Core Passive Dirge of Destiny
When Basic Attack: Featherbloom hits a target that is suffering from an Ether, Electric, Fire, Physical, or Ice Anomaly, it will trigger Abloom, dealing additional Attribute Anomaly DMG. The additional DMG is 3.07% / 1.6% / 4% / 0.37% / 0.54% per 10 points of Anomaly Proficiency of the original Anomaly DMG.
When Basic Attack: Fluttering Frock - Suspension or Basic Attack: Featherbloom hits a target suffering any Attribute Anomaly, it will inflict Vivian's Prophecy, causing the target to take Ether DMG equal to 55% of Vivian's ATK every 0.55s. This DMG can trigger additional DMG from Attribute Anomalies. Vivian's Prophecy ends when the target is no longer suffering an Attribute Anomaly.
When entering the battlefield, Vivian gains 2 Flight Feathers.
Anomaly Mastery: 0
BASE ATK: 0
Additional Ability Prophetic Tears
When another character in your squad is an Anomaly character or shares the same attribute:
Whenever another squad menber applies Attribute Anomaly to an enemy, Vivian will consume 1 Guard Feather to launch Basic Attack: Featherbloom on the target. This can trigger once every 0.5s.
Corruption DMG dealt by all squad members and the Corruption status' Disorder DMG increases by 12%.

Dynamic SubDPS-style kit with lots of Anomaly DMG that can be triggered from on and off-field;
Damage scales directly with Anomaly DPS strength — the more Anomaly damage your DPS does, the better she becomes;
Flexible character: has room for optimizations while being strong at a baseline, has lots of teams to choose from;
Very F2P-friendly — competitive F2P team and build options, any player can make good use out of Vivian.
Her own damage depends on the stats of your other Anomaly Agents, which can be expensive to build;
Relies on Perfect Assists to make the best use of her kit, making her enemy-dependent to an extent;
Other characters substitute her role in a team effectively in spite of her unique mechanics.
Vivian is an Ether S-Rank Anomaly Agent whose defining characteristic is her ability to apply extra Anomaly damage based on your other Agents’ Anomaly damage. This element alone makes her fit into several teams and have high flexibility as a Sub-DPS type Agent, it defines the majority of her damage potential and is what her gameplay revolves around. Let’s first explain her kit and mechanics (fair warning: this will be lengthy).
These “extra Anomalies” (to use simple terms) are called “Abloom”. Vivian triggers Abloom whenever a character is suffering from any Attribute Anomaly of the 5 standard elements (Ether, Electric, Fire, Ice, Physical) and any character in the team uses their EX Special, once per ability used. Simultaneously, Basic Attack: “Featherbloom” is triggered. Featherbloom and Abloom both can activate off-field via any party member’s EX Special attack. This process can also happen whenever any Attribute Anomaly of the 5 elemental kinds is inflicted on an enemy once every 0.5s while her Additional Ability is active. However, in both cases this must come at the cost of 1 “Guard Feather” each time, which Vivian needs to generate on-field in several ways.
Generating a Guard Feather requires first converting it from a “Flight Feather”. Any available Flight Feathers, up to a maximum of 5, are converted into Guard Feathers via Vivian’s Basic Attack in the “Fluttering Frock” state during which she is suspended in mid-air. Fluttering Frock is activated if any Flight Feathers are available and in the following ways:
Holding Basic Attack after using Basic Attack 4, Dodge Counter or Quick Assist;
Using her Noblewoman - Waltz Basic attack (we cover this shortly after);
Using an EX Special attack, Assist Follow-Up, Chain Attack or Ultimate.
Holding Dodge cancels the state if it’s undesirable, and can additionally prevent Vivian from causing her to enter this state at all. If at any point Vivian switches out during the Fluttering Frock state, it automatically activates “Suspension” which is the attack responsible for converting Flight Feathers into Guard Feathers. Noblewoman - Waltz is a Basic Attack only available after pressing Basic Attack in the Noblewoman state, during which Vivian gets a free dodge once (which doesn’t give a Dodge Counter). It can be accessed in the following ways:
After using Basic Attack 4, Dodge Counter or Quick Assist.
To generate Flight Feathers, which are necessary to convert into Guard Feathers for Vivian to use and trigger Abloom, different abilities give different amounts in the following ways:
1 Flight Feather after using Noblewoman - Waltz (this gives 1 additional Feather if it triggers a Perfect Dodge);
2 Flight Feathers after using Chain Attack;
2 Flight Feathers after using Assist Follow-Up;
3 Flight Feathers after using EX Special attack;
5 Flight Feathers after using Ultimate.
All of these abilities are reliant on Energy of some kind or are slow to access consistently (Noblewoman - Waltz). This means Assist Follow-Ups are especially important to generate Flight Feathers with Vivian. Upon converting available Flight Feathers by using Basic Attack in the Fluttering Frock state (called “Suspension”), Vivian is free to switch out to other characters for them to apply Attribute Anomalies for Vivian to trigger Abloom with.
Vivian’s Core Passive is responsible for triggering Abloom, and hence it is the top priority to focus on to maximize Vivian’s damage. It has the following effects
When first engaging in combat, gain 2 Flight Feathers.
When Basic Attack: Featherbloom hits a target inflicted with an Attribute Anomaly, trigger Abloom which deals damage depending on the Anomaly Proficiency of the inflicted Attribute Anomaly applied to the enemy, as well as the element of the Anomaly (balanced to give out the same damage roughly).
When Suspension or Featherbloom hit targets suffering any Attribute Anomaly, inflict a Damage Over Time effect called “Vivian’s Prophecy” which deals Ether DMG based on her ATK every 0.55s. This contributes to Anomaly DMG and ends when targets aren’t affected by Anomalies.
Additional Ability: Corruption and Corruption Disorder DMG increases by 15%. Vivian now also consumes 1 Guard Feather and triggers Featherbloom (and Abloom) up to once every 0.5s when any Attribute Anomaly is inflicted on an enemy.
Beyond the effects of all abilities listed above, all of Vivian’s combat skills inflict DMG and Daze as normal. Some are Physical DMG, but most are Ether DMG. It is important to level Vivian’s combat skills to an extent for extra Daze output to generate more Stun windows for your team on most enemies, even though only her Core Passive contributes to her Abloom DMG.
Based on this kit, the game plan with Vivian is therefore as follows:
Generate up to 5 Flight Feathers in any way (4 is fine depending on the team & available resources);
Enter Fluttering Frock state;
Switch out to automatically convert Flight Feathers into Guard Feathers and apply Anomalies to trigger Abloom for lots of Anomaly damage (switching out immediately upon entering Fluttering Frock state is the fastest possible method to do this).
When it comes to combos, Vivian can use any combination of skills that generate 2 or 3 Flight Feathers to reach a total of 4 or 5 to ultimately convert. Make sure not to waste any Flight Feathers however, as you would lose potential Abloom activations otherwise, so only use Ultimate on Vivian if she’s devoid of these resources.
Regarding her position in the meta, Vivian is an Agent who is heavily dependent on other Anomaly Agents’ Anomaly DMG and Anomaly Proficiency stats to perform. She is capable of dishing out amazing Anomaly DMG in the right team, whether that is through Corruption, Disorder, or Abloom. Generally speaking, all 3 of these damage sources, on top of the damage provided during her on-field time, make her stand out as a comfortable high to top tier character who is able to slot in any Anomaly Agent’s team and perform at least decently well to very effectively, especially if that Anomaly Agent is meant to stay on the field during the majority of combat. Check out our Teams section for a more in-depth look on this!
Generally speaking, Vivian is an Agent who’s simple to play and build, who can perform very well in low-cost teams and with a low-cost W-Engine, which doesn’t require a lot of premium resources put into them. She, however, does hold some big vertical upgrades that can be considered to enhance team performance if necessary. Her main weakness is undoubtedly her reliance on Assist Follow-Ups to have the highest possible Flight Feather generation, as well as adapting her combos dynamically based on the amount of Flight Feathers you can generate and convert in the moment. Additionally, Vivian’s damage isn’t just dependent on her stats but other characters’ which means everyone in the team will require good investment in terms of Disc Drives. However if players can manage this, they will find a lot of success with Vivian as she is one of this game’s top-performing Anomaly Agents.
To summarize, Vivian is an Anomaly DPS Agent that lots of players can draw high performance out of. Pairing her with a second Anomaly Agent is mandatory for her to reach her full potential, but she has lots of options to cover for this, meaning building a team around her is not difficult. She sports great damage with dynamic combos and is able to buff any Anomaly Agent’s damage to great lengths, all of these factors securing her a high spot in the Zenless Zone Zero meta.
This tier list assesses Agents (characters) based on their combat potential in Zenless Zone Zero’s most demanding contents -Deadly Assault (DA) and Shiyu Defense (SD).
SD is a similar mode to Genshin Impact’s Spiral Abyss or Honkai Star Rail’s Memory of Chaos and requires 2 teams of 3 Agents with good Disk Drives and W-Engines. This mode offers a reasonable mix of Boss encounters (single-target) and Elite packs (2-3 targets), allowing multiple characters to find a niche. With that being said, there is a bias towards single-target performance, which may reflect in select character ratings. Additionally, since this content’s goal is to kill all enemies within the shortest time frame possible, Agents who dish out lots of damage quickly instead of damage over time are favoured. This Tier List focuses on Agents’ ability to clear within 150s (2m30s) out of the 300s (5m) needed to obtain all rewards.
DA is a very unique mode in Zenless Zone Zero which offers Boss encounters exclusively, meaning other types of damage than single-target are rarely impactful (if ever). It requires a total of 3 teams to maximize all possible rewards, however only 2 well-geared teams are necessary to maximize Polychrome (premium pull currency) rewards (which are the most important and as a result are what we consider for this Tier List). The goal of this gamemode is to inflict as much damage to a boss as possible in a total time span of 3 minutes, meaning sustainable damage within long time windows is favoured. A maximum of 65000 score points can be obtained by fully depleting a boss’s HP, however this is unrealistic for the overwhelming majority of players while being unnecessary to maximize rewards. Only 20000 points is needed to maximize said rewards, with up to 5000 points being obtainable via Performance (obtained via performing certain actions on specific Boss enemies). Agents’ ability to reach this threshold of 20000 points is what the Tier List focuses upon.
Please keep in mind Zenless Zone Zero is a skill-based game and each character has a different playstyle, difficulty level and even special tricks and combos. Zenless Zone Zero is also a team based game and it's only by combining both these factors to the highest level a character can reach optimal performance.

The W-Engines are listed in order of priority. Sometimes the percentages appearing near them won't reflect their performance as pure damage or Stun output isn't the only thing we're looking at - the utility of the W-Engine might be more important than the calculations imply.
100%
Increases Anomaly Buildup Rate by 40/46/52/58/64%. When the equipper deals Ether DMG, their Anomaly Proficiency increases by 20/23/26/29/32 for 5s, stacking up to 6 times. This effect can trigger once every 0.5s, and repeated triggers reset the duration.
87.71%
Whenever a squad member inflicts an Attribute Anomaly on an enemy, the equipper gains a buff that increases Anomaly Proficiency by 30/34/38/42/46, stacking up to 4 times. This effect expires when the target recovers from Stun or is defeated. The duration of each stack is calculated separately.
81.57%
When there are enemies inflicted with Attribute Anomaly on the field, the equipper's ATK increases by 10/11.5/13/14.5/16% and they deal an additional 15/17.5/20/22.5/25% more DMG to the target.
79.89%
For every 10 Energy consumed, the equipper gains a buff that increases ATK by 2.5/2.8/3.2/3.6/4% for 10s, stacking up to 10 times. The duration of each stack is calculated separately.
78.79%
The equipper's Electric Anomaly Buildup Rate increases by 30/35/40/45/50%. When Special Attacks or EX Special Attacks hit enemies under Attribute Anomalies, the equipper's Anomaly Proficiency increases by 75/85/95/105/115 for 15s.
When the equipper's Anomaly Proficiency is greater than or equal to 375, Disorder DMG inflicted by the equipper increases by 25/27.5/30/32.5/35%.
75.97%
Increases ATK by 12/15/18/21/24%. When using a Special Attack or EX Special Attack, the equipper's Anomaly Proficiency is increased by 25/31/37/43/50 for 8s, stacking up to 3 times. The duration of each stack is calculated separately.
100%
Best Disc Drive set for Anomaly-focused Ether Agents, as it gives a stackable 45 Anomaly Proficiency bonus for 8s when any character in the team uses EX Specials, boosting Ether DMG for the equipper if the effect is activated by other party members, all the while boosting Anomaly Mastery with the 2-piece effect.
Best combined with your choice of 2-PC Set:
Substats: Anomaly Proficiency > ATK% > ATK = PEN
ATK: 2400 - 3000+
HP: 10000
DEF: 800
Anomaly Mastery: 144 - 198+
Anomaly Proficiency: 330 - 430+ (Before Combat)
Anomaly Proficiency is a more valuable stat for Vivian compared to other Anomaly characters due to the additional scaling granted by her Core Passive.
Her Abloom Anomaly damage, which makes up most of her DPS, increases directly with how much Anomaly Proficiency she has. This means she favours this stat over ATK% in almost all situations.

Teams & Synergy
Below we list only the most important synergies for Vivian. The character can work with others if you know what to do and how to use them. For more alternatives, refer to the Teams section.
If a column has multiple characters, the bigger one is the priority choice for the team while the smaller ones are alternatives. If they are the same size, either of them can be used.

Vivian's rotations are dynamic depending on the enemy you're fighting, the resources you have available (Decibels, Chain Attacks, EX Specials, Assist Points...) and your 2 other party members. However, we listed below some possible combos to help you build Flight Feathers from 0 to 4 or 5 and quickly convert them into Guard Feathers to activate her Ablooms as fast as possible.
Note: Chain Attack can replace any Defensive Assist + Assist Follow-Up or Noblewoman - Waltz if available. It's also possible in very rare cases to Chain twice into Vivian to perform a 4 Flying Feather combo only using 2 Chain Attacks, however other teammates may want to execute Chain Attacks instead.
IMPORTANT: If Vivian has any Guard Feathers, only use EX Specials on any character if an Attribute Anomaly is present on the enemy! Otherwise, Abloom will not activate and the Guard Feather will be wasted.
Use this combo at the start of runs in modes where EX Special Energy is available. If Energy is not available right away, perform the No Energy Combo with 1 less Defensive Assist and Assist Follow-Up.
- Start with 2 Flying Feathers (Core Passive)
- EX Special
- (Swap) Fluttering Frock: Suspension
- Basic P4/Quick Assist/Dodge Counter
- Noblewoman - Waltz
- Defensive Assist
- Assist Follow-Up
- Defensive Assist
- Assist Follow-Up
- (Swap) Fluttering Frock: Suspension
- Defensive Assist
- Assist Follow-Up
- EX Special
- (Swap) Fluttering Frock: Suspension
This combo will only give you 5 Flying Feathers if Noblewoman - Waltz also activates a Perfect Dodge. Otherwise, this will give you 4 Flying Feathers (still acceptable).
- Noblewoman - Waltz
- EX Special
- (Swap) Fluttering Frock: Suspension
Make sure to only use Ultimate when all Guard Feathers have been consumed, as it regenerates them fully.
- Ultimate
- (Swap) Fluttering Frock: Suspension
Calculations
Don't use the damage output calculations as an indication on who is worth pulling or investing as those are just simulations and in day-to-day gameplay there's a lot variables and also the skill of the player is important. As usual, don't compare the numbers between characters.
