NicoNana Overview
- Boss Name: NicoNana.
- Element: Reason.
- Challenge Type: Grim Pursuit.
- Difficulty Tiers: Nightmare → Hell → Inferno.
- Key Threats: AoE DEF Down and Atk Ramp.
- Hollow Units Disadvantaged: On top of the generic disadvantages, Hollow Units take massively increased damage from the enemy on Inferno difficulty (200%).
Shell Drops
Here are the Shells dropped by the boss:

Skills Overview
Powerful Add-ons
The add-ons in this fight provide powerful Buffs to NicoNana - it is important to prevent those Buffs, otherwise the boss turns into an absolute beast.
How to counter?
- CCs and Turn Meter Manipulation, to ensure your team plays more often than the enemies;
- Block Buffs on NicoNana or multiple sources of Dispel/Buff Steal.
Spinning Windmill
NicoNana instructs the Gorilla to strike with its heavy fists, dealing 600% damage to a single enemy and stealing 25% of their Turn Meter.
How to counter?
- NicoNana has multiple ways of increasing her ATK, so this hurts more than previous Single Target attacks. It’s recommended to either bring a Taunter or have sources of DEF Up/Damage reduction.
Game of Moles
NicoNana instructs the enraged Mecha Unbreakable to shake the ground, dealing 500% damage to all targets, with a 50% chance to inflict [DEF Down] for 2 turn(s).
How to counter?
- Same as Spinning Windmill, mitigating the Damage makes it a lot more manageable. Bring Immunity/Cleanse too in order to get rid of the DEF Down.
Friendly Match
Starts with a 90% extra DMG Reduction. When attacked, reduces extra DMG Reduction by 1.5% for every 1 additional SPD the attacker possesses compared to the unit.
How to counter?
- Best way is to use the DoT team, as the Max HP % damage is not impacted by this passive;
- If you decide to bring regular Attackers, high SPD is mandatory. You’re going to need high base SPD and the SPD Buff/Debuff can really help push your damage higher. For information, NicoNana has more than 210 SPD in Inferno difficulty and any Attacker with less SPD than her (counting Buffs and Debuffs) deals 90% less Damage to her.
Losing Patience
Deals 15% more damage for every 2 turn(s) of action taken by the unit.
How to counter?
- Favors Turn Meter Manipulation and greatly disadvantages teams with no way to slow NicoNana down or burst her.
Team Composition Tips
NicoNana is only scary if you do nothing to stop her buff stacking, thankfully there are multiple ways to deal with it. She also deals 3 times more damage to Hollow Units in Inferno difficulty so keep that in mind when building your team:
- Healer/Support - Sources of AoE Heal, DEF Up and Purify/Immunity are once again favored:
- Lingluo andMia are excellent here, fulfilling multiple roles by themselves;
- Sania andFreya although usable, are at risk of being one shot by the Boss’ AoE if you lack the proper mitigation.
- DPS - Opt for units with extra utility unless you’re confident in bursting down the boss:
- Fangus andObol are once again perfect here, mixing damage, SPD Down and Stun;
- Lian stands out among the Reason Units, but requires heavy SPD Manipulation from her teammates;
- Rosa andXiada are both great Odd Units to bring in this fight.
- Buffer/Debuffer - Look for SPD Up and Down - these are more impactful than pure Turn Meter increase/decrease in this fight. You can also go for Hard CCs to keep the add-ons from buffing, but be wary as allowing them a single turn unbothered can be enough to ruin your gameplan if you rely only on chain CC:
- Tsukiyo Mi andViper for Odd Units are amazing here, Viper especially if you have no other Dispeller/Buff Steal;
- Veronika andKazami Kazuyo for Reason Units;
- Kloss shines even as a Hollow Unit, but be careful not to get one shot!
- Tank - Bringing a Tank can be difficult as each spot on the team needs to perform multiple roles.
