Grim Pursuit - Whitney Guide

Whitney is one of the Grim Pursuit bosses. In this guide you will find tips how to deal with her!
Whitney Overview
- Boss Name: Whitney.
- Element: Reason.
- Challenge Type: Grim Pursuit.
- Difficulty Tiers: Hard → Nightmare.
- Key Threats: Powerful Debuffs, Follow Up Attacks.
Shell Drops
Here are the Shells dropped by the boss:

Skills Overview
Stasis
Whitney controls clock hands; deals 600% damage to a single target with a 100% chance to steal 25% Turn Meter.
How to counter?
- Chiaki [The Echo] or a Taunter to let your DPS and Supports avoid the Turn Meter Steal.
Needle of Delay
Whitney controls multiple clock hands, dealing 450% damage to all targets, with a 100% chance to inflict a 2-turn [ATK Down]. If Whitney has [Time Control] when casting this skill, consumes all stacks and inflicts corresponding stacks of [Time Stop] on all targets. Then gains 15 stack(s) of [Time Control].
- [Time Control]: Loses 1 stack(s) upon taking damage. This effect cannot be dispelled.
- [Time Stop]: Each stack decreases SPD by 3%, up to 15 stacks. This effect cannot be dispelled.
How to counter?
- Cleanse and Immunity to avoid the ATK Down, and extra attacks/follow up to quickly reduce the stacks on the boss.
Cycle of Rebirth
Whitney reverses time and space; revives all dead Clock Monsters and fully restores the HP of all Clock Monsters on the field.
How to counter?
- With enough survivability and Turn Meter Manipulation you can completely ignore the Clock Monsters, so this mechanic is only bothersome when you stall. If you decide to clear the add-ons, bring an AoE Debuffer and an AoE DPS, as Whitney is not a threat when her add-ons are dead.
Time Surge
When an allied unit uses a damage skill, other Clock Monsters have a 20% chance to launch Follow-up Attacks on the main target. If the unit using the skill is Whitney, the Follow-up Attack rate increases to 40%.
How to counter?
- Hard CCs work the best, also AoE Taunt is great thanks to its 2-turn duration.
Team Composition Tips
We don’t need to bring anything new to the fight compared to the previous Shell Bosses, so the Team building is quite simple and permissive:
- Healer/Support - Just like the previous fights, AoE Heals are favored while Single Target is mostly relevant if you constantly Taunt the enemies without taking them down:
- DPS - 3 ways to go about this fight - Single Target Burst, AoE DPS and Stall:
- Single target: RosaKhlorosBorgne etc: Any non-Hollow Single Target DPS/Nuker can really hurt Whitney. This is the way for the fastest clear times;
- Burst: TiamatLianHelkid etc: Units with heavy AoEs make quick work of the Clock Monsters, drastically reducing the pressure on your Tank/Healer. This is a good approach when you have strong AoE dealers;
- DoT: FangusObol- The DoT team, although not at its strongest in low health AoE content, sees both of its damage dealers double as Debuffers/CC machines, resulting in a fairly slow but safe run.
- Buffer/Debuffer - Depending on your DPS choice, adapt your utility to strengthen your strongest points:
- FreyaDinahGrayYang etc: for Single Target and AoE you can easily make your pick among the many possibilities. The only type of buffer that isn’t recommended is the Single Target “Hyper Buffer” that requires a well geared carry DPS. If you do have one, then on the contrary this becomes the best recommendation;
- Special mention to Freya andChiaki [The Echo], whose buffs and debuffs fit into every team.
- Tank - If your damage isn’t high enough, a Tank greatly simplifies this fight:
Best Teams
If you don't have some of the characters visible in the teams, you can replace them with another one that fulfills the same role (check the section above).
