternatively when played without a booster dedicated to supporting her, SPD becomes one of Liliam's highest priority stats to ensure she moves early in action orders and cycles frequently.
Shell Passives
Slot 1
ATK% > ATK
Slot 2
CRIT Rate = CRIT DMG >= SPD
Slot 3
Disorder DMG% > DMG%
Passive comments
  • Slot 1: ATK% is optimal, but if you're lacking in materials Flat ATK can also be used.
  • Slot 2: Both Crit Rate and Crit DMG are great on her and what is best depends on the stats you have. SPD is situational choice here.
  • Slot 3: Disorder DMG% is optimal, but if you're lacking in materials generic DMG% can also be used.
Skill Priority
Skill Priority
SUSTAINED DMG: (S3 Lv5 > S2 Lv5 = S1 Lv5) | BURST DMG & UTILITY: (S3 Lv3 = S1 Lv5 > S3 Lv5 = S2 Lv5)
Comments

SUSTAINED DMG: When looping Liliam multiple times in a fight, her S3 is most important to fully max out in order to allow her to permanantly maintain her [SPD+] and [ATK+] buffs while also maintaing a smooth synced up rotation with her S2 cooldown. | BURST & UTILITY: When playing Liliam in more of a bursty role, it's possible she might only need to use one S3, a skill and a basic attack in order to fully decide the fight. Under these conditions Liliam's buffs wont run out even if you don't have her S3 maxed therefore it can be more beneficial to pick up the Control Immunity and ATK from her S1 before investing into cooldown reduction unless you need the extra SPD from S3 Lv4.
