Review
Areal is a Disorder Affinity Support/Sustain hybrid, showcasing tremendous buffing potential thanks to her scaling throughout the fights.
Skill 1 is divided into an active and a passive component: Areal deals damage once to a single enemy, and heals the 2 allies (at level 5) with the lowest HP by a percentage of their own max HP. The passive, Botanical Awakening, allows Areal’s Healing Skills to Crit, and whenever a heal crits, 1 stack of [Glintseed] is applied to the ally who received that critical heal. This passive also provides Areal with Damage reduction based on her Crit Rate. Crits from the Purifying Shroud passive Healing also trigger Glintseed.
Each stack of [Glintseed] increases the receiver’s ATK, DEF and SPD by 10%, and can stack up to 3 times. Once fully stacked, the buff transforms into [Prismatic Corolla], a 3-turn enhanced version of Glintseed that boosts ATK, DEF and SPD by 50%. Neither Buff can be dispelled, and Prismatic Corolla’s duration cannot be altered. Lastly, you cannot gain Glintseed stacks on an Animus with an active Prismatic Corolla effect.
Both the personal effects of the skill as well as its buffing and healing potentials are just too good to pass up. For this reason, it’s highly recommended to bring the skill to level 4 as soon as possible, then bring it to level 5 after S3.
S2 is an AoE Heal that recovers a portion of all allies’ HP based on their respective max HP. On top of that, a 2-turn [Crit Damage+] buff is applied to every ally. If the heal crits, the main target receives a 2-turn [Soul Ward] effect while the rest of the team receives the buff for 1 turn.
Big heal, big damage boost (and also heal boost for Areal), as well as one of the strongest Buffs in the game, all in one button press. Raise the skill to level 3 minimum, then take it to level 5 last.
Areal’s S3 is a powerful AoE Heal that restores a lot of health to each ally based on their respective max HP, on top of increasing their Turn Meter by 15%. Any ally who receives excess Healing from this skill gets an extra 10% Turn Meter. When using this skill and at the start of battle (once level 5), Areal applies the [Purifying Shroud] Buff to herself for respectively 2 and 1 turn(s).
[Purifying Shroud] grants Areal extra Turn Meter equivalent to the percentage of Health lost by her allies when they lose HP. Not only that, but every time an ally takes their turn, 2 Debuffs are purified from them and they recover 20% of their max HP. This debuff cannot be interacted with (yellow icon).
Getting the Purifying Shroud at the start of battle is too important, and for this reason, the skill needs to be taken to level 5 with top priority. This is compounded even more by the fact that every level of this skill provides strong upgrades to every part of the skill except its direct Turn Meter generation.
In PVE, Areal very easily finds a place in almost every team comp you can imagine. Her mix of ultra-potent Buffs, very good Healing and constant Purifications allows her to shine in just about any encounter that lasts more than 1-2 turns. Yes, while she may not be optimal in ultra-short burst content when compared to the likes of Turandot, she’s terrific anywhere else. It’s to the point that her dominance as a Support/Healer hybrid can be compared to Plume’s undisputed reign as the best Debuffer. Her main downside would be that she does not have any sources of Immunity, making her and her team more vulnerable to CCs and Dispels.
The story doesn’t change much in PVP, with Areal’s strengths working at full capacity there too. Her quickly ramping Buffs give her team the edge in Buff-heavy contests, her passive combo of Healing, Turn Meter and Purifications works even better than in PVE thanks to the abundance of Bruiser Animuses, and the Soul Ward coupled with her built-in DMG Reduction makes her and her allies especially tanky so long as there isn’t a Buff stealer/Buff blocker who can apply their effects unimpeded.
She doesn’t have super-specific synergies, as she can work in most strategies where fights take longer than 1 turn. Her natural weaknesses though, are few but still relevant: due to her lack of Immunity, CD increase works fine against her, and Forgetfulness and other disruptive effects can work well if they’re not properly accounted for by the player picking Areal. Also, regardless of how many buffs she applies, CC heavy comps can sometimes find a way to get through her stacked kit by simply denying her team long enough to generate an advantage and capitalize on it.
Areal is a terrifyingly strong Animus, comparable to Plume in her dominance within her role. With exceptional performance in both PVE and PVP, Etheria Restart features a new, tiny queen who is sure to change the way we approach the game.
Massive ATK, DEF and SPD Buffs.
Spammable Soul Ward + CDMG Buff.
Passively provides Turn Meter, Heal and Purifications.
Innately tanky.
Cheap for PVE, Skills are strong even at level 1.
Extremely beginner-friendly.
High investment cost for PVP, Skills all want to be upgraded.
No Immunity in her kit.
Average to low base SPD.

1
Allows you to reduce cooldown of a random ability, improving the cycling abilities of the character.
Her best in slot shell thanks to making her s3 always activated.
Best Module Sets:
2
An alternative healing choice to Fortissimo that grants a 35% healing output boost buff for 2 turns and causes their healing abilities to apply a 1-turn heal over time on allies healed below 75%. The heal over time heals for 15% of the target's max HP. Offers more active bonuses than Fortissimo.
Helps with her sustain even more.
Best Module Sets:
1
A mostly PVP-focused shell option designed mostly for Supports and Sustain who can't contend for the initiative. Each Mortal Essence stack allows them to ignore all the negative effects from a Damage Skill that hits them, ensuring they can't be easily neutralized by Debuffers and CC openers. Could see use in niche PVE situations.
Bunny is as always good on support units, lets you run a good 8 set like strive or dawn. Evolguard is generally better than smite, but the difference isn't massive so if you only have smite that's fine too.
Best Module Sets:
2
Allows you to reduce cooldown of a random ability, improving the cycling abilities of the character.
I'd recommend overflow 12 set but swift is good too, with no bunny having bulwark is pretty much needed because you really want to get off your first s3 to make her work as a character. Halloween is great for prolonged uptime of the s3 buff.
Best Module Sets:
Speed, CRIT Rate, HP%
This unit scales its heals based on critical heals other than getting tankier thanks to her exclusive passive.
CRIT Rate, Speed
She has to have 100% crit to feel good, so prio that then go speed. If you can only manage 98 that's ok but go for 100 if at all possible.
